Feel like it’s worth mentioning I now have two blogs. This one is primarily going to remain my analysis/longform thoughts on games. The other one is going to be mostly reblogs, and unorganized thoughts. That way I can share and do everything I want to, while letting you guys chose which you care about.
That’s all.

Octopath Traveler 2: A Perfect Sequel
I don’t think anyone who follows me will be surprised to know that Octopath Traveler was my favourite game. It has great storytelling, incredible characters, a world rich with worldbuilding and opportunity, a charming artstyle...it has everything I could want from a game.
I joined the party late to Octopath and even still, I found it to be incredibly compelling and was driven to discuss the game. It had such a profound effect on me, after all.
I only say was, because Octopath 2 came out.
I’ve been silent for a very long time about this game. It’s been months and the entire time, I’ve loved that game. It’s become my favourite far and away. It takes the winning formula of the original, and improves on everything. It grows the character interactions, the stories are bigger and more complex, the gameplay has been finetuned and nailed down to a tee.
Octopath 2 has everything I want from a game. But I couldn’t find anything to say about it.
And I don’t know why. So, I’ll start with something simple to illustrate how I feel about this game. I might talk about it more
The story of Castti is a masterpiece, second to none.
When the game was first announced, I cared about Castti the least. An amnesiac apothecary just didn’t seem interesting to me. I doubted I’d care for her too much and instead focused on the heavy hitters of the trailer.
So it was surprising, to say the least, when Castti ended up gripping me immediately. Her story was one of the last I did. But I was hooked immediately. The intrigue of her past, Eirs Apothecaries and what happened to Malaya was immediately compelling.
I ended up doing Winterbloom next. And it was incredible. The challenge of the boss was fair and refreshing. The story of Rosa was a sad one, but one that inspired hope nonetheless. And Rosa’s death was the first time in the game I cried.
I then did Sai. I was immediately hooked as Castti’s story continued to unfold, with some of the most compelling ensemble cast. I found OT2 to have a weak ensemble in most of the stories, so for Castti’s to continue to nail it was incredible.
To be fair, it was very easy to put together that Malaya was dead and that Trosseau was the villain, likely the cause of her death. I managed it by Winterbloom. But it’s not like the twist is ruined.
The opposite is true. It instead rewards the shrewd player. Making them feel clever and enhancing their experience for engaging with the story. The little details have big payoffs, like how an off-handed travel banter about Castti having black scaring hints at the purple rain.
And then Castti 3 happened. I am not ashamed to say I cried again. It’s such an emotional chapter. We know next to nothing about Trosseau or Malaya, yet you still feel the weights of their fate. It’s also an incredible establisher for a villain and the perfect connection to journey for the Dawn.
After the ordeal ended, I just sat there in the ambience. Just watching the screen as I processed the emotional ride that had played out in front of me. I was able to predict this.
And it did not cheapen the impact this chapter had on me.
The final chapter was the culmination of everything. Castti’s memories returned, allowing her to craft the healing serum and save everyone. Something she could not do before.
The fight with Trosseau was also climactic, and sad with deep consideration. All it took was a few words from Claude to derail his entire outlook on life, making him a nihilist. And Castti was unable to save him.
She still is unable to save him now. She “knows no cure for evil”.
I cried again. It was kind of becoming a theme. And after completing this chapter and seeing the end, it was solidified as my favourite experience.
This isn’t even considering the gameplay, or the music. Both of which I feel are at their peak. It is perhaps the most incredible gaming experience I’ve had.
And yet, I’ve spoken with no one about this experience. I could not find the words on how I feel about this game and everything about it. It says something about Octopath Traveler 2, and I don’t know what.
But either way, this is still my favourite game of all time.

Citizen Sleeper, and the art of caring.
Now that every single DLC episode has been released, Citizen Sleeper is...finished. Done. I genuinely believe that this game is incredible and everyone should play it.
I held off on giving my thoughts for a while. I didn’t want to give spoilers, after all. But I think that now that some time has passed, I can go fully into my spoiler thoughts on Citizen Sleeper.
