What the night brings (Xiao x Reader one shot)
Content: Xiao x y/n (gender neutral)
Note: teeth rotting fluff, established relationship, no warnings.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Silent was the night. The kind of silence that brings tranquillity brought nothing but tension to the Yaksha. The thundering flapping of moths' wings as they hungrily clung to the overhead lanterns was the only indication of life. No, the silence wasn’t tranquil. It was foreboding.
Xiao had not seen a single monster during his patrol. This wasn’t surprising as the recent festivities had brought with them an increase in guards stationed around Liyue. Perhaps this was the catalyst for his choice—a choice to leave his post, only briefly, to catch a glimpse of you.
The Yaksha steered clear of the city during the aforementioned festivities out of conscious precaution and centuries of habit. However, the familiar solitude also brought with it a newly found longing. An ache. Not that he’d admit to it.
A well-practiced step landed on the balcony of the inn. He knew being here wasn’t wise, silently reproaching himself as he made his way toward a familiar figure already waiting for him.
“You’re awake,” he said passively, making his presence known to the person he had come to cherish.
“Xiao! I didn’t think you’d come today. You’re usually on patrol at this hour,” you greeted him with a smile. Courting the Yaksha had been a challenge. Although you had both made great strides, even now that you were together you actively considered the amount of affection he could handle.
“I was,” Xiao said curtly as he made his way by your side. “Did you enjoy the festival?”
“That I did. You should have seen the chaos that unfolded with the competition. Oh! And the fireworks, although I’m sure you saw them, were absolutely marvellous. They truly outdid themselves this year,” you brightly relayed, mentioning highlights whilst being oblivious to the hand slowly inching closer to yours. “Although, I would have loved to see them with you.”
A slight frown that tugged on Xiao’s face didn’t go unnoticed. You knew about his karmic debt and its effects, but before you could take back your words, he turned to you.
“Me too. Maybe… maybe we can watch it together this coming Lantern Rite?” he answered, catching you off guard. His response, although hesitant, filled the air with a tender potential. Surprise flickered across your features before melting into a warm, gentle smile.
"I would love that, Xiao." Your words were sincere, heavy with the promise of shared future moments.
The night seemed to pause, holding its breath along with Xiao as he finally allowed his hand to brush against yours. The touch, light and uncertain at first, grew more confident when you didn't pull away but instead intertwined your fingers with his.
"It's peaceful tonight," you observed, leaning slightly against his shoulder. Xiao's usual rigid posture softened at the contact, a silent admission of his rare vulnerability only allowed in your presence.
There were no words left to say. You simply leaned in and basked in his company. What started as a night filled with foreboding silence had blossomed into a shared sanctuary, carved out within the chaos of the world below. Xiao’s hand squeezed yours gently, an unspoken gratitude for the peace you brought into his tumultuous existence. You squeezed his hand back. Both of you knew the challenges that lay ahead, the duties that could not be ignored, but for now, in this moment, everything felt possible.
The moths continued their dance around the lanterns, the only witnesses to the quiet resolve forming between you two. You both remained there as the night deepened, basking in the rare serenity that only the other could provide.

Through an ancient city (Albedo x Reader one shot)
Content: Albedo x y/n (gender neutral)
Warnings: None
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Mondstadt is an ancient city. Full history, heroic tales, myths, and legends. You can smell it in the air as you stroll down the street past the giant cathedral. You see it in the core of various games the youth plays. And feel it in your bones as you listen to the tavern tunes. But not all whispers are of legends old. Many relay gossip about the modern folk, what they do, and what they have achieved. And when it comes to achievement, no one is more renowned than the Chief Alchemist and Captain of the Investigation Team of the Knights of Favonius, Albedo.
There are many rumours surrounding this young man. From his time in Dragonspine to his vast knowledge, and his aptitude for isolation. What drew you towards him, however, was his attitude. Not just how interacted with others or his temperament, but how he moved, how he talked and breathed. His pragmatic nature when dealing with challenges and obstacles. And before you knew it, you became part of his legend.
It wasn’t an intentional change, not initially at least, but as a bird that touched heavens continually soar, you found yourself his companion more often than not. His well-intentioned bluntness you learned to mend with no effort, much to his delight. Thus, you found yourself aiding him on many quests.
“Are you sure you’re human?” You chuckled to yourself as the man in front of you reached another alchemic breakthrough. His avoiding gaze went unnoticed. Albedo had spent the past few months proving his hypothesis regarding the effects the elevated altitude had on volatile organic compounds, and at last, the results are showing some promise. While you tried your best to provide aid in his research, in the end you found yourself cheering him on rather than actually collecting data.
