Another Fic Update?

Will be releasing a one-off MDZS fic with an SI/OC, but different from my usual SI/OC stuff. Release is probably tomorrow.

Focused on Mo Xuanyu, will dick around with some big brain plot, soul nonsense, and POVs shifting so much that I tagged it "POV Banzai". Also lore I made up because lore regarding powers in MDZS is rare. (specifically the self sacrificing ritual)

gosh but like we spent hundreds of years looking up at the stars and wondering “is there anybody out there” and hoping and guessing and imagining

because we as a species were so lonely and we wanted friends so bad, we wanted to meet other species and we wanted to talk to them and we wanted to learn from them and to stop being the only people in the universe

and we started realizing that things were maybe not going so good for us— we got scared that we were going to blow each other up, we got scared that we were going to break our planet permanently, we got scared that in a hundred years we were all going to be dead and gone and even if there were other people out there, we’d never get to meet them

and then

we built robots?

and we gave them names and we gave them brains made out of silicon and we pretended they were people and we told them hey you wanna go exploring, and of course they did, because we had made them in our own image

and maybe in a hundred years we won’t be around any more, maybe yeah the planet will be a mess and we’ll all be dead, and if other people come from the stars we won’t be around to meet them and say hi! how are you! we’re people, too! you’re not alone any more!, maybe we’ll be gone

but we built robots, who have beat-up hulls and metal brains, and who have names; and if the other people come and say, who were these people? what were they like?

the robots can say, when they made us, they called us discovery; they called us curiosity; they called us explorer; they called us spirit. they must have thought that was important.

and they told us to tell you hello.

If I were to describe how you look in our team uniform like how we say it in Cantonese, it’d be, “the clothes suit you real well.” What do you think? Interesting, right? 

He says the italicized part in Canto and I added a bit of an accent so you could tell the difference when reading.

hey guys psa regarding hospital bills

don’t just pay it. do not automatically pay the hospital bill when you receive it. call your health insurance provider and POLITELY say, “excuse me, i just received a bill for $1200 for my hospital visit/ER visit/etc., is that the correct amount i’m supposed to pay?” because hospitals bill you before your health insurance and they will take your money no matter how the amount due may change based on your health insurance looking at it. 90% of the time, if your health insurance is in any way involved in the payment of that bill, you do not have to pay as much as the hospital is billing you for. call your health insurance provider first, and POLITELY request clarification, always remember that the person you are talking to is human and this is just their job, and then you will very likely find out you actually only owe $500.

don’t shout at anyone about it, don’t get mad, just understand that this is The Way Things Are right now and call your health insurance provider before paying the bill your hospital just sent you. there’s a chance the hospital bill might be correct, true, but call your health insurance provider.

You know some of these people have deserved it, but you really don’t have the time to discern who does and doesn’t when what you do is basically run through an alley as you unceremoniously kick the dead body in the head and run away.

The last time you stuck around to revive someone, you nearly got yourself shot by he same person who was bleeding out moments before—so there really isn’t any chance you’re going to stay again.

The people can deal with it themselves.
