Ok time for my not long-awaited thoughts spoilers ig so its under the cut

Overall score is like an 8/10, fun show, I really enjoyed myself!

I’d honestly gone in with very low expectations, I think mainly just because I felt starkid was too old to do a high school show but I got over it very quick

In the first act there was a handful of “gen z be like” jokes which did make me worried but again they rolled it back a lot so ig I can let it slide

The four leads were all really great! Especially Angela & Joey! But I loved all of them & getting to see them interact, even before anything bad happened I just enjoyed Vibing with Grace, Peter, Steph, & Max I would’ve watched a sitcom about them

I really liked Nick as Pete in abstinence camp but overall think I actually prefer Joey? I feel Nick worked very well for the more cartoony writing in nmt, but Joey is a stronger actor/singer & is better equipped to carry a full musical. I still love both performances, but I mean look at my url I am predisposed to leading man Joey

Feel kind of mixed about the music because I think out of the trilogy it had the strongest vocals but the weakest songs? I don’t think any of the songs were bad but I cant see myself listening to the soundtrack, which is a shame since the vocals were so excellent.

Favorite songs were probably the start of act II & the homecoming song though

I enjoyed all of the cameos they were fun :)

Laurens character was the weakest link for me IM SORRY QUEEN she was trying her best but pretty much none of her jokes worked for me. Her song was fun though!

I think the inclusion of the lords in black was the weakest aspect narratively, my cameo-happy brain did get a serotonin boost when they showed up, but from a storytelling pov I think it was a lot of new information to dump at the end. Would’ve probably been better if it were just one lord & he had been foreshadowed earlier

Nick is so good at writing romances I was actually getting emotional when it seemed like Steph was going to kill Peter but also angry because “Why doesn’t Grace have to give up something??” Anyways sorry I doubted you for a minute there Nick A+ resolution

Homecoming song got to me so bad, I’m not sure if this is supposed to be the final installment in the Hatchetfield series but I think this would be a really great place to end it? Going from the utter despair of tgwdlm’s ending to bf’s ambiguous-to-probably-horrible ending to everyone just getting to have a fun dance party… ik its corny but it felt like we’d earned that happy ending, again I had a lot of feelings

Actual ending with Grace going crazy felt a little repetive of abstinence camp but I get starkid not wanting to end on a fully sincere note whatever its fine

Uhh yeah overall I am very happy & in a good mood cant wait to log back in on 5 years to give my review of the next show :)