“Out of all aliphatic hydrocarbons, toluene seems to be very prevalent…maybe the alkenes-“ Albedo mumbled to himself as he looked through the papers. “Ah, Y/N, are you hungry?”
“Hm? A little. Should we take a break?” You asked, his question gaining your attention.
“Sure. Our early meeting caused you to skip lunch, didn’t it? In that case let it be my treat today.” He says with a smile, adding before you could interject. “No no, I insist.”
Deaf to your objections, the two of you made your way into the city and ordered your respective meals. Pedestrian gazes went unseen as the two of you indulged each other’s company. Time just as forgotten. A small smile never left Albedo’s lips as he listened to your tales. But the spell is broken when the final rays of the day shy away behind the horizon.
Rather than returning to dragonspine, as you had expected, the two of you ended up wandering through the city.
“I heard Davy is performing in the city center today, we should still make it if we make haste.” You grinned as you led Albedo through the crowd. “Although, recently his love tunes have taken an angry tone. Perhaps it’s because…because-”
…
…..
…
Your heart skipped a beat as you felt his hand giving yours a gentle squeeze. Completely losing your trail of thought you looked up, only to find Albedo’s gentle gaze already on you.
Mondstadt is an ancient city. Full history, heroic tales, myths, and legends. You can smell it in the air as you stroll down the street past the giant cathedral. You see it in the core of various games the youth plays. And feel it in your bones as you listen to the tavern tunes. It’s a beautiful city. And yet none of its ancient wonders hold the alchemist’s adoration as you do.

An amber stranger (Zhongli x Reader one shot)
Content: Zhongli x y/n (gender neutral)
Warnings: none, SFW
Tumblr media Tumblr media
The sun brought with it unmatched tranquillity as it set on the Liyue harbour horizon. Men, women, young, and old, all taking their leisurely stroll after a long day of work. That’s when you saw him. An awe-striking man that put an abrupt stop to your stroll, much to the dismay of the cargo carriers behind you. After a swift relay of apologies, your gaze returned to the stranger, only to be met with a gaze of his own. A tall, upright stature illuminated by an amber light. An intimidating presence to say the least. But the amused glint on his face did not go unnoticed by you. That was the first time you met the stranger, but it certainly wasn’t the last.
The second time you ran into the stranger was in the Bubu Pharmacy a few weeks later. You came with the intention of restocking your medical supplies when a deep voice swayed your concentration.
“The qingxin flower, an excellent choice to overcome sore throats and headaches, not to mention its nutritional value. A fine choice indeed.” The stranger commented, bemusing you into silence. “Ah, my apologies, it was rude of me to intrude on your affairs. Please, don’t let my musing get in the way of your browsing.”
“It’s..It's quite alright, no harm done.” You answered with regained confidence. “I was merely surprised. Thank you for your kind recommendation Mr…?”
“Zhongli”
“Pleasure to meet you, Mr Zhongli”.
And just like that a new acquaintanceship was born. A connection that only continued to grow with each reencounter. As time raced by, that acquaintanceship evolved into companionship, a friendship, and then, an unfamiliar warmth.
A gentle breeze swept through the harbour on a fine spring morning, carrying with it the scents from every corner of the market. You were merely purchasing ingredients when you ran into a familiar figure. “Mr Zhongli! Good morning, are you here for groceries? The veggies have an excellent deal at the moment” You cheerfully greeted him.
“Good morning to you too Y/N, I was merely browsing. But if the deal is as good as you suggest, I'd be a fool to miss it.” He smiled warmly. “Also… Y/N.” He started after a brief pause.
“Yes?” You answered.
“Surely, you and I have grown past the point of using honorifics. Just Zhongli is fine, wouldn’t you say?”. He said warmly, before chuckling at your surprised expression. “After all, we aren’t strangers anymore.”
“I suppose so, yeh” You affirmed. “Then, Zhongli, will you do me the honour of joining me this evening for an evening stroll?” You asked, quicking losing your prior confidence. “I’m planning to stop by Xinyue Kiosk, and thought...I was thinking maybe-”
“I would love to join you Y/N. Perhaps we could get some dinner as well?” He asked.
“That would be lovely.”
Three months have passed since that evening, and that prior unfamiliar warmth has made your heart its permanent home. Those familiar eyes, the warm smile, and the smooth voice never fail to make you yearn for more. And tonight, you decided to take the definitive stance. You will either fulfil your desire or lose everything. Thus, on a regular evening stroll by the docks, the very same place you first met the man, you took Zhongli’s hand and looked meaningfully at him. He was receptive. His upright stature illuminated by an amber light, as he gave you a questioning look.
