"Honey, l'm home" Nanami said as he entered and took off his blazor and hung it on the rack. No reply! He noticed the house was unusually gloomy and quiet, something foreign to him. He was accustomed to getting welcomed by you as soon as he set foot in the house. Having your arms wrap tightly around him in a warm welcoming embrace, your sweet smile that would grace his eyes making him appreciate why he has you to come home to. Last but not least the loved filled, passionate kiss he awaits so eagerly for that truly makes him feel the cherished man he is. But tonight nothing! Where was his warm embrace? His darling angel?

He removed his shoes and calmly walked to the living room to look for you. Nothing! The kitchen! No where to be seen? Usually these were the areas were you'd either be reading a book or cooking just waiting to welcome him as soon as the car parked by the driveway. He was actually worried not saddened because if he notices you not keeping up with your usual routines then something's up. Yes, he knows you that well

Nanami then headed to your shared bedroom if course this was the only logical room left he'd find you. After all if you had left the house for something you'd communicate via text or call. As soon as he got to the door he heard sobbing sounds which sent a huge wave of panic and worry tumbling on him like a pile of bricks. He hurriedly opened the door and entered, getting a glimpse of you lying on the bed curled up like your evading an attack.

This sight if you so vulnerable and a broken mess tore his heart to pieces, while he fashions a semi stoic expression your the only one he actually shows his other expressions. He slowly sits down next to you on your side if the bed and removes his glasses to take in the sight before him as if his doubting reality. You, his sweet angel, the apple of his eye - crying? Even if he wasn't the best at comforting others, to you he was a different person. His hand rests on your back and gently rubs in an up and down motion.

"Princess, what's the matter?" his firm, gentle hand rubbing your back as his voice is laced with worry. He knows its not your period, so what is it?

Silence!

You then realize he returned and all you can manage to do is throw yourself on him and sob bitterly. After you gather yourself up you let him in on what's going on and suddenly you have two large arms wrap around you tightly. He pulls back after a good while of hugging you -

"You know what, l find it hard to believe my beautiful, intelligent and strong angel would break down so easily. After all she is a warrior" playfully nudges you with his shoulder and he gives you a warm smile.

"Though warriors can sometimes fall, break and cry, they always bounce back stronger. And you dear are nothing short of a warrior" his hand strokes your head as his finger gently brushes a bit of hair to the back of your ear exposing your cheek. "My dear, don't ever feel like your alone. I'm here for you not just for the highs alone, but especially for the lows" with that he gives you a soft kiss on the cheek.

You didn't have the strength to physically smile but your body communicated otherwise when your cheeks turned a rosy pink colour. The assurance of having him by your side heal meant everything. Nanami then comfortably sat himself on the bed lying on his side facing you, his hand extends to cup your cheek and wipe your tears

"Be gentle with yourself honey okay? Your doing the best you can. You'll definitely be rewarded and repaid back for each ounce of sorrow you endured one day in twice the happiness. And if its someone who hurt you, then l'll give them a hard talking to."

"I love you" with that he gives you a long forehead kiss.

"Oh Nana dear" you dive into his arms, emptying the last of your tears, this time of joy and relief on his chest. He only kissed your forehead so many times it made you giggle.

Before the left every morning he'd leave positive affirmations with either breakfast in bed or just by the spots around the house you'll notice.

Kny ramble, (I should start numbering these lol)

Remember how Kokushibou said that whenever he and Yoriichi talked about how their breathing styles have no successors, and Yoriichi suddenly becomes optimistic and smiles? I shared the same confusion with Kokushibou, on why Yoriichi seems quite delighted at such idea.

Then it struck me that probably means, having no need to teach breathing styles means no more demons. The Breathing style started as a way to enhance the body for Yoriichi, a way to utilise the body to become better in terms of movement and maybe health...before being seeing as a weapon. It's being weaponized. For greater good, granted, but still. And Yoriichi hates conflict.

Having no successors can be meant that breathing style is no longer needed because demons are gone. But there's a possibility it can be used for another intention, and Yoriichi, who has seen how greed and envy influenced his brother, guesses that breathing style could take a very, very bad turn.

A way to get the body stronger? Faster? For what purpose? Violence then, if not for demons slaying.

Yoriichi is probably grateful that the demon slayer organisation is a hidden one, a small community that has only a small splotch of corruption between the slayers from the difference in morals, and that not everyone believes in demons.

Breathing style can be used for a good cause...as it also can be weaponized for destruction.

One of the defining moments of Kyojuro's life was sitting at his mother's bedside as she lay sick. So no matter how mild your symptoms, there's always going to be that little nagging voice that someone precious to him could be taken away.

He is a worrier. He won't leave your bedside unless you send him away.

It's actually one of the few times he's quiet. But his mind is anything but.

Big believer in the healing properties of food. And while he isn't the best cook, he's well-known and adored by all the best cooks in the village, so they're more than happy to send him back to you with home cooked meals to help you regain your strength.

The Rengoku family prides themselves on passing down knowledge and wisdom, and that applies to remedies too. He pores over journals searching for ways to alleviate your symptoms, apologizing profusely if they don't taste good or make you nauseous.

It's actually one of the only times he would ever refuse a mission should he be called to one while you're sick.

His father was away on one when his mother passed and he never got to say goodbye.

The thought of you dying alone terrifies him more than facing any demon ever could.

"It's just a cold, Kyo... I promise I'll be okay."

"Yes! You'll be okay because I'll make sure you're okay! I won't let any harm come to you."

He stays awake as long as he can, just watching over you. You always find him sprawled over you in the weirdest positions the morning, or else he's fallen asleep kneeling beside you.

When you're better he takes a few more days off from missions just to spend them with you and ensure you're okay. It really scares him to see you sick. He's always extra clingy those days, offering to help you with the simplest tasks and treating you like you're made of glass.

Sick Kyojuro x Reader

However, he is the complete opposite when he is sick.

It doesn't happen often. His immune system, like everything about him, is robust. But when he does get sick it takes him out.

Tries to beat the cold out of himself with punishing treatments; bathing in ice-cold water, choking down bitter medicines, still training diligently because Master Kagaya put him on leave and he still feels like he has to do something.

He won't admit he doesn't feel well until he's quite literally unable to crawl out of bed.

You almost have to physically restrain him to get him to let you take care of him.

One of the surefire ways to tell he's coming down with something is loss of appetite. Ordinarily Kyojuro can solo a banquet made for ten men, so when you notice him pushing his food around his plate, that's a good sign to start gathering herbs for remedies.

He's a little sulky then, especially when he can't taste anything.

Loudest sneezer in existence.

The only upside to being sick is getting to spend more time at home with you.

Once he comes to terms with the fact he isn't feeling good, he'll make the most of that, simply enjoying your company, listening to your stories.

He likes to be cared for more than he'll admit. And he appreciates your strength and compassion so much.

For once he doesn't have to be strong and indomitable. It's strangely comforting, to know the world goes on even when he's unable to fight any more.