With that being said: if you haven’t played this game. Go play it. Because I am about to ruin the entire games story.
Anyway. The last time I talked about this game, I talked about how it was about finding belonging in a place you don’t belong. And I still think this is very true! But I think I missed something.
Citizen Sleeper is a game about caring.
I want to be clear that you are given multiple opportunities to leave the eye. With Ankhita and Bliss, with Lem and Mina, without having to worry about everything. With all the different groups that cut and run when the flux event was hitting the eye.
Most players won’t ever see these endings. I know I won’t. I got the ending where despite all the people coming and going, I chose to stay on the eye. Because the Eye does not care about you.
It’s cruel. You live through Cycles of trying to survive, and helping people who never help you. The big question, is why?
It’s the same reason in my playthrough, I never left the eye. It’s because I cared for the people on the eye. And this is such an important detail, the game uses relationships and your care for other people.
Leaving with Ankhita and Bliss is the earliest possible ending, and many (if not all) of the other storylines won’t be resolved. You’ll leave behind the people who depend on you.
Lem and Mina’s ending is less about what’s best for you, and what’s best for them. Is it better for them to stay on the eye? Is it better for them to leave?
And the Gardener ending, oh gods the gardener ending. You lose your individual identity. Your ability to communicate, to think. It’s what you are seeking the entire game. An escape from your cruel existence, your life as an outsider.
And Riko is talking to your body, pleading for you to come back. To say anything.
Citizen Sleeper is so clever. It uses other people to get you to care. And you are the catalyst for others to start caring. I think this is best shown in Peake.
Peake and Eshe came from the Embers planets (Song, Step etc.). Their home was destroyed and they had to run. What’s the eye to them? A place that won’t take them on, won’t even give them resources?
The figurehead for staying is Peake. He’s shown to be meek and to mostly bend to Eshe’s choices. He’s shown to be her close friend and he’s shown to have left his home behind.
He is the one you spend most of the DLC with. Talking to him, understanding him. Making plans on how to save the eye. It is through you conversations with Peake that Peake begins to care about you.
Peake begins to care about the eye.
And it’s at this point where I realized the games message. The more you put into helping people and understanding them, the more you get out. Completing storylines nets you rewards.
Even Ethan’s storyline, a failure of major proportions to get Ethan to care, brings you safety on the eye. It’s because you put in the time, you built the attachment to these characters.
You built this attachment to the eye.
Citizen Sleeper is one of the most emotional, narratively compelling games I’ve played. It reduced me to tears, it made me laugh. It made me despair. It made me love these characters, this setting.
Above all else, it made me care.

Octopath 2 Writing Collab!
Hosted by Orsterra's Tavern discord server!
We're excited to announce the interest check and sign-ups for Orsterra's Tavern's first long-term event! This event is not an Easter celebration, but in fact to celebrate the release of Octopath 2 this year - it's our Octopath 2 Writing Collab!
Now, how will this event work? It's simple (hopefully)! Every entrant will be working together to create a complete piece of writing. The group will plan out an idea for a fic together and roughly decide what will happen in each chapter. Then, once everything is planned, every entrant will discuss who will write each chapter. The fic's length should be one chapter for each participant, each lasting between 1k and 5k words. Each chapter will be written one at a time, in order, and the person writing that specific chapter can ask their fellow entrants for advice and support. Each writer will have a month to write their chapter, and then it will move on to the next. The finished product will be posted to Ao3, and each writer will be credited as co-creators, as well as being able to add whatever notes they wish to their chapter.
While server invites are closed, this event is also being posted to Tumblr. Anyone who signs up from outside of the server will be invited in via a private link.
Use this link to respond to the interest check, whether you wish to sign up or not. Additional information and also an FAQ will be included under the cut. Any questions can be asked by messaging myself or replying to this post. We hope to see you there!
Those signing up may also agree to be an event moderator or beta. Event mods will assist in organising the fic plot and chapter order alongside me, while betas will assist in the spellchecking and formatting of chapters for posting
As mentioned above, each chapter will be betad. Betas are not permitted to change words or any specific bits of writing, only correct and inquire parts that may be unclear.