“Zhongli,” you started “there is something I must confess, please allow me to finish first.” He gave you a knowing look, a knowing look with a hint of sadness in them.
“While I know we haven’t known each other for very long, I can’t deny this feeling anymore. Whenever I see you, I feel this warmth, this ache in my chest that won’t go away no matter how much I distract myself. My heart and thoughts race with your touch. So while you don’t have to return my feelings, would you please accept them and remain my companion?” You breathed your final sentence. Hating how the fear made your voice quiver.
Zhongli was quiet for a long while. Replaying and rethinking each word you uttered. Before finally, returning his gaze to yours and answering:
“My dear Y/N, this must have been bothering you for a while now, thank you for confiding in me. I have lived a long life, met many people, and experienced many unforeseen losses. A part of my history I have yet to share with you. But in all that time, I’ve learned that it’s the chances you miss that you regret the most.” He smiled at you. “I would love nothing more than to remain your companion and to accept all the feelings you may feel. So please, share them with me in the future as well?”

Wind’s embrace (Angst One-shot)
Content: venti x y/n (gender neutral)  Warning: angst with no comfort, infidelity, mentions of alcohol. Note: This is my first time writing fanfiction, so any suggestions are more than welcome.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
As long as you could remember you’ve always found comfort in the wind. A gentle caress on the cheek, a cool salvation in the summer, and a warning bearer before the impending storm. It was your eternal companion, leaping with your heart as you gazed at your lover on that midsummer field. And just like the wind he sang to you. His bright voice relays sonnets of centuries lost, of prevailing myths, and eternal love. His love. So attuned to his words, you didn’t notice the melody growing scarce.
This evening was drenched in melancholy familiarity, no different from the night before. Sitting in the nest of pillows, you hungrily welcomed the warmth from the fireplace. Little ambers dancing by you to tear your attention from the book on your lap. It wasn’t a difficult endeavour, your mind had been elsewhere for some time now.
“Probably at Angel’s Share.” You pondered your lover’s whereabouts.
At the start of your relationship, you expressed to Venti that despite your companionship you would not take away his freedom. He wasn’t a stranger to travels and you were no stranger to lonely nights, but he always came back. At least he did.
It’s been 2 weeks since he vanished without a word, slipping from your shared bed into the night. Your anticipation had long melted to worry, and that worry to rage.
Your musing was interrupted by a creak from the window, cold air rushing in, aggravating the fire beside you.
“Ven?” You whispered.
“It’s me.” He replied after pausing for a second. “I’ve been gone for a while ehe, sorry about that y/n”
Countless thoughts raced through your head. ‘Where have you been?’, ‘Why didn’t you contact me?’, ‘Are you hurt?’. But they all came to a halt when you saw his eyes. His gorgeous, anguished eyes.
Stumbling over the pillows, you inched closer. “You’re sober. Who are you and what did you do to Venti?” You half jested. Seeking answers on his face while simultaneously attempting to lighten the mood. He didn’t move an inch. Avoiding your eyes like the plague.
The anguish that had built up was resurfacing anew. You clenched your jaw, taking longer strides to reach him. Before you could utter another question, he carefully spoke.
“Y/n I..I have a confession to make. Please believe me when I say that this isn’t your fault.”
Your mind went silent and so did the world.
“Do you remember, a few weeks ago, I went out to try the Angel’s Share new wine speciality? Well, let’s just say it was much stronger than I anticipated and….”
“Go on.” You urged, feeling your patience slipping out of your grasp.
“And I lost my sense of judgment, and uh, as a result…I ..broke your trust..”
No.
No no no.
Please no.
“Y/N I’m so sorry. Please, I didn’t mean to go with her, but I couldn’t think straight in my drunken state. She didn’t mean anything to me, I swear!” He started pleading, your silence only raising the urgency in his voice.
“It took you 2 weeks to tell me this..” You uttered to yourself.
“I didn’t know how to face you.” He stepped closer, trying to take your hand as you rejected all advancements.
“Why did you...But… I trusted you!” Tears began obscuring your vision. “Every time you left, I waited! I waited and trusted you and you did this?” You grimaced further, hating how your voice broke. “Did I do something wrong? Were you bored of me?” You didn’t relent, interrupting his rebuttals after a second of consideration. “Aren’t you a God? Do Gods even get drunk?”
His silence was all the answers you needed.
“Leave.” You stated.
“Y/N please, I can’t fix this, we can work through this, I’m truly sorry, I am! I-”
“Leave my home, and don’t come back” You stated louder, fearing that your resolve would crumble if he stayed a moment longer. And so, after a pause, he left. Leaving the living room window ajar as you saw him for the last time.
The wind has never felt so hollow before.
