bathtubs in former grazing pastures really have such an underrated mood. people put old bathtubs out in fields to water their livestock and then when they left their farms or stopped working the land, forests grew back up again so sometimes when I’m hiking I just find them and I love them

Good morning, friends✨ How was your weekend? We went from a temperate and sunny Sunday to snow this morning! On Saturday, I got to visit my favorite little local art store for supplies I'd been needing. One thing I'm excited about is a large piece of foam presentation board! I'm going to try painting it to make a textured gray background for photos of my art. I'm inspired by the gorgeous photography of accounts like @olgaprinku and @saltsugarandsmoke (go check them out!) and I'm eager to improve my own photos and make this space ever more cozy and inviting. The above photo I took in May in a nearby public rose garden. #nofilter It's a magical place and it's giving me so many ideas for beautiful plants I could add to my own garden. Why make a painting about mourning? Because the process of lament and grief is a lost art, something of which we are often ashamed. We tell ourselves we “should be over it by now” and that “others have it worse”. And in suppressing the reality of our grief, our wounds fester and cannot heal. We need to mourn and to recognize its important role in our health and community. There are many difficult things happening to us and all around us. We are often weighed down by the sadness of the world, of death, of corruption. Yet we are learning that the only way forward is through. We must mourn; must give space to mourning, and not push it aside. Oh, it hurts. But it has the power to cleanse and to bring transformation. A flower pic and a true confession (scroll down!) . #whitebleedingheart is one of my favorite flowers. I transplanted some from a friend into my garden, and it thrived and flowered in the first year! Since I was little, I have been fascinated by the shape of these delicate blooms. Have you ever grown bleeding hearts? Which variety do you favor? . I've been thinking about follow counts and algorithms because Instagram is geared around the grind. And I've been thinking about how important it is to enjoy what I do. I know garden snapshots aren't everyone's cup of tea. ☕ But, I don't like pressuring myself to speed up art production just so I can have a new piece to show every week. It's healthier for me to take my time. And I love showing off one of my other passions; I'm pretty obsessed with my tiny cottage garden! 🌿 I think it would be cool if people only followed me because they actually like my art and my plant-mom photos; I would be okay with a low follower count for the rest of my life if the followers I did have were into it.