Citizen Sleeper is an amazing game. I find it to be one of my personal top games I have played and one I always find myself recommending. But I never have sat down to think about the why.
So, if I had to sum it up in short, it is because Citizen Sleeper is about finding a place to belong in somewhere you don’t.
Now, I’m going to go in depth. Heavy Spoilers below.
Citizen Sleeper immediately establishes you as an outcast. Your very existence is one that breeds a sense of hatred and fear. People do not treat you the same, because you are not the same as them. As a sleeper, you are not something understood beyond company propaganda. People cannot empathize with you, and they will not try to sympathize either.
Dragos teaches the player an important lesson. Look out for yourself and always stay one step ahead. That’s the only way you’ll survive. The Eye and it’s inhabitants are hostile to you as a sleeper and help isn’t going to come for free.
People complain that in the later stages of the game, it’s too easy to survive. But that’s the point. It’s easy enough to survive on the eye if you pour everything into that. Spend every cycle gathering money, scrap and other resources.
And you probably should do that.
But you don’t. You choose community, actively putting yourself at risk. And sometimes, your decisions are selfish and who would blame you?
Yet the Sleeper still helps Feng, Sabine, Navigator, Ankhita and Lem & Mina. And sure, does it benefit you? Yeah. But you could still do all this stuff on your own, yet you go out of your way to spend your cycles providing help.
In this way, you build trust with others. You build a connection with Sabine, a partnership with Feng, a family with Lem & Mina. You make homes and places that you belong.
Hostility still exists. Ethan doesn’t care that you’re trying to survive, because he is too. Ankhita is helping you, sure, but she just killed a sleeper. Someone no different from you, someone who just wanted life. If you didn’t know her, could that have been you?
Compassion doesn’t prevail on the eye. Community and understanding does.
It’s why each of the endings are built off two questlines. You have to build connections, get inside the mind and balance groups of people. In this sense, the Sleeper is able to turn somewhere once hostile (and it still is) into a home.
In my playthrough, the Sleeper chose to help everyone. This led to a lot of conflict, a lot of broken hearts and shattered dreams. But in the end, it was the people who helped put the pieces back together.
An interesting thing is that the player will be struggling, desperate to get off the eye in the beginning. But now that the eye has become their home, a place full of people they know...
...the player won’t want to leave. Even if you were worried about still being hunted down, the Gardener’s offer is everything the player would have wanted at the start. Yet, it is easily thrown away, because at this point the eye is home.
The Sleeper is still an outcast, technically. But they’ve found a place to belong.
This is only enhanced by the DLC episodes. At the time of writing this, the final episode isn’t out yet. But the jump between finding your own home, to helping others find theirs? It’s such an interesting switch.
You’re helping people find a home, because they’re like you. They’re people who deserve a place to stay, a place to belong. In this sense, you are doing this as someone who belongs to the eye
And everything is turned on it’s head, because you have to truly mediate with people you never know. Not just people from some far-torn people of the galaxy, like Peake, Eshe and everyone else on the Flotila.
Havenge is portrayed as the bad guys, the entire game. Then you meet Helene. She regrets some of the actions, but is still trying her best. She wants to help people, she just has different ways of going about it.
It’s a shocking moment to realize that someone who was framed as the enemy, is on the same page as you. You have the same goal, but just different ideals. It shook me as a player and made my decision much more nuanced.
Across the entire game, you are building bridges with people who are unlike you and finding a home in somewhere hostile. And by the end of your journey, you’ve finally found that home.
Citizen Sleeper is a game that teaches you to build bridges. To understand perspectives unlike your own, even to try and build lasting connections with people unlike you. Because, despite you not belonging.
You’ve found the place you fit.

Therion and Ophilia as Siblings?
So, I have been doing a lot of thinking recently and I realized a few things
Ophilia and Therion look quite similar.
Therion and Ophilia have a similar age.
Therion and Ophilia seem to both have been around the Cliftlands/Riverlands border at a young age.
