You said that a movie changing something to maintain a rating isn't censorship.
That applies to ALL things, not just nude scenes. That includes LGBT characters and themes, because other cultures may view those things as inherently adult or 'degenerate'.
That's why Sailor Moon removed the LGBT relationships in the show. Because it wasn't "appropriate for kids" AKA "it didn't match the show's rating" in the west.
It wasn't illegal to do so in the USA to depict LGBT relationships.
This is the EXACT same thing that happened with Legend of Korra too. AND Steven Universe when they censored a lesbian kiss in Britain. It wasn't the government, it was because they knew people not see it as 'kid friendly'.
That's censorship. But you said that changing things in a film to maintain an age rating 'isn't censorship'. So your criteria is wrong. Period. Or you can stick by what you said.
But as an artist who is also LGBT, I'm not in favor of censorship. Not when it's gay characters being censored, not when it's risque content being removed. None of it.
You want to pick and choose what is/isn't censorship based purely on your feelings and what you need to downplay what you think doesn't matter. That's it.
As for your second point, Sony is the publisher for Stellar Blade. There cant' be a 'fight' between them because ShiftUp is under contract with them.
If Sony demands censorship, which we know they do, then ShiftUp has to comply. And they cannot throw Sony under the bus because doing so would destroy their studio.
Just like with Tencent, ShiftUp has to accept the censorship put on them and then own it as if it was their decision.
Because, yeah. The people who developed Nikke are going to just slap on a pair of panties to cover up the character's hips when they don't even match the color of the outfit or integrates well.
Stellar Blade Censorship
Once again, something risque gets censored and people rush in to say "omg who cares" or "stop being horny".
I'm not big on the game. But the devs had a vision and it was censored. Sony is notorious for stupid censorship of games produced outside of the EU/America and this is another case of it.
Remember what they did with DMC5? Among other games.
Tumblr media
We are at a point where corporations are trying to pressure out anything NSFW, like Gumroad evicting anything too risque at the behest of Mastercard and Stripe.
And this is the exact same sentiment. I do not care if it's only adding a bit of fabric to her outfits or the gore is toned down. It is still censorship and against the devs' artistic vision.
The fact that people are willing to let this slide because a personal bias or prudishness is absolutely shameful. If you don't like the art, that doesn't mean you should approve of the art getting censored for no damn reason.
It seems so easy to make people defend censorship. All you have to do it cover a bit of skin and they'll shrug, yet they'll be surprised when their NSFW artist friend gets nuked off of a site.
Stop defending censorship of art for the sake of corporate approval/sensibilities.

So the English dub of Sailor Moon removing the gay relationships isn't censorship then, right?
Blizzard ripping out LGBT content when shipping abroad isn't censorship of artistic intent?
Korra/Asami not being permitted to kiss wasn't censorship?
And yes, when asked about similar things in Nikke, they gave the same answer. And we know, as a matter of public record, that Tencent censored them in this case.
Tumblr media
We have patterns of behavior. We know Sony censors games. We know ShiftUp doesn't admit when they've been censored by their publisher.
And, in an interview with IGN with Kim and Yoko Taro, it's implied that Sony HAS interfered with the game.

"the suppression of any [media] that are considered obscene" fits this situation.
Your second point is irrelevant. They added more cloth to the design, often haphazardly, and last minute. These are the people who made Nikke, which is far more open about scantily clad women.

Removal of gore.

'Fixed' the outfit by... slapping panties on to her model under the clothes.
The studio head also said it was their decision when Tencent censored them with Nikke. And it's a fact of public record that Tencent DID censor them.
No studio is going to say that Sony forced them to censor their game, just like they didn't when Tencent did. Doing so would open them up to lawsuits.
Meanwhile, we have multiple games, like DoA and DMC5, that have been confirmed to be censored by Sony. Not the developers themselves. Sony.
If we want to go by what the devs said, the devs explicitly said they'd release the game with no censorship. It was their intent to have the pre-patch outfits as they were, yet they were censored between that announcement and launch.

