Yk, sometimes i wonder what good sisters are, especially if she's younger than you.
And then I get to find out that the only reason my little sister befriends anyone I date is so that when/if they break my heart, she won't be the first suspect of their murder. Even if she did commit said murder.
The backstabbing little shit.
I fucking love my sister.

You walk in, fiddling with the necklace if scales your mother gave you. You look around a bit before coming across a hoard. It's a hoard of many pretty things, silks and gold, fabrics and barrels, seashells and the sort. It's a very lovely hoard, surprisingly similar to the one you keep.
"Brother!" You call out, your voice echoing. You hear a growling sound the reverberates on the cavern walls.
"What is it you want Nathalia?" He speaks with a deep voice, much deeper than you remember it being.
"Kraal, brother, I have news." You respond softly, admiring the way his scales shine when he comes into view. You were older than him, having been there when he was hatched, so you can't help but be glad that he's keeping up with mother's recommended hygiene.
"And that news is?" He growls. "Out with it, sister." A huff of smoke is blown into your face. "Alriggt, calm down you little spitfire!" You retort. He blows a puff of smoke into your face again.
You take a deep breath to calm yourself before looking your brother in the eyes. "Unfortunately, m-mother has died." Your voice wobbles a bit as you hold back tears. Your eyes drift off to the side as your tears begin to push through and fall.
A large, scaled finger carefully brushes away the tears. "As much as we fought, sister, she was just as much your mother as she was mine." He speaks softly. He brings his head lower to the ground. "Was it old age?"
You wince and shake your head. "No. It was hunters who got her." You hear your brother gasp and roar out. "Hunters!? Fucking hunters!?" You nod once more.
It is silent for a moment. "Sister. We must avenge our mother." You look up at him, a quizzical look in your eyes. "Sister, she is our mother. Those monsters took her from us!" He cries out, his tail thrashing a bit. "We must find them. And we must kill them." You meet your brothers eyes with a hardened look in yours.
You nod, determination filling your bones.
As you swing onto your brother's back, you think about how you couldnt have had a better one whilst growing up. But right now? Right now, you have some fuckers to kill.
You were adopted and raised by a dragon. You and your step-brother never got along with him looking down at you for not being a dragon. You take a deep breath before entering his cave to inform him about the death of your mother.

I stop by to visit the lovely lady selling statues once again. She's always been so sweet and kind. People around town always seemed to talk bad about her, but they were clearly just rude. I carefully knock on the door and hear it open, feeling the lady that owns the place move beside me. She carefully grabs one of my arms and moves me inside, directing me kindly to make sure I don't run into anything.
"Welcome back, Alaina." I smile softly. She always said my name so sweetly. It was a wonder that I was her only friend. "It's good to be back, Ms. Em." I spoke softly, reaching my hands out to feel the different statues. "Do you still only have statues of men?" I question politely. I hear a noncommittal hum come from the kind lady.
"Yes, still men." She responds quietly. We don't need much volume to speak and it's always nice to be able to talk to another peson without them trying to yell at me because they assume ne being blind also affects my hearing. It does, of course, but not in the way they expect. I simply hear better. Nonetheless, it's nice to have quiet conversations with someone.
"Well, that's unfortunate, I was hoping for something new." I joke. I feel her pulling me to the side and stopping. She releases me and softly asks that I stay put. "I need to tell you something Alaina." I nod softly, gesturing for her to continue. "The reason you are my only friend is because of what I am." I tilt my head slightly. I've known this woman for years, what is she talking about? She grabs my hand and moves it up. I'm confused at first until I feel it.
I'm touching a bunch of snakes. I squeak softly in confusion only to feel the snakes wrap around me. "I am what's known as a gorgon, a humanoid creature with snakes for hair that can-" I cut her off softly as I finish her sentence. "Turn anyone that looks into your eyes to stone..." I feel her nod softly.
I think for a moment before chuckling softly. "That makes so much more sense! Of course I'm your only friend, I'm blind. I can't see you and the ones who can are usually rude and judge people by their appearance." I hear her breath catch as I begin moving my hand to play with the snakes softly, being very slow and careful to ensure I dont poke one in the eye.
She softly holds my other hand to slowly lead me to a different part of the shop and I find us both sitting down. It appears that she is sitting with her back to me as I can feel more snakes everywhere. I have no issue with this, of course, but i do continue to softly play with her snakes while humming softly.
I'm suddenly glad that only I get to experience this.
You’ve been fully blind since birth. You also just can’t make sense of why the charming Greek lady who runs the local statue garden doesn’t seem to have many friends besides you…

