Streaming is the key to success—this week stream Season 1!
We all love to watch Shadow and Bone—it’s the show that brought the Third Army together and the reason we keep fighting to see more of those brilliant characters and book storylines shown on screen. But why is streaming crucial to our strategy?
For a start, showrunner Eric Heisserer has very recently given us confirmation that, for now, Netflix is still our best bet to #SaveShadowAndBone and greenlight the #SixOfCrowsSpinoff. This means it's all the more important to keep streaming Shadow and Bone! So from Apr. 29-May. 5, we need you to stream Season 1 of Shadow and Bone exclusively on Netflix, on repeat!
It's a vital part of our strategy for the following reasons:
- Watching a season at a time, with the volume on, all the way through every episode is the way that Netflix counts their streams. Only watch Season 1 this week, do NOT stream Season 2 for now!
- We need every stream we can to get Shadow and Bone trending again. A high number of streams shows Netflix hard data that proves there continues to be demand and passion for this show even this long after the release of Season 2. And demand means money for Netflix.
- Due to the way things are handled in the show business, Netflix is still our best bet for renewal. Using their own platform to show them that we mean business is one of the best steps we can continue to take for this campaign. Or should I say, what business, Netflix?
thinking about how when you experience a lot of shame in your formative years (indirectly, directly, as abuse or just as an extant part of your environment) it becomes really difficult to be perceived by other people in general. the mere concept of someone watching me do anything, whether it's a totally normal activity or something unfamiliar of embarrassing, whether I'm working in an excel spreadsheet or being horny on main, it just makes my skin crawl and my brain turn to static because I cannot convince myself that it's okay to be seen and experienced. because to exist is to be ashamed and embarrassed of myself, whether I'm failing at something or not, because my instinctive reaction to anyone commenting on ANYTHING I'm doing is to crawl into a hole and die. it's such a bizarre and dehumanizing feeling to just not be able to exist without constantly thinking about how you are being Perceived. ceaseless watcher give me a god damn break.
The Tortured Poets Department is a great reminder that women don't owe the world pretty. Taylor Swift doesn't owe anyone an easily digestible pretty pop album wrapped in a bow with short songs you can make TikToks to. She's allowed to present something raw, uncomfortable, and vulnerable to the world.
“i hate it here” is peak escapism and hearing her talk about how she lives in a garden no one else has access to in her mind (unlike the rest of her life) for most of the year is sooooo. made up scenarios and imagining living in the 1800s… it’s giving the lakes except she’s alone and she can’t actually leave. so much of the album is about feeling stuck and this one is about feeling stuck in herself.