That user was proven to be lying in his own replies. People posted video evidence of the before and after. It's likely he was using an unpatched version of the game for both examples.
It's not just two inches of fabric. It's multiple outfits and the game's gore.
And yes, it's censorship. The game went gold with the the original outfits, which means the change was made after the outfits were finalized.
The outfits were censored so slapdash, it's clear it was done last minute. You can see where the additions are because the the clothing is at least one of the below:
A. Low resolution B. Mismatched C. Painted on to the character's skin, rather than modifying the outfit
It's so bad that you can actually see where they added the extra cloth by how much it doesn't match the rest.
This is the exact same kind of low-effort censorship Sony has engaged in with other games, as evidence by DMC5 above.
An appeal to triviality doesn't work. If video games are art, then they have artistic merit and artistic vision, which means we should be pushing back against its censorship.
To go "lol, stop being horny. Let us cover this up" is the exact same justification that was used by the church to deface nude statues with plaster fig leaves.
You'll clap for corporate censorship of NSFW stuff and then wonder why sites like Gumroad and Tumblr have censored and exiled NSFW artists.

Gore would stick to the main character's body during combat. This was patched out.
Several outfits were changed, such as adding fabric or a bra to them to cover more skin and/or remove cleavage.

People are still finding things that have been censored, so this likely won't be all of it.
Edit: It's laughable how obviously rushed the outfit censorship was. You can see the seams where the cloth textures do not match and/or are just painted on the model's skin.

Y'know, with how the internet is nowadays, I legitimately do not know if Marcille and Falin are actually lesbians and together or if that's just fandom being fandom.

So I just saw a post by a random personal blog that said “don’t follow me if we never even had a conversation before” and?????? Not to be rude but literally what the fuck??????????
I’ve had people (non-pornbots) try to strike conversation out of nowhere in my DMs recently, and now I’m wondering if they were doing that because they wanted to follow me and thought they needed to interact first. I feel compelled to say, just in case, that it’s totally okay to follow this blog (or my side blog, for that matter) even if we’ve never talked before.
Also, I’m legit confused. Is this how follow culture works right now? It was worded like it’s common sense but is that really a thing?

the creators struggle of "yes I absolutely made this for myself and I should absolutely appreciate that I made this thing that turned out amazing and be proud of it on that merit alone" vs "man it'd be cool if everyone liked this thing I made as much as I do"

Love to Eat. Eat to Live.
This one is a really personal piece of art to reflect what I've been going through in my life.
BTS (serious) stuff:
This is regarding my struggle with food and eating disorders.
For most of my life I've had a complicated relationship with food. I liked food, but I was instilled guilt for eating and I had severe body image issues.
I developed some serious bad habits that eventually blossomed into an eating disorder. I had convinced myself for years that I wasn't actually suffering, despite my weight tanking and actually destroying my sense of hunger.
It got to a point where my weight was a serious concern. I was constantly told that if I didn't put on weight, I'd start suffering long term complications.
This only got worse when I developed serious depression. With no energy, I just ended up forgoing food for days at a time. I would attempt to put on weight, only to fall off and lose the weight again.
For the better part of 5 years, I've been trying to fix my issues with limited success. This year, I really tried.
This drawing is to celebrate the 10 pounds I've put on since the start of the year. I'm hoping to put on a total of 40 pounds this year to get myself to a better weight.
I'm eating every day. I'm pushing how many calories I put down every meal. I buy food dense in calories to try and compensate for how little I eat.
I'm trying very hard to love myself and to love eating. I want to love food again.

Drawing of Mina, my OC for Bad Blood.
Set in a dystopian city beset by monsters, Mina barely survived a brutal attack that left her at death's door. Tainted by strange powers over her body and blood, she takes up a vendetta against the creatures that butchered her.
But as Mina sets out for revenge, she must also face the horror, despair and pain of her past and present. As she battles the corruption taking her body, the trauma in her mind and the darkest urges of her soul, she struggles to remain herself.
Mina must fight to thrive, to grow, to truly live. All the while, the darkness threatens to consume what humanity she has left.

Thank you everyone for supporting me all this time.
I've been slowly working at improving my artwork through studies and tutorials and it's all been put into this piece. Sorry this took so long to do!
I hope to continue improving so I can finally create the stories I wish to tell.

"I owe how much this year?"
My reaction. Turns out, a lot.
[Commentary Below]
Trying to create some new brushes and overall improving. Overall style I tried out is something between Adventure Time and Vasquez's art.
I don't think I've drawn myself in a consistent style ever so far.

Why are people in the notes saying Ares is/was her husband? That's not the case, unless this is something I missed in Hades 1.
If it was about being a god of war, Athena would've had a similar band over her eyes. She was a god of war too.
If it's just Aphrodite and Ares, this might be a reference to the fact that she's cheating on her husband, Hephaestus, with Ares in the Odyssey.