And after much discussion, I realized yet another thing. Ophilia became an orphan in the fire ten years ago. At the time, Therion would have been twelve, which was when he was arrested and thrown into the jail where he met Darius.
My brain immediately went into hyperdrive with an idea. Therion and Ophilia are long-lost siblings, who believed that the other died in the fire 10 years ago. They continue on with their lives, Therion as a thief and Ophilia as a cleric.
Until the main events of the game begin and the two end up meeting. They may realize it at first, or they may not. One may know, while the other has forgotten. Whatever the case, eventually these two realize they are siblings. Cue emotions and the found family Octopath is all about.
I also love a few other ideas. These two as siblings and Cyrus as a sibling in spirit. Just these three have the vibes of siblings and I love it. The other idea that comes about is post game, Therion follows Ophilia and becomes a Knight Ardante.
No matter how you take it, I just love the potential idea of Therion and Ophilia being long lost siblings.

Whose your favorite villain in octopath?
That's a tough one and I'd have to say it depends. All the villains are good for different reasons and I have different reasons for liking all of them. For example, I really enjoy Darius as a villain because not only is he an evil bastard, but because he represents Therion overcoming his past and choosing to believe in trust and redemption. But then I enjoy Mattias because he's a narrative foil to Ophilia. He has abandoned the church and all notions of love for infinite power. He has given up faith and he is defeated by Ophilia, because she has faith that she turns into strength. Not just her faith, but the faith other people place in her. Really, most of the villains have something good about them that makes me rate them all on the same level as each other. So I can't pick a favorite.

I played Live a Live and it was an amazing game! Literally, one of the coolest things I’ve played and right up there with some of my favorites. So I figured I’d give some thoughts about all the different chapters of the game! SPOILER WARNING FOR LITERALLY EVERTHING
Prehistory: So the prehistory chapter is one of the chapters I like less in this game, though that’s probably because I’m a huge story person and this chapter has a word count of 0. The battles are incredibly brutal and some of the enemy design feels a bit...bland? Also, this may just be me, but I did not understand Pogo and Beru. I mean, I guess I like the two, but this man sees a girl and immediately loves her. He gives her food and she kisses him. They are now in love so much that he is willing to get thrown out of his village! How crazy is that! Unfortunately, after this point, the plot takes a nosedive off a cliff, only truly resuming at the very end, in which we get to fight A FREAKING DINOSAUR! Ok this is actually pretty cool as a fight, even if Odo is a bit easy. Nothing more to really say, let’s just move on.
The Wild West: This chapter is really simple, but that’s not a bad thing! I think it’s still a good chapter. Anyway, it begins with Sundown, an outlaw. We then get to meet his boyfriend Mad dog and we face him. After beating him we end up going to the town of Success, were we get to your mom a vagrant before beating him up. Things continue to escalate until we’re exploring the town as we look for traps in an incredibly anxiety inducing segment. Following this we fight O.Dio and then get sentimental on Mad Dog, before riding off into the sunset. This chapter really doesn’t have much to say about it but I don’t find that a problem. It’s short, sweet and tells a full story.
Imperial China: Probably my favorite chapter in the game, Imperial China blends amazing gameplay with a stellar story and the best mechanic in the game: Inheritance. It’s also at this point I would like to take a side rant to talk about the visuals and music. The visuals are gorgeous, every area and character looks great. And the musical score is one I would add to my Spotify playlist, no question. But I digress. The disciples! This is a cool mechanic, where you train your next successor. All the disciples are cool and there’s a choice for everyone. I personally ‘chose’ Lei. I put it in quotation marks, because the character you give the most training to will be your successor. And in a shock twist, the other two will die. This moment shook me. But anyway, with Lei and the Shifu we go and beat up the indominable fist fortress. A cool battle based segment, where there is actually some link between story and gameplay as the Shifu feels weaker and Lei is becoming a powerhouse. But the coolest part of all? We fight the boss, Ou Di Wan lee, with Lei! This was a really cool moment that showed the shift in the story, Lei surpassing her master. And then it all ends as it began and Lei is ready to continue her Shifu’s legacy. Overall, a stellar chapter that is a treat both for new players to start with and old players to enjoy yet again. Twilight of Edo Japan: Let me preface this with the fact that I did a pacifist run of this chapter, so that may skew my opinions. With that being said, Twilight of Edo Japan is both incredibly rewarding and incredibly frustrating. There is a lot of freedom and exploration with how you tackle this chapter, but that can lead to a lack of direction and getting incredibly lost. A lot of this chapter is trial and error, as it is incredibly easy to get softlocked. The combat becomes stale after you unlock a few specific moves and the final few enemies that you face are a complete joke. Though when I got to the end, a new day dawning and the game acknowledging that I had gotten 0 kills, I felt extremely fulfilled. It was a tough challenge, but one I had surpassed.
