Warnings: mob business, guns and gunshots, Luke getting injured, fuzzy memory, I think that’s it. Please tell me if I missed something
A/n: here is the second installment! Basically a continuation of movie night, ruined. Enjoy!

You were so grateful that you had today off. You don’t think you would have been able to leave Luke alone in your apartment after last night.
After a pretty restless night spent worrying about Luke, you finally gave up on falling back asleep and got out of bed.
You made your way to the kitchen to make some much needed coffee, for both you and Luke.
Trying to make as little noise as possible, you quietly went through the motions of making coffee. You were grateful that you had coffee grounds handy and didn’t need to grind beans. The less noise you made, the better.
After the coffee had brewed and you grabbed two mugs from the cupboard, you heard some shuffling and grumbling from the living room.
Moments later, a tired Luke made his way into the kitchen.
“What the hell happened last night?” He asked, making his way to you and his mug of coffee.
You gave him an incredulous look, “I was going to ask you that.”
Luke took his first sip of coffee, savoring the flavor and warmth.
“There was a meeting between Nico and some business owner or something like that,” he started. “Jack usually goes along to those types of meetings. For some reason, I was there. But I think it was some sort of setup. Next thing I knew, we were ambushed.”
“And you or Jack mentioned that I was a nurse?” You asked, mentally filling in the blanks because you knew your best friend well.
“Yeah,” Luke replied. “And we were not too far. The rest is just hazy. But I do remember you patching me up.”
“Some things never change,” you said, referencing your time in college spent taking care of him.
“Did you really offer your nursing skills to my boss next time someone gets hurt? Or did I imagine that?” Luke asked, genuinely confused.
“Oh, ummm…” you trailed off, hiding behind your coffee mug and taking a sip.
“Don’t avoid the question,” Luke sassed you.
You rolled your eyes. “Fine. Yes I did.”
“My best friend becoming a mob nurse was not on my bingo card for the year, but here we are,” Luke cracked a joke.
You gently shoved him. “Nothing’s official. I just told Jack to reach out to me if you or someone else gets hurt. It’s not like I’m quitting my job or anything. You know I love the rush of the ER when it gets crazy.”
“Yeah but fishing bullets out of bodies can be a rush,” Luke said.
“I’m not a surgeon,” you corrected. “And I better not be fishing out bullets out of you. I will kill you. And tell your mother.”
Luke’s eyes went wide at the mention of Ellen. “Did you really threaten to tell my mom about Atlantic City?”
You giggled lightly. “Yup. And I will gladly use that card again until you give up and tell her yourself.”
“You, me, and Jack all promised to never speak of it again,” Luke groaned.
“Yeah, to each other,” you sassed. “You know me. You should have seen this coming.”
“Fair enough,” Luke shrugged, dropping the subject.
After a few moments of silence, you spoke up again.
“So I’ve heard the stories, but Nico doesn’t seem that scary,” you said.
Luke nearly choked on his coffee.
You went into nurse mode and grabbed water from the fridge for him.
“Thank you,” he said after he took a few sips and you went back to your mug to get a refill.
“So what I’m hearing, is that you like my boss,” Luke said, shit-eating grin on his face.
It was your turn to choke as your eyes grew wide and you started stuttering while you tried to explain yourself.
“I, uh, I, uhhh…” you trailed off before collecting yourself. “I just wasn’t intimidated by him. I was too focused on helping you.”
“Uh huh, sure,” Luke agreed apprehensively.
“Besides,” you started, “I definitely bossed him around last night since I was in trauma mode, so he probably doesn’t want to see me again.”
“Wait,” Luke said, gears turning in his head. “You gave my boss orders?”
You nodded, a nervous smile on your face.
“Now I wish I was more alert for that,” Luke said honestly. “No one ever bosses him around and gets away with it. You must be special if he didn’t snap at you.”
Your cheeks flushed. “I’m sure it’s nothing. I’m just your best friend. Nothing special.”
“You also became our official nurse,” he pointed out.
“For the last time, it’s not official,” you said, exasperatedly.
“I might have joined within the past year, but if Nico let you boss him around, you are definitely special,” Luke explained.
You rolled your eyes yet again. “I’m so sick of being told I’m special then have my heart broken. So I’ll pass. I’ll just patch you and your brothers up when needed and stay as far away from Nico’s attention as necessary.”
“I was right,” Luke said triumphantly. “You do like him.”
“I said no such thing,” you fought back.
“I know you and you’re not denying it,” Luke egged you on.
You set your mug down in a huff. “Fine. Maybe, kinda, yeah, sorta. But he probably doesn’t see me that way.”
“You never know unless you shoot your shot,” Luke gave you encouragement.
“As long as you keep your mouth shut and don’t tell Jack. I’ll tell him I like him if I still like him once I get to know him. And don’t rush me into saying anything. I only met him last night.”
“Still, you interacted with him enough to know you like him,” Luke kept pushing your buttons.
“Yeah, tell me something I don’t know,” you mumbled.
Luke moved to get a refill of his coffee after taking too much time to annoy you.
“Should we tell Jack that you’re fine and up and moving?” You asked.
“Nah,” Luke said. “We have more important matters to discuss.”
“I am not discussing how hot I think your boss is with you!” You tell him.
“Ha!” Luke exclaimed. “I knew you thought he’s hot.”
“Let me just dig myself into a deeper hole,” you mumbled with your cheeks flushed.
It was going to be a long morning if Luke didn’t stop harassing you about your crush on Nico.

