Silver’s precognition may not be a psychic power but instead could actually be him remembering things that haven’t happened yet.

Silver isn’t completely decoupled from the timestream and at least his memories are still being affected by time travel. Notably the Japanese version of Team Sonic Racing also implies that Sonic remembers the events Sonic 06 while Silver does not.

In the story mode of Team Sonic Racing, Blaze the Cat poses the possibly of Silver the Hedgehog gaining some kind of precognition, due to his constant travel through time, as the entire game Silver has an increasing feeling that something bad is going to happen.

This feeling possibly leads to Dodon Pa's kidnapping, the stealing of the Ultimate Energy Engine and the explosion of Eggman's Final Fortress which all happen around the end of the Story Mode.

However, as Silver himself mentions, this feeling may be some form of general anxiousness or anxiety. Although Silver has appeared in other media since then, mainly the IDW Comics, no mention of this idea has been made again.

Silver is a hedgehog who came from the future to change the devastated future world. He uses his ESP powers to move various objects with psychokinesis. Although he has a tendency to be a bit rash, he has a positive attitude and a strong sense of justice despite being raised in a devastated future. He continues to fight to restore peace to the world.

Silver is a pure, positive and passionate person. He maintains hope and optimism no matter the circumstances and is a positive figure that brings hope to others during dark times, his way of life that inspires others and makes them want to cheer him on. Silver has a very strong sense of justice and is forthright, straightforward and honest, being very direct and to the point. Silver is a genuine and warm person whose purity makes others want to support him, though with this purity also comes naïveté and immaturity. Silver is juvenile and as such has a notably brash personality that can get competitive, abrasive and riled up.

Silver feels things strongly, sometimes he tends to deal with things too head-on because of the strength of his feelings, or tends to take everything on himself, making him rush at times. Though his rage and joy are loud, Silver also has a quiet and introspective side that deeply considers his actions and the meaning of things.

Due to being raised in a violent devastated future, Silver is a fierce warrior that can endure great pain and bring down great power without mercy, having fought and struggled from an early age, Silver is aggressive and has an often reckless head on approach so he benefits from having composed partners to pull him back, though this does not mean he’s incompetent, Silver is a very powerful and sharp agent that can only truly be held back by doubt.

One of the cut items from Sonic 06 was a Speed Chip that would allow Silver to move faster. This item was cut from game because the speed change could not be coded properly as even if you hack the game to purchase it the boost will not work. Project 06 was able to get around this by making the speed boost part of Silver’s base speed instead .

All three hedgehogs in 06 would have had “chips” that upgrade their movement. Sonic had the Light Chip and Shadow had the Air Chip that that both granted them the Light Speed Dash but Silver’s Speed Chip would simply make his movement speed closer to Sonic and Shadow’s which symbolizes him being younger and less developed than the other two hedgehogs. 

Despite it being cut from 06 Silver still seems to have an acquired a speed boost as he is much faster in later games than he is 06, though still nowhere near Sonic and Shadow.

Act4: “Into the darkness”

Soleana Castle Town is a water capital where beautiful waterways spread out in all directions.

A magnificent silver tray suspended in the bay...In a corner of the national water skating rink, there was a woman staring at the cold, empty ice and sighing sadly.

"Not me..."

Her name is "Elise".

A young skater who has been hailed as the "queen" in her singles, she is currently facing a major problem.

The song she was asked to perform at a pair skating competition, which had been her life's goal, turned out to be a song that reminded her of her late parents, who raised her with love and care as her teachers. When she hears this song, Elise is moved to tears by the happy memories of her former girlfriend, and is unable to perform as a girl.

Unsure of her practice and unable to find a partner to pair up with... Elise was at a dead end, and before she knew it, she was venting her worries to the starry sky.

At times like that...

"I heard your story! I'll help you."

Elise turns around when she hears a voice from behind, and there he is, a former skater, and an elusive and famous coach who has left a brilliant record among the athletes who have taken his lessons...an unknown among skaters. There was a figure of a famous person with no one, ``Silver the Hedgehog''.