Present Day: This chapter is easily the worst in the game. This is due to a complete lack of story and gameplay that actively requires you to be hit to get moves, which is actually really difficult somehow. At least it’s short and you can get it finished relativity quickly. This is as good a time as any to talk about the combat. Combat takes place on a grid, with you moving around and using moves of both physical and magical capacity. The combat is built around an action gage. All actions take a certain amount of time to do and certain abilities require time to charge. If an enemy is charging, you can interrupt them by knocking them back spaces or applying a stunning move. There are also weaknesses and resistances. Weaknesses deal extra damage, while resistances deal less. Though this may seem daunting, you’ll quickly pick this up and the combat system will feel incredibly fulfilling very quickly as well as super fun. Anyway, I guess we killed Odi O’Bright so let’s move on already.
Near Future: Ok this is a fever dream and I love it. The Near Future is a chapter about a psychic orphan and his robot turtle friend taking down a mecha god statue. This chapter plays like an anime with a deep and gripping story and incredibly fun gameplay where you fight armies of robots. The overworld exploration is incredibly fun and the story takes you by the hand and takes you on an emotional journey. Matsu’s death especially hit me hard. And by the end when you’re flying the steel titan? Incredible and climactic. I don’t really know what to say about this chapter, except I love it. Distant Future: This chapter makes me feel things. We begin with the creation of Cube and we meet Inventor Dad, also known as Kato. We are then introduced to the rest of the crew. Rachel, Kirk, Hewey and Darthe. A strength of this chapter is the complete lack of combat. It enhances the eerie atmosphere of this chapter and makes the Behemoth a nightmare. It immerses you in the fear. It also gives you a chance to learn about the characters and establish their dynamics and give them all coffee. Slowly but slowly, the chapter becomes more anxiety inducing and you worry for the safety of the final alive characters after the tragic deaths of Kirk, Hewey, Rachel and the captain. After Kato is attacked, Darthe and Cube form an unlikely alliance to finally confront OD-10, which we will do through the machine of Captain Square (That we will not talk about because it sucks.) And the OD-10 fight. So climactic and cool. It is such a fun fight and Cube is a powerhouse and badass. After kicking this robots butt, we get a monologue about the nature of humans. Darthe finally opens up to us about his hatred for robots in a scene that made me cry and we finally give him coffee, officially cementing his status as Corporal Dad. This scene made me cry. The Chapter ends as the three survivors return to earth. A truly emotional experience I thoroughly enjoyed.
