Peter Struck - the biker
As you should by now know, I am a real sucker for a handsome, mature biker. Especially when that biker is a pipe-smoking gentleman. Peter Struck (24th January 1943 - 19th December 2012), German politician and former defence minister, was one such man.
Tumblr media
Equally well known for his passion for biking as for his pipe smoking.
And that beautiful white moustache is an added bonus.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
No pictures of him smoking his pipe with motorbike, but this is the closest I have come so far.

Handsome, balding man, sharp suit, black leather gloves, cigar. What more could I ask for?

Burl Ives - born to smoke cigars
Tumblr media
One thing I can say about Burl Ives (apart from his being stunningly handsome, with an attractive body and a fantastic voice) is that the man knew how to smoke a cigar.
Tumblr media
In fact, he spends most of this scene hardly taking it out of his mouth.
Tumblr media
Most pictures of him I have in my collection show him smoking a cigar or a pipe.
Tumblr media
Clearly, he was born to it. The heavens be praised that there are still men out there like Burl.

Maigret enjoying male company
Tumblr media
Apart from when he is with his wife (played in the Rupert Davies series by Helen Shingler), very rarely does Maigret interact with women other than as witnesses, suspects or victims.
Tumblr media
He clearly prefers the company on gentlemen. Preferably pipe or cigar-smoking gentlemen.
Tumblr media
This is a particularly good example: a beefy, handsome, mature, cigar-smoking gentleman. I like to imagine they are working towards putting their drinks down and heading for bed... I know I wouldn't turn either of them down.

Maigret in gloves - The Fontenay Murders
The Fontenay Murders (BBC - 1963) is, to my mind, one of the weaker Miagret episodes (and also one of the weaker Simenon novels).
Tumblr media
But I watch it again and again. I wonder if you can guess why?
Tumblr media
Of course, another episode with the famous detective in leather gloves. Irresistible.
Tumblr media
Of course, Rupert Davies does not need a pair of leather gloves to enhance his stunning handsome beauty - that comes naturally to him.
Tumblr media
But the sight of him in leather gloves does feed my sexual attraction to him.
Tumblr media
And, of course, put a pipe in his mouth, held by his gloved hand, and things really start to move down below.
There is, of course, more Rupert Davies as Maigret to come (gloved or otherwise) because I am obsessed with the man.

Roger Ward - b. 1936
There is surprisingly little out there about Australian hard-man actor Roger Ward but here are a few things you really need to know:
Tumblr media
Bald (Mad Max - 1979).
Tumblr media
2. Moustache (Mad Max - 1979).
Tumblr media
3. Cigars (Bad Behaviour - 2010).
Tumblr media
4. Leather (Mad Max - 1979).
Tumblr media
5. Thug (Bad Behaviour publicity still).
Tumblr media
The kind of man who makes being a homosexual pervert so fucking brilliant.

Georges Charles Brassens - sale petit bonhomme
I don't always post pictures of men I would like (or have liked) to sleep with. That might surprise you.
Tumblr media
There are very few images of the man where I find a certain sexual attraction (although this one...maybe). For those of you who don't know, Georges Brassens (1921-1981) was a French singer-songwriter who became a French national treasure.
Tumblr media
Self-taught in music and classical literature, his songs are masterworks of melodic complexity and literary gymnastics. Am I getting carried away here? Yes, probably. He was a genius and a hero of mine and one of my two favourite artists (Brel being the other, and I cannot decide which of them I love most).
Tumblr media
He could also be obscene (listen to Le Gorille or Le Temps ne fait rien à l'affaire) for which he was criticised, so he produced Le Pornographe du phonographe. He also wrote La Mauvaise réputation, currently my favourite, about being frowned upon by les braves gens.
Tumblr media
Famous as a pipe-smoker (though he occasionally smoked cigars), politically engaged and with a wonderful deep voice and Provençal accent. Listen to Mourir pour des idées, one of the angriest songs I've ever heard.
Tumblr media
He died aged 60 (looking at the image above it's hard to believe he was that young), but he packed in at least two lifetimes of wonderful songs that live on. Oh, and the moustache. Mustn't overlook the moustache.

Maigret in Gloves
Tumblr media
There are a few Rupert Davies Maigret episodes where we encounter Maigret in leather gloves. This episode, "Peter the Lett" (Pierre le Letton) (1963) involves one of Maigret's saddest cases. Here, we see Maigret with Hector Torrence, one of his faithful assistants, waiting for swindler, Peter the Lett, at the Gare du Nord.
Tumblr media
Torrence, played by Victor Lucas (not to be confused with Sergeant Lucas (Inspecteur Lucas) played by the excellent Ewan Solon), is fatally shot at a hotel.
Tumblr media
Nice view of his gloves here - I wish we saw them in more episodes.
Tumblr media
Towards the end of the episode, Maigret and Lucas discover the body of a man passing off as Peter the Lett dead on a beach. We only see one glove as Maigret has been shot at the hotel, putting the other arm out of action.
Tumblr media
A pity we don't see him in gloves and smoking his pipe (we do in another episode, which I will try and locate stills of).
Tumblr media
Even so (and even with poor quality images), the sight of Rupert Davies in leather gloves is particularly alluring.
Fun fact: in a later book, Simenon invents a conversation with his own creation. The premise is that the novels are all journalistic reportage, with Simenon (referred to as "Sim") shadowing Maigret through each investigation. Simenon admits that, in Pierre le Letton, he lied: it was not Torrence who died but another officer. Maigret tells Sim that Torrence was annoyed at being killed off in the book and Maigret still sees him regularly when he comes by to show off his new sports car and with a new girl in his arm, .

