Victims need help

Written on the 25th of October 2004

Victims of bullying often break down and can only regain themselves with outside help if the bullying has been prolonged and persistent. Research shows that initially, victims of bullying tend to overlook it.

Ragnar Ólafsson, who holds a master's degree in social psychology and research methods in psychology, gave a lecture on behalf of the research institute in nursing about victims' responses to bullying in schools and workplaces.

It comes into light that responses to bullying are similar and vary on the level of bullying. Ragnar says that initially, responses tend to be reactive, but if nothing happens, the responses become more passive, and with that, the distress increases.

He says this pattern applies to bullying both in schools and workplaces. Ragnar says that these research findings can be used to provide appropriate assistance to victims. He says it's important for those providing assistance to know at what stage the person affected by the bullying is, and research can help tailor treatments for bullying.

Coming back from hiatus

Hello everyone, I'm sorry for being absent for so long. I usually announce a hiatus, but some things got in the way of my personal life that prevented me from being online as much as I'd like to be. 

I had to leave and stop updating the blog, but I plan on finally returning this month, and I have a special announcement to make soon this month.

In the time I was gone, I was working on something special. That will become an extension of the blog for fans to come back to as an online archive that will hopefully be much easier to navigate.
