BIOGRAPHY,

Eddie was born with his umbilical cord wrapped around his neck, and it’s felt like that ever since. He grew up with half finished lego sets, unbeaten video games, a lingering apathy for everything he picked up. His mother said he was always like that, he didn’t know if it started when his sister died. The funeral was hard, and for years, his mother has held contempt for him for showing little to no emotion through the service. He didn’t think about it much. He preferred not to think about much in general with the help of a wax cart in one hand and a juul in the other.

Although she was his best friend, he was incredibly unlike his twin sister Katie. It was a shock they always ended up in the same grade together with how little effort he put into his schoolwork, skating by on an average of a C- that put him in remedial classes purely for behavioral issues. “A pleasure to have in class, but could stand to put in more effort.” Katie didn’t have to tutor him, he understood the text, he got the lesson, but if it made her feel like she was helping, he let her sit with him at night and go over what he needed to know for whatever test was next. He knew though that no matter how hard she tried, Katie was going to end up at some nice school, and Eddie would be left behind. Boot Hill forever, shithole house forever with a nagging sister that thought she was their mom.

He tried not to be home much, instead preferring to be at the skate park with the small handful of friends that he had. Some say he fell in with the wrong crowd with some of those friends, picking up on petty theft and minor vandalism. He’d only been caught once, brought home shortly before his eighteenth birthday to a livid Joey, and a mother staring blankly at the television. In truth, he preferred his mother if only because she didn’t tell him what to do, she didn’t pay attention, there were no expectations to live up to. Instead he had his sister, juggling kids that she shouldn’t have to, and shouldn’t be there.

Was he bitter? Maybe. But Eddie wasn’t one to let it show.

Headstrong and independent, two words all of Katie’s teachers used to describe her in breakrooms. They’d warn each other– oh, you have her second period? Well, she’s certainly…opinionated. Of course, they’d write a simple “joy to have in class” on the report card and call it a day. It was evident after a few parent teacher conferences that Katie’s sister, Joey, was the one keeping the Ryan family together. The whole town knew about the Ryan family tragedies, an unfortunate plural, but judging by Katie’s attitude, they were doing just fine, so there was no need to intervene. Katie’s twin brother, Eddie, was a different story, but they knew Katie was handling that herself. If it ain’t broke, don’t fix it…right?  

Katie never experienced familial structure– at least not any that she remembers. She’s been told she had a father, but that means nothing to her. She’s also been told she had another sibling, but all she sees are the remnants of that sibling’s life in the kids she tragically left behind. She’s been told that Felicity Ryan is her mother, but she’ll believe it when she sees it. As far as she’s concerned, the Ryan family is a family of five: Joey and Eddie, and the younger Ryan kids. Anyone else is inconsequential.

Katie sees everything in black and white, really. It’s all or nothing with her, in every sense. If she loves something, everyone will know. If she hates something, everyone will know. She typically loves more than she hates, unless that hate is an injustice, or neon yellow. There is no middle ground. There is no “complicated”. Things are as she sees them, and maybe that’s a flaw to some, but she’s never had a problem with it.

High school is all Katie has known for the last four years. Even before high school, she was itching for the freedom she felt it would bring her. She ran the place, being on cheer and student government, and babysitting to help with the costs. Now that it’s coming to a close, the uncertainty of the future is looming, and for the first time, she’s not sure what comes next. Her responsibility to her (chosen) family, her aversion to her “mother”, her love for her brother, and her need for freedom and experiencing the next adventure are all fighting for top priority, and she feels completely out of control of where that will fall.

Hey guys! I want to apologize for disappearing again, I took a little break as my mental health, to be completely honest, has been very bad lately. I haven’t been able to go back to class for health and transportation reasons, hopefully I can come back on Thursday, so I think that’s really been messing with me, cabin fever and all that. Since I’ll be going back to school soon and my time might be taken up by things other than sleeping on the couch and bingewatching tv shows, I’ve decided to scale things back a bit on here. Don’t worry, we’re definitely not closing, I love this group and you guys too much, and I know how attached everyone is to their character! What we’ll be doing is running a bit more relaxed. Here’s how:

The activity limit will be changed from six days to two weeks. After one week without activity, I’ll place your character(s) on an activity check and message you to see if you’re still around. You’ll have 72 hours to check in to say you want to keep your character, and then another week to start writing replies. If two weeks have gone without you checking back with me or any activity on your blog(s), you’ll be unfollowed. You’ll have 48 hours to reclaim your character before the bio will be deleted/your character’s information will be removed from the main. If your character is unfollowed and information deleted, you’re welcome to apply again!

The waiting limit for characters is no longer! The character limit will remain at six, and the three white/three poc fcs rule will remain, but you don’t have to wait for a week between characters, so if you get more than one muse idea a week, bring ‘em in!

Acceptances will be rolling and no longer on set days. As soon as I’m able to read your app and make sure there’s nothing entirely offensive in it (lol), I’ll accept it!

The answer-two-starters rule will no longer apply, I know you guys will be responsible with it and the group is small enough that I don’t think it will be a problem tbh! Y’all are rockstars.

I won’t be focusing on promoting much, I want to focus on writing and being here for you guys like I haven’t been in quite awhile, but anyone that finds us in a tag or stumbles onto the main is welcome to join us at any time! We’d love to have you!

So that’s really all that will change around here, I want this to be a relaxing, fun place for you guys to unwind and think up some fun, creepy interactions. I’ll be posting a little plot drop soon! I love you guys, swing by the inbox or ims if you have any questions about this!