So basically, Tyson jost and reader have a baby they nickname baby bean and Tyson is a dumbass when being left in charge and has a few of the avs over (this is how old this wip is) and they choose to watch jaws but bean wakes up and makes her way to the living room where the movie is on but no one noticed her so she sits and watches this shark and now she loves them and Tyson is not to be left alone with bean.

The au is a general universe. There is not a set in stone timeline or outline of chapters. There are installments and blurbs and headcanons.
Requests can be for anything within the universe, with the main pairing still being Nico x reader. This includes asking for scenes where reader is not present but Nico or someone else is. I also accept requests that focus on the reader x best friend!Luke platonic pairing.
Please specify when you’d like something set, ie: after movie night ruined but before Nico and reader get together or after reader becomes the official mob nurse but before Nico and reader get together or after Nico and reader get together. Movie night, ruined
Warnings: blood, Luke injured, mentions of guns and gunshot wounds, some swearing and calling someone a dumbass, this is a mob au. Please tell me if I missed something
A/n: it’s here! The first installment. I hope you enjoy!

You were worried.
Luke Hughes was not known to be the most punctual, but he was never this late.
As far as you knew, this was his only plan for the night. So why hasn’t he called or texted?
It was just supposed to be a routine movie night. You, Luke, and a movie you’ve seen so many times. Tonight’s pick was Valentine’s Day since you saw New Year’s Eve around the new year, and it just made sense. To you two, anyway.
Luke was hours late. You were about to start getting ready for bed, tired of waiting on the couch. He could just apologize in the morning once you got sleep.
As you were collecting the snacks off the coffee table, there was a knock on your door.
Who was knocking on your door at this hour?
You quickly put the things in your hands back down so you could answer the door.
As Luke always insisted, you looked through the peephole. He hated that your building didn’t have a doorman, so he got you in the habit of checking the peephole.
You were not prepared to see Luke slung around the shoulders of Jack and another guy, barely able to stand up himself.
You swung the door open rapidly, ushering the three men to come inside before the neighbors started asking questions. God forbid Nancy saw anything and spread the news like wildfire.
Once you got a better look at the three, you realized Nico was the other man holding up Luke.
“What the fuck happened?!?” You practically shouted at them.
“Do you really want to know? Or do you just want to fix him?” Jack spoke up before his boss could say anything.
You rolled your eyes in a huff, but gestured to the couch. “Sit him up on the couch and make sure he doesn’t lose consciousness. Jack, get water from the kitchen. You, make sure Luke stays upright. He can’t fall asleep. Not yet.”
Jack had a nervous look on his face because you bossed around the most feared man in the city, but he rushed to get water despite not having gone that far into your apartment before.
“I’ll be right back,” you told Nico before rushing to get your primary first aid kit.
When you returned, you had to speak up and say the one thing you were dreading. “What happened and how did he get hurt?”
Nico was about to answer, but Jack spoke up from the kitchen instead. “Where the fuck are your cups and why are they this hard to find?”
Yet another eye roll from you. “Just grab a bottle from the fridge,” you yelled back.
“Dumbass,” you muttered under your breath. You loved Luke like a brother but that didn’t mean you felt the same way about his brother.
You turned back to Luke to assess the damage. Multiple cuts on his face and body. Luckily, no gunshots. You honestly weren’t sure you would be able to help if he had gotten shot.
Jack came back to the living room and set the bottle on the table and proceeded to stay out of your way while still looking out for his little brother. Their mother would kill him if she found out just how injured the baby Hughes was.
You grabbed the iodine and some cotton pads, mentally preparing to make your best friend endure more discomfort than he already was.
“Luke, I’m sorry that this is going to sting, but I need to clean your wounds,” you said gently.
Luke just grumbled, so you proceeded after telling Nico to make sure to hold Luke still.
“I’ll start with your arms and work my way to your face. Please don’t hate me for this,” you said gently, using your nurse voice reserved for telling people that something bad has happened.
Luke flinched a little once you started cleaning his wounds. It proceeded to get worse, and your patience also got progressively worse.
“Luke if you do not stop squirming, I swear to god I will duct tape you to a chair and tell your mother about your weekend in Atlantic City,” you said in a very angry tone, sick of Luke’s shit.
Nico looked slightly confused, while Luke and Jack both had looks of “oh shit” on their faces.
Jack proceeded to sit on Luke’s other side to make sure he stayed still.
“We do not need mom knowing about what happened,” Jack said as Luke nodded as best as he could.
You proceeded to finish disinfecting every wound on your best friend’s body and add antibiotic cream to each one, finishing the worse wounds with bandages and letting the smaller ones breathe.
“Luke, I’m gonna grab you one of your spare outfits for you to wear so you can sleep comfortably. Couch or guest room?” You asked him, honestly not knowing if he would make it to the guest room.
“Couch,” he mumbled.
You scurried off to grab some sweats and a shirt for Luke from his designated drawer in your room.
You tossed the clothes at Jack once you made it back to the living room, “make sure he gets into these. I’ll clean up.”
You proceeded to gather up the first said kit while Jack helped Luke change and Nico just sat, not knowing what to do.
“Do you need help cleaning up?” Nico finally spoke to you, and if you weren’t so concerned with Luke, you may have had more time to admire him.
“Uh. No. I think I’m good. I’ve dealt with worse messes,” you said, not stopping what you were doing.
You put all the supplies back and slipped into the kitchen to get yourself your own bottle of water, giving Jack time to get Luke dressed.
As you finally had a moment to breathe and think, you realized you wouldn’t be able to handle seeing Luke hurt and not do anything about it.
After some time passed, Jack called out that Luke was successfully changed.
Walking back to the living room, you spoke up. “Call me immediately the next time he or someone else gets injured. I’ve seen enough questionable injuries at the hospital to know that I am your best option to avoid police questioning. Jack, you have my number. And please, for the love of all that is holy, stop doing dumb shit.”
You barely gave Jack time to respond before you spoke up again. “Now leave so Luke can rest. I’ll give you an update in the morning.”
Nico and Jack got up from their spots on your couch and proceeded to leave, you locking the door behind him.
You turned back to Luke and were worried about how the night was going to go.
“Can I have my blanket?” He asked weakly.
“Of course,” you said as you moved to grab it from its spot in your blanket basket.
You helped Luke lay down and get comfortable with the blanket tucked around him.
“Yell for me if you need anything, my door will be open,” you said before getting up to go back to your room. “Goodnight, Luke.”
“Goodnight, y/n,” Luke said with his eyes already closed.
You got ready for bed and were finally able to lay down and relax.
So why couldn’t you stop thinking about Nico?

