Stepping or step dancing is “a percussive dance in which the participant’s body is used to produce complex rhythms and sounds through a mixture of footsteps, spoken word, and hand-claps,” writes the African American Registry.

Step has its origins in Africa, as dancing has been a large part of traditional African culture for centuries.

Calling Step a "bizarre silent dance without music" has to be one of the wilder antiblack racist descriptions I've ever heard of stepping lmao. Anyway if you see the video, it's step!!! They're stepping!! It's a Black American form of dance!!

Biography: At birth, Queen Mother Crossbow decided to name her after her own mother, the first Queen Mother Macerate, causing controversy due to Macerate's history with the Field Ants. This controversial name caused the colony to doubt in Macerate II, making her strive for perfection and undying loyalty to her colony.

Once, the young Queen stumbled upon a slug of a nearby Kingdom, introducing herself as Mulch. The two grew close, seeing each other’s company as an escape from reality. But, they had a falling out, leaving Macerate alone with her thoughts once more.

During a battle with a lizard, Crossbow was eaten. Overtaken with grief, Macerate II leapt at it with a dagger, but vanished into its maw. Suddenly, its throat was gashed open from the inside. Macerate II emerged, an antennae gone and her face cracked open, but alive, finally being crowned the new Queen.

Today, Queen Mother Macerate II has become a fierce militaristic force. She currently has an upper hand on the Field Ants, but a devastating event lurking on the horizon will put her strength and her faith in Ant Law to the test. The possible danger of the Field Ant/Bee alliance threatening her to choose between an "ant's dignity"- sticking to Ant Law of never appearing weak- or, swallow her pride and accept the help brought by her long forgotten friend, Queen Mulch; And maybe, just maybe, right the wrongs between them both.

It could very much just be a case of the authors forgetting that part, which I would be fine with - a little annoyed- but fine with it

BUT THEN the fandom shat their pants and screamed that FernSong was "the number one den dad who loves his babies and his girlboss wife", then they began infantilizing him and making him a "malewife"

and from then on I've been locked into an eternal battle of wanting FernSong to have the most painful, slow, gruesome death imaginable

But I've been content with making him a deadbeat father

The entire situation of people revering FernSong for something that nearly everyone hated the female characters in the series for doing is what really did it for me. FernSong is not a den dad, he doesn't love his kids (Hell, he doesn't even talk to them), he doesn't talk to his wife beyond just "And FernSong and IvyPool were sharing tongues and letting out ''mrrows" of happiness". I hope he dies

I'm actually super glad we're having a conversation about this. The masculinization of black and brown women, because for years I felt like I endured this unique form of trauma until I realized other people went through the same thing too. And if there's one thing that I'd like to add to the conversation, there seems to be this misconception that this is something that starts at puberty. Like boys tell you you look like a man to hurt your feeling when that's so far from the case.

The first time I was purposefully misgendered was in kindergarten. I was constantly referred to by the masculine variant of my name, I was chased out of the women's restroom, and I had grown adults questioning what my biological sex was before I even knew what the difference was. And those behaviors persisted into adulthood because now if I present as anything less than 100% feminine, people will either compare me to men or animals.

And for myself and for many other brown and black women this is a life long act deliberately intended to humiliate, shame, and other us for the features we were naturally born with and I'm glad we're having a discussion on how harmful it actually is.]