"It's okay! I'll support you to the fullest!"

She couldn't be more fortunate if he were to be her partner. But... the biggest problem lies within her own heart.

While Elise remained with her head down, Silver took her hand, handed her his pendant, and said,

"You're not alone. Everything will be fine. This is your talisman."

The blue gem seemed to shine brightly, as if to encourage her.

Suddenly, Elise noticed that the rain around her suddenly stopped.

When she looked up at the sky, she saw a silver figure floating in the air, surrounded by emerald green light. A gentle film of light spreads from her palm as she holds it up to the sky, covering Link and repelling the rain.

Silver speaks to Elise, who is holding her breath.

"Actually, I'm a psychic..."

Silver continues speaking as Elise hurries up saying that it's a waste of time to practice.

The reason he switched from being a player to being a coach was because he feared that this power might come out during competition, even unconsciously. He says he wants to use this power not for himself, but to help others.

Amidst the heavy rain, only the skating rink remains silent, with white mist clinging to the ice surface.

Elise, who felt Silver's kindness in a dream-like fantasy space, felt a flame of courage ignite in her chest that inspired her.

...The rain stopped before we knew it, and Silver also joined the practice. It's finally time to wrap up the rehearsal.

As Elise continued to perform in harmony with his partner, he found himself enjoying this song, which was a symbol of sadness. And her feelings resonate with the happy memories of practicing with her parents.

She loved her parents, but she loved the song just as much. Warm tears filled Elyse's eyes as she remembered this, but her performance did not stop, but rather became brighter.

And the most difficult, the climax, the twin/triple axel. It seemed like he was going to show off a brilliant rotation from his high jump, but...!

Under the starry sky after the rain, a hot wind slowly blew between the two of us on the ice.

On the day of the competition...the pair appear like meteors on the rink that springs up during the festival, captivating the audience with their beautiful performance.

And the triple axel in question...!

Elise was about to give in to the dark premonition that came to her just before taking off, but what she saw reflected in her eyes was...Silver's smile. Her trust, her happy training time, and the fond memories she had with her parents have supported Elise to this day.

Both of them made a spectacular jump and landed perfectly at the same time! Loud cheers!

The two received the honor of being the brightest pair that day...!

The tournament is over...

On the deserted link, Elise returns the pendant to Silver. It is something she no longer needs after overcoming her past and growing up.

to me if you want to understand silver the hedgehog what you need to get is that he really has 2 core character traits that define his personality and from which all of his other traits stem from

i find shadow and silver can be pretty similar in a lot of ways; they both have darker pasts that haunt them and affect their actions, they both can get very serious and focused on goals to the point of pushing other people away from them, they can both resort to shadier methods than sonic, they both tend to act abrasive and rude but have kind hearts and dedicate their lives to helping the world. the main thing that sets them apart is that shadow (and sonic to a point) tend to be more mature while silver is very very childish.

his childishness is the root of his black and white thinking, his naïveté, his optimism and his tendency to act brashly. his lack of experience in social settings also feeds into these traits.

his other most important trait is, fairly obviously, his determination. id probably call silver one of, if not the, most determined characters in the franchise. hes so determined to save the future that very little else matters to him. its what makes him act so serious, so self sacrificing, so dedicated beyond bounds. his compassion also ties into this, its what motivates him.

a lot of these traits actually have origins in both his childishness and his determination. hes brash both because hes childish and no one ever taught him manners and because hes so determined to finish his goals that he doesnt have time for other people to get in his way. hes optimistic and naive both because hes childish and didnt learn not to be and because he has to hope for and take any solution possible no matter how unlikely.

Headcanon: Blaze and Silver have darker, more amber colored eyes in the Sonic Rush and Rivals series to represent their personalities being in a darker place as they haven’t learned to accept help from others yet. This also applies to Blaze in 06 as she is still somewhat emotionally distant without her Rush experiences but not Silver who had already fully opened up to her.

They have brighter yellow colored eyes in subsequent games, particularly in Team Sonic Racing, to represent their brighter dispositions after learning the value of friendship.
