I wish we got more appreciation for the overall story of the TigerStar and Sasha trilogy. But the immediate instinct is to take the surface level "aesthetic appeal" of the art and immediately turn away from it because it looks wonky as fuck, as if that takes away from the great story hidden underneath all of that.
I've done that before too, for a while I straight up refused to even try reading the trilogy based only off of what I saw from the art. Unknowingly missing out on a great story (For Warriors) because of my first impression of the illustrations
It's unfortunate that quote on quote "Bad art" can instantly ruin an amazing story for many because it doesn't adhere to what they believe good art is supposed to be like.
An on the contrasting side: The graphic novels illustrated by James L. Barry look good, very good in some cases. But the writing in them is either dogshit, mediocre, or passable. But we may find ourselves looking past the "meh" writing because we see good art
(This is not meant to trash on James L Barry or anyone else. I respect James for putting so much work into the series for so many years and I respect the effort of TigerStar and Sasha's illustrator)

i did the math, i think 30 works fine. im able to have star flower be the 5th great-grandmother of pinestar.
30?! 6? sorry i will hear you out but the years being so short surprised me, esp considering all the shit with past talk in the early arcs where they made everything sound really ancient and the mentions of Great Cats like a lion, tiger, etc. i know it's probably been retconned in canon since but still, only 30 years was quite shocking and 6 as a lifespan. that's only abt 5 generations of cats give or take that's lived at the arc 1 territories
I can't do math, I might change it to 40 years. To be fair Rusty would've joined around 2003. And TRUE, the clans being created and the dawn of the clans and creation of the warrior code and what not do sound ancient however you also have to remember DOTC canonically still had cars, and cats in collars and silver trash cans, I think. So, I don't know... also I'm only referring to the actual migration of the Mountain cats to the Forest, not how the mountain cats came to be or anything.
As for the life expectancy, I think it's somewhat fair considering the period.
Grey Wing canonically was only 2 years old when he died. TWO YEARS. He had full grown children at this time too, so having an average lifespan being 6 is in my opinion, is generous.
Here's my rough idea/timeline of events;
ANCIENT ERA (1970-1975)
-> Great migration (Mountain cats go to the Forest) -> Early Wars (No one really likes the Mountain cats. Clear Sky attempts to make his own group and is beat up by One-Eye.) -> Ends with the Blood Bath of Five Trees. (And the death of a god.)
NEW ERA / DISCOVERY ERA (1975-1986)
-> Clans are 'created' and the first warrior code is implemented. -> Moth Flight born + Religious beliefs solidified. -> Moth Flight creates the Healer Vow. No family allowed. -> Era ends with the destruction of Skyclan
SKYCLAN PERISHS (1987)
-> Their old camp/territory gets turned into a dog park. Most cats relocate but some join the other clans. -> The event was foretold by Moth Flight, thus giving more believability to Starclan and Healers.
THE "GOLDEN" ERA (1987-1999)
-> Somewhat peaceful, since the clans have more territory and resources without Skyclan. -> Other warrior code changes are made and built upon. -> Era ends with Mapleshade's Vegence and the creation of Queen's Vow, literally same concept and idea from bonefall's redux.
MODERN ERA (2000-2003)
-> Fighting between everyone, Riverclan vs Thunderclan, Windclan Vs Shadowclan. -> RUSTY JOINS!

the clans being 30 years old at the time of Rusty's arrival. Or is that too short? consider the average life span of a cat is about 6 years at this time.