Medieval: This chapter had one hell of a twist. What started out as your basic “knight saves the princess” story with some super fun gameplay morphed into a hero who was blamed for actions he didn’t really commit which then took a 180 heel turn into Pseudo-sympathetic Geocidal demon. The story starts out rather simply. Our main character, Oersted, is set to marry the princess. Unfortunately, she is kidnapped by the Lord of Dark. So we set out to save her. What ensues is a story of tragic deaths as we slowly lose faith in humanity as a whole all because of one incel who thought he deserved something more than a participation award. Shout out to Streighbow for being more hateable than most villains from other games I’ve played. Hasshe’s death wasn’t surprising but still hit me in the feels. The death of the king and the following mass murder of knights completely shook me. The death of Uranus was sad and made me feel horrible. The death of Alethea was insane and I just...don’t know how to feel. It was an emotional experience. And the heel turn twist in which Oersted becomes Odio? Magnificent. Overall, the Medieval chapter is an experience and I love it. The Dominion of Hate: The final, climactic chapter. I have very little to say about it except I think it’s cool how all the game times together, the final boss was climactic with a tough challenge, amazing designs and a banger score. And Sin of Odio? Literally everything I was seeking and everything I was hoping for. Using all 8 playable characters in one battle was so cool. Oersted’s final speech left me feeling bad for my demonic baby. And the end credits, where we see everyone moving forward with their lives was the cherry on top. All in all, Live a Live was an experience, one I highly recommend for all to play. It may be one of my favorite games of all time and with it’s stellar story and incredible gameplay on top of some of the best presentation and soundtrack, it should not be skipped.

Ideas for unexplored relationships in The Quarry
So, The Quarry has a bunch of unexplored relationships. Some of which, I think could be incredibly interesting. At the very least, interesting enough to go on length ranting about:
Ryan & Emma: There is a strong implication that Ryan and Emma are both repeat Counsellors at Hackett's Quarry, potentially the only ones. I get the impression that while neither of them are particularly close, they do know each other a little. I think this could have been really fun, because we never really get counsellors talking about their experiences at the camp. These two could have shared some memories from taking care of campers and even started some small banter.
Ryan & Jacob: These two would be interesting from an angle of poor relationships. There is a very heavy implication these two don’t like each other at all, but there is no added flair. I don’t understand why these two dislike each other so much, to the point that they are able to repeatedly abandon each other to the wolves (figuratively and literally). It would have been interesting to see a reason why they don’t like each other and the division this could cause, or the unlikely alliance of these characters, instead of Jacob just disappearing for the latter half of the game.
Jacob & Kaitlyn: So these two have a very fun banter at the start of the game and Kaitlyn mentions that she sees Jacob like a brother. And nothing is done with this??? This is a huge missed opportunity, two characters who previously knew each other and have a pre-established relationship. I would have liked to see Kaitlyn confront Jacob about sabotaging the car or Jacob show concern for Kaitlyn once shit truly hits the fan. Maybe Kaitlyn even tries looking for Jacob?
Jacob & Nick: Poor Nick. Shafted so badly that he only has one true relationship, that I cannot support because he acts like a creep and asshole the entire time (Whether that’s because of the infection or not, I’m unsure.) But I digress. This would have been an opportunity to flesh out Nick. It’s implied these two are best friends and that Nick tries to follow Jacobs example, but literally when in the game does this happen? Most of the time, Nick is actively taking the piss out of Jacob. Doesn’t help that Jacob just...forgets about Nick.
Jacob & Dylan: I would’ve liked to have seen these two interact. They have a fun dynamic at the beginning of the game and honestly, it feels like on a smaller level these two can at least slightly relate to each other, both terrified of rejection and seeking belonging and want from anyone. They could have been a fun dynamic, even if not a major one.
Jacob & Abi: I don’t really have a deeper reason, I just think these two could have been fun. It’s someone for Abi to bounce off who shares some level of similarity to her. Honestly, Abi needed more screen time and I think Jacob could be a solid person to bounce her thoughts off.
Abi & Max: To be fair, I don’t know how this would work in game, unless you cured Max earlier in the story. But these two deserved better and I think their dynamic would be fun. The resident goofball and the Shy girl who both have gone through far too much this night team up. They could have had some nice dialogue.
Nick & Kaitlyn: This could have been great. From what I can tell, these two are both mellow and I think a relaxed duo is perfect for these two. Just a chance to be and do things, while fleshing out Nick.
Kaitlyn & Emma: I think that these two could have been fun. It could give us a bit more insight into Kaitlyn as Emma tries desperately to make Kaitlyn laugh. Also, I think it would just be fun to see these resident girlbosses get things done.
Emma & Dylan: THESE TWO. I want to see them. They both resort to humor in a tense situation, both hide behind a persona or what they think people want them to be and both are easily some of the most technology based in the group. It would have been a good chance to show what Emma and Dylan are like when they aren’t acting and their banter would have been priceless.
