Top 9 Instagram 2020 2020 was a really rough year with a lot of life changing decisions. I first designed it in Adobe Illustrator and then converted it into a file for PE Design. Amicia de Rune-A plague tale commission ⁣ Phew finally this project is finished and I can flood you with WIP pictures. As some might have noticed my last real post was in May. 2020 was a really tough year for me so far with a lot of action and life-changing moments. As a not so funny add-on corona came and made it even worse. ⁣ I took a long break from June to september with sewing and stuff cause I renovated my now really beautiful flat (with alot of help from my family). then there was a really intense protect at work, which is still going. ⁣ It took me some time to rest and get the strength to sew and go on with the commissions I took before my time out. Luckily I have super nice and patient customers who were happy to wait these 3 months. ⁣ But now I am back again:) And I hope you enjoy the new posts with WIPs of the game character Amicia. This commission is for a repeat customer. She also commissioned the „Boy of Silence" and I am really happy that she also trusted me with this detailed character. Aurora quilt - part VII ⠀⠀ I don't have any pictures of the binding process. But after finishing the quilting i cut out long stripes of my back fabric and sew them together. Then i cut down the quilt in the correct shape. More or less. I guess if you would use a gigantic triangle ruler, it might not be 100% exact^^°. But you won't be able to see that with your eyes. Sooo who cares ;D ⠀⠀ So now I pinned the binding onto the top fabric side of the quilt. If you measure the binding correctly you can easily align it to the border of the quilt and get a perfect result. ⠀⠀ I sew one side of the binding onto the quilt with my sewing machine. So far…the easy part. Now i flipped the binding over the border of the quilt, tugged it in and had to sew the other side of the binding onto the back fabric by hand. ⠀⠀ BTW, there are nice tutorials on how to sew binding with a nice corner. ⠀⠀ And here, after I would say around 10 hours + of handsewing the binding… my Aurora Quilt :D <3 I love it. ⠀⠀ I got many scratches from needles, pins etc., had quiet some headaches cause of backpain sitting on the ironing board while sewing (but this was a great help to manage the giant fabric under my sewing machine!!!).. Aurora quilt - part VI ⠀⠀ Finally the quilting part! I was so exited to start with this step :-))) and may have underestimated the whole thing..just a little bit ^^° cause here I paused my sewing, cause the quilting cost me all my nerves… but nearly 6 months later I started again and finally finished the quilting. ⠀⠀ I mixed using a straight sewing foot and a freehand foot. I hate this little devil.. Especially when you make a big and heavy quilt the freehand foot is really hard to handle and it is difficult as hell to get nice lines… i don't know how. Aurora quilt - part IV ⠀⠀ Now back fabric, the filling and the top fabric where layed onto each other. I made the Back fabric and the filling bigger on purpose. It helps if cause of the quilting your top fabric may change the position later. ⠀⠀ And now i pinned all three layers together.