Sydney Hughes Greenstreet - 1879-1954
I've left this fine British actor, born in Sandwich, Kent, quite late but not because he comes low down my list of sexually attractive men. Quite the contrary.
Tumblr media
For me, everything about him (including his voice) screams dominant sexual predator (here in "The Maltese Falcon" - 1941). Incredibly his film acting career didn't begin until he was 61 (although he was a stage actor for some time before then). We clearly missed out on a lot.
Tumblr media
So let's look at his credentials, shall we?
Cigar smoker.
Tumblr media
2. Balding (and often quite threatening).
Tumblr media
3. Jowly.
Tumblr media
4. Hefty (in fact, somewhat fat, but not too much. Just big enough for a good cuddle).
Tumblr media
5. Leather glove wearer.
Tumblr media
6. Impeccably well dressed.
Tumblr media
7. Smouldering good looks.
Tumblr media
Did I mention cigar smoker?
Tumblr media
8. Looked fantastic in a hat.
All in all, the kind of man I would willingly have found myself held down by. I would willingly have done anything he wanted to please him.
Downsides: no facial hair (the occasional beard or moustache wouldn't have gone amiss); haven't found a picture with a pipe (but I'll keep looking); would like to see more of him in leather gloves, especially holding a pipe or cigar or with a revolver (reference his contemporary, the equally handsome Nigel Bruce). But that's about it, really.

Olbram Soubek - 1926-2017
Czech sculptor and designer, Olbram Soubek, was one of Europe's greatest modern artists.
Tumblr media
He also happened to be a stunningly handsome man.
Tumblr media
Balding, bearded and stocky, with powerful piercing eyes.
Tumblr media
Really, one of my ideal mature gentlemen.
Tumblr media
I would happily have given myself over to him for whatever sordid pleasure he chose.

Some more gentleman bikers
Tumblr media
Not wild on the man (mature though he is), but the gloves are nice and it's a Norton, so this picture gets over the hurdle.
Tumblr media
Love the beard, love the goggles. Nice gloves, too.
Tumblr media
No idea what this man looks like and the helmet design is, to put it mildly, not my cup of tea, but it's full black leather on a motorbike with a nice pair of goggles and a nice pair of gloves.
Tumblr media
Didn't know the Lorax was a biker.

When full leather counts...
Tumblr media
As a biker of many years standing (riding?), I do enjoy getting out on Bernie the Bonneville in one of my full black leather suits of the kind this mature gentleman is wearing. Preferably with nothing on underneath (weather permitting).
Tumblr media
A close-up on that thin, unlined, wrist-length leather glove. They offer no protection whatsoever in a crash, but I'm sure he would agree with me: that's not the point.
Tumblr media
The point is, if one of your perversions is riding a motorbike in tight black leather (one of many of mine), then you don't spoil the effect by wearing heavy, cumbersome gloves. Mind you, a nice, white beard wouldn't go amiss. And he needs a hair cut. I'd also recommend he keeps his mouth shut: flies really don't taste that good.
I'd still have him, though.

Edward Hardwicke
Tumblr media
And a happy 2024 to all of you who share some/all of my particular perversions. I have been out of action for a while, nursing Brian after he went down with a nasty virus before Christmas. He's back to fighting strength and grumpy as ever, so I can resume posting my obsessions.
Tumblr media
I see no reason why I should not revising one of our favourite actors, made all the more attractive by regular pipe smoking and, of course, the wearing of leather gloves.
Tumblr media
The pictures could be clearer, but they're as good as I could edit. The finer details I will leave to your depraved imaginations.

I'm a sucker for Old English Gentlemen. You should have a JRR Tolkien aprpeciation post. Lots of pics of him smoking his pipe.
That's very true and I have been scouting around for some suitable pictures, so watch this space.

Edward Hardwicke - Watson the glove man
And then, of course, put a pair of leather gloves on him and it takes him to a whole different level.
Tumblr media
Any man looks better in leather gloves but when he's already as handsome as Edward...
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Even when it's not Hardwicke at his best, the look of that shiny black leather just seems to elevate him.

Edward Hardwicke - Watson the pipe man
Tumblr media
You know, a good test of a man's attractiveness is for me to go away for a while and come back to photographs I've not seen in ages. Sometimes the man I had held in my memory is no match for what I find and I wonder what I saw in him in the first place.
Tumblr media
Not so Edward Hardwicke. I fell in love with the handsome leather-glove-wearing pipe-smoker back when I was still a young man and he still provides an erection in me even now.
Tumblr media
So he deserves a few more pictures being posted. Here I'm concentrating on his pipe smoking. He look so comfortable with a pipe (in his mouth, in his hand) you feel he was (much like Govoruchin or Rupert Davies) born to it.

Walter Leland Cronkite Jr - 1916-2009
I make no apologies for re-posting pictures of this great American broadcast journalist as part of a dedicated post to the man.
Tumblr media
For millions of Americans, Walter Cronkite was CBS News through some of the most dramatic events of the 20th Century (JFK's assassination, the Vietnam war, to name but two).
Tumblr media
A handsome pipe smoker, he had a profile so great that he even became well known on this side of the Atlantic.
Tumblr media
He possessed a quality that is now lost to journalists and politicians alike: gravitas.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
In addition to anchoring the news, he also had a big enough reputation to get to interview some of the most sought-after names of the day (such as Che Guevara and Anwar Sadat).
Tumblr media
And he smoked his pipe on air. Those were the days...
Tumblr media
And the man had the looks as well as the voice. If he'd ever wanted a bit of relief from me, he wouldn't have had to ask twice.