Well, that was way longer than expected, but hoped you enjoyed regardless.

Octopath Traveler Headcanons
So I love Octopath Traveler and have been collecting thoughts for many years now. Over my many years, there have been several Headcanons I have collected, so in no order whatsoever, let’s go!
Primrose and Ophilia having the concept of faith: Primrose having faith only in herself, doing things utterly alone. Ophilia who places faith in the gods, an entity that hasn’t been present. The two go through earth shattering events, but keep faith in themselves, but also the travelers who they’ve come to love as a family. I love the idea of these two challenging each others faith, only to come to respect each others ideals and even share them in some case. Speaking of faith;
Mattias and Simeon: These two are the perverse version of faith. Simeon, who places his faith in himself in such a twisted way, that he sees himself as superior to everyone. Mattias meanwhile, has lost faith in the gods and now places his faith in a perverse and twisted entity. But more, these two have an interesting representation of what Ophilia and Primrose would become without love. Or at least, a twisted version of love.
Therion, Olberic and redemption: Olberic and Therion seem to be emotionally distant, despite how available they actually are. There pursuit seems to be unrelenting, like they’ll kill if they have to. Yet the blood they find on their hands seems to be regret. When it comes to facing down their greatest threats, they let them go, hoping they can find a better path. This leads them to become more pacifistic.
Kit Ravus: This is more or less an idea I had based on lore, but canonically speaking, Graham leaves Kit in Bolderfall. I then thought about it and went “Wouldn’t it be fun if Kit was left with the Ravuses?” and just sorta went from there. I love the idea that Cordelia sees Kit as family and Kit wasn’t utterly alone and abandoned. It also gives a bit more depth to Cordelia and Heathcote, while neatly explaining how Kit lived.
Therion and Cyrus like brothers: My opinion on Therion and Cyrus has slowly shifted and now I love the idea that the two are like brothers. I think it’s a fun dynamic for the two to have and develops Therion coming out of his shell more. It also gives Cyrus a bit more footing in the party as I find his position is usually built around whoever he is being shipped with. Plus, they go through some traumatic moments in the story, so them being at each others side through it all is quite fun, really. You can technically have them be actual brothers too, considering the lack of background from Therion and Cyrus.
Olberic; Group dad: Olberic is easily the dad of the group. He is incredibly stoic, calm and collected. He is constantly cleaning up after the other travelers and their shenanigan's. Most of the group has accidently called him ‘dad’. He knows the group loves Linde, so he deals with Linde for their sake, but he secretly is afraid of Linde.
Therion has a fear of heights: Due to trauma from the Darius incident, Therion now has a horrific fear of heights and simply shuts down near any of the bridges in the continent, due to them not being very safe.
Primrose is a petri dish: Due to Primrose’s outfit being unsuitable for basically every climate, the group is constantly giving her different outfits and she still gets incredibly sick. This has lead her to become a test subject for Alfyn whenever he tests out his concoctions.
Alfyn the musician: Musical instruments exist throughout Orsterra. Alfyn is actually really good with the piano and plays that incredibly well. Cyrus loves music and has learnt how to play some instruments, so it’s a bonding point for the two of them.
H’aanit, Disney princess: H’aanit has an easier time conversing with animals than people, despite having incredible social intelligence that makes her a sponge for all the groups gossip. Tressa jokingly calls her ‘Queen of _’ based on what animal she last lectured.
Crystal collection: Tressa loves crystals and will collect any she sees. This includes unearthing whole clusters of crystals or taking it off dead corpses. This has led some of the group to fear her.
Gay disasters: Cyrus and Ophilia are incredibly socially dense and cannot cope with their romantic feelings whatsoever. Any time they are flirted with, they will not understand, then when it is later explained, they nearly perish.
Group therapy: H’aanit is like a therapist, helping the group work through much of their issues. She is great for emotional support and treats almost every issue with dignity and grace.
Found family: The group are literally family you guys-