things to know before you read
Y/n loves helping people and decided to go to nursing school in Michigan
There, she met Luke Hughes, business student, because they were in the same orientation group
There was no attraction. It was more a mutual feeling of “I am surrounded by shallow idiots and you seem to have substance”
So they became best friends despite their clashing majors and schedules
It got to the point where Ellen included items for y/n in her care packages to Luke and even special care packages just for y/n
Everyone thought they would get together, but they saw each other as siblings
“Ew, gross, he’s basically my brother”
They started movie nights because y/n wasn’t a party person and barely had time with her workload
It generally occurred at her place because she chose to always live alone. Roommates were not her style, and Luke had too many to have a peaceful movie night at his
Once y/n got accepted to nursing schools, before she even decided to go to umich for sure, she knew that she wanted to apply to hospitals and clinics all over the states to keep her options open and see where the universe takes her
Once she becomes besties with Luke and as school progressed, she realized she wanted to be relatively close to him because she couldn’t picture her life without him being her annoying best friend nearby
Jersey was already a state she was considering, but knowing Luke wanted to join his brother Jack after college pushed her a little further in that direction
After graduation, Luke moved in with Jack with the hope of joining the same mob his brother is in, while y/n found a place on her own not too far from the hospital she would be working at
Y/n knew about the mob from Luke and the stories he could share from Jack
But she didn’t think it would affect her life as much as it did once she started living in Jersey
The amount of questionable injuries she saw as an ER and trauma nurse were enough for the police to take her statement at least once a week
She carries a pocketknife and pepper spray on her, per Luke’s insistence
She has to remember to leave them behind each time she goes to a place with bag check and/or metal detectors
And she would generally be with Luke in those situations to make sure she wasn’t alone
Luke naturally has a spare key to her place, especially since there is no doorman in y/n’s building
He even made sure she got into the habit of checking her peephole each time there was a knock on her door
Y/n knows Jack from him chauffeuring his brother from time to time and other meetups
She hasn’t officially met Nico but she knows who he is, as does the rest of the city and greater area
Nico knows of y/n through Luke because he makes sure that he knows his brothers and any potential weaknesses that could be used against them
But he’s never actually met her because Luke does his best to make sure she’s not dragged into the life
The nhl exists, but the players used as mobsters are not in the league
Mob “families” are not traditional in this universe because they are based on hockey teams than actual families
The main mobs in this universe are the devils and the rangers
The teams replacing them in this universe are the New Jersey angels and the New York Americans
Most of my knowledge of mobs comes from tv, so this is not accurate or realistic by any means

Oh you already know it’s gonna be the mob au for me.
So obviously mob boss Nico and reader. Definitely after reader is the official nurse and after they get together and become official.
Like it’s been a good month for them. Nico is at the top of his game. Reader hasn’t been called in to take care of anyone.
Maybe reader is living with nico at this point and he decides to spoil her for a day or night and they’re just having the time of their lives. And obviously reader enjoys it but definitely played it cool because she’s just not used to being treated so nicely.
Idk. I have a very clear image form the behind the scenes of the music video video and now I can’t stop laughing.