"Gods"
warrior cat redux/rewrite where one-eye, sol, starflower and moth flight/half-moon are gods. based heavily off of bonefall's tidbit with hollyleaf and sol's time-travel nonsense.
I like the idea of ancient cats being transformed becoming gods after death, essentially. Or even being ancient beings that just happen to possess a cat every few generations or so.
So here's what I'm thinking. before the mountain cats go to the forest, the forest cats already have an established religion of sorts, a polythesim religion. noticeable figures are;
The Wind/Storm/Sun God.
Masculine in nature, typically worshipped and acknowledged by the Gorge cats (Ancient Windclan.)
If he were to take a form it'd be a Lion, with a cloud mane.
His personality is often turbulent, and prayers are for soothing his rage.
The Rain/River/Lake Goddess.
Feminine in nature, and often depicted as hostile and revenge-based. a Ferocious goddess.
If she were to take a form it'd be Leopard, with a fish face and tail.
Typically prayed for, in droughts. She's also affiliated with medicine, healing and motherhood.
The Sky Deity.
A god specifically representing the soft pinks and blues of dawn and dusk, and mornings. The god is the child of the Sun God, and shares his rage and heat.
Relates to the passage of time, growth, and nobility. Also represents beauty.
Specifically, the Gorge and River cats also consider stars as part of the god. so this god would be the Sky/Star god.
The Night
Represents shadows and the unknown.
owls, corvids, beetles and spiders represent the Night. This particular god died out and no longer exists in modern clans.
The Lynx/Deer/Bear/Rabbit.
Represents the forest life, prey and general harmony and connection to the physical world. This God also doesn't exist in the modern clans.
However, the ANCIENT mountain cats have their one singular god, Half-Moon. Which is the ruler of ... the night. Their belief is that their dead all live on the moon, within the sky. Each star is a dead relative and Half-Moon is the cat that brings the dead up to her home, essentially a grim reaper sort. (Half-Moon was also a real cat that did perform the first funerary rite, which spiralled down to this god's eventual creation.) She is specifically affiliated with the Moon but when the Mountain cats join the Forest, the Forest cats are the ones to equate Half-Moon to a death deity.
ENOUGH YAPPING, Which god is what cat?
The Sun god Is One-Eye, like the bonefall rewrite. The Sun god Is One-Eye and One-Eye is the Sun god. One-Eye is a vessel and when the Sun god reveals himself to others he is in the form of One-Eye, they merge into one being after the physical death of One-Eye.
The Sky god is Star Flower, who is the biological daughter of One-Eye. Star Flower was a follower of the Sun God before the Sky god took her as a vessel. Same thing, once Star Flower died, she essentially became the Sky god.
The god, Night created Sol, an Eclipse god. And Harry (Sol, the cat.) was the first vessel that became a god. Before Harry/Sol the Eclipse god did not have a physical being, though it momentarily had a brush with MAPLESHADE. (Think 'boons' in Greek mythos.)
**The River Goddess also doesn't have a concrete vessel, though I like the idea of Mapleshade being the incarnation of her.**
Moth Flight is the most recent god, taking the form of the Nature god. Though a Nature god, Moth Flight is also a mix of sorts between the ancient Nature and Night god. Moths are nocturnal, yet nature-based. Moth Flight is the cat that 'creates' omens and prophecies, how they're delivered to the living is dubious. (Moth Flight could also just be a figurehead, a Joan of Ark if you will.)
AS OF MODERN CLAN LIFE.
These polythenic gods are often forgotten, One-Eye and Star Flower are just folklore, same with the Eclipse god. River goddess has transformed to just a Mapleshade figure, a sopping wet monster that drags cats to drown. Even Half-Moon has transformed into just 'Starclan' In fact, modern clan cats confuse Half-Moon with Moth Flight. Some cats still thank Starclan for their prey (remnants of the Nature God) and Windclanners still sing and yell to ward off storms (remnants of the Sun/Storm god.)

i think we as a warrior cat society forget that mothwing and brambleclaw are siblings. hawkfrost and tawnypelt are siblings. princess and scrouge are siblings. sorreltail and greystripe, rosepetal and berrynose/mousewhisker, breezepelt and lionblaze.

"My scars are both a reflection of the morality of who I used to be, and a visualization of my anger. I existed to hurt others. Now I know nothing else." i've been continously thinking about how i would rewrite lionblaze. this is a hypothetical design of him in that world. quote also comes from something that i think he'd say in a rewrite
