I have to say this here as my only safe space. In the last year, my boss (director) had a mental breakdown, went on a LOA for three months, came back and bemoaned my promotion to Senior Manager.

She finally left at the end of June and I’m being prepped to be the new director.

The first test is presenting in a more polished way next week at an all staff summit. I’m super uncomfortable in my body and have no idea how to dress in a more elevated way to present that I am capable of director level presentation.

I freaked out and bought a subscription to rent the runway for the occasion.

It may end with me looking stupid or it may end with me feeling comfortable in my body and able to be a more elevated version of myself.

If this goes well, I’ll present a major initiative to the senior leadership team the following week and if that goes well, I’m confident that I’ll be the new director.

I know clothes are dumb and not something I care much about but it feels important.

Be me but elevated

Be professional but still me

Present like a leader

Get proper headshots taken

It’s all very frightening.