It was funny, really, that having the super power that you've dubbed 'Karmic Debt'could actually come in handy. It was simply supposed to be a simple power that was mostly based on your views. If someone did something good, you could let them build up that good karma and send it their way, helping them with literally anything. If someone did something bad, it would build up and be sent back to them. You could see the karma of anyone, whether you have known them for years or only just passed them in the grocery store.
It wasn't supposed to be anything important. No one was supposed to think it was powerful or any other bullshit like that. And, yet, here we are. Five years later and, suddenly, you are one of the most well known doctors in the world, having the ability to obliterate cancer from people or give a family enough money to pay for all the necessary treatments needed to cure a loved one.
Your friends used to brag for years that "they flew to work today and it was great" or "I just lifted a whole building off of someone today and was told I was a hero" or some other bullshit like that. And now you were the richest fucking one out of all of them, getting paid handsomely for every job you did due to your ability.
It was so fucking weird. And, now, you constantly get told that you have god-like powers and you simply shrug it off because you used to always be told that your power was useless or weak.
Guess the saying was right, huh?
'What goes around comes around.'
One day, magically, everyone across the world was given a superpower of their choice. Now, 5 years later, it seems your unconventional choice is paying off far more in life than your flying, super strong and mind reading friends.

The prayer and summoning had gone well, but you thought you'd made a mistake. Instead of a young vixen, you got an older woman. Her skin was a deep brown color, looking almost red, and it was severely wrinkled. She was beautiful, yes, but she wasn't what you expected.
"I thought that the goddess of love would look....different...younger." You speak softly before you process the words that you spoke. "Not- uh not that you aren't young, ma'am, you are gorgeous, uh-" you get cut off by a soft laugh emanating from the woman.
"Oh my, dear you must have been thinking of my daughter, who is the goddess of passion and romance." A soft glow seems to surround her, her eyes suddenly looking like a deep purple. "I am the goddess of LOVE."
You nervously look at the woman. "Oh, um, if you don't mind me asking, what is the difference?" The woman smiles softly, holding out her hand. You hesitantly take it, a look of confusion in your eyes.
"Let me show you, dear."
Suddenly the world around you fades, your senses fading with it.
And you're floating.
You feel warmth encase you, the smell of cookies and chocolate appearing. The smells of grass and outdoors overwhelming you. The sounds of nature and pools and laughter. And you feel safe.
Everything you love, the smells and colors and sounds of everyone you love overwhelm every single one of your senses. And you understand.
When you open your eyes, you are once again in your room. The woman is gone, but you can feel her smile. In her place are plenty of purple roses.
Years later, you can be found in a shabby little cottage, completely alone after your spouse died and you children left you. You aren't sure if you have grandchildren, but you are content nonetheless.
Your front yard is covered in purple roses and, occasionally, neighbors can see an old, darker woman visiting you and not leaving until hours, and sometimes even days, later.
“I thought the goddess of love would look…different.” The wrinkled old woman waved a dismissive hand, leaned closer, and smiled. “You are thinking of my daughter, the goddess of passion and romance. Dearie, I am the goddess of LOVE.”

"....but a place of trickery and blood." One of the scientologists on the job read aloud. "But this resembles a church, doesn't it?" Another questioned, observing some of the runes. The others began to walk around, attempting to translate the rest of the runes.
"Hey, I've got another translation!" One of the girls there yelled. "It says 'the fox will wander at the edges, but you should truly fear the crow.' What the hell does that mean?" She looked at the others, but all the did was shrug. They continued translating more runes, all agreeing that it was probably to best course of action.
There were soft sounds of chittering but the crew was far to focused on working through the translations to notice. "Hey, here's another!" She spoke excitedly. "The flesh of the person is almost as good as gold to the crow." She squinted at the words but shrugged. "Weird, but ok." They continued about their work.
No one noticed that they were missing a member.
It took a bit longer to get some of the other tunes translated, the runes seeming to get more rushed and frantically etched into the stone. "The next one reads 'do not get distracted by the fascinating things inside.' Cool, huh?"
No one heard the soft sound of surprise from another disappearing member.
The chittering became background noise, becoming so normal that no one actually noticed it didn't belong. More translations came through, being spoken with fascination by the next crew member. Things like 'for the longer you are distracted, the fox gets louder' and 'the louder the fox gets, the closer the crow is.'
No one noticed the both of the members that read those out had quickly disappeared.
"Hey, there's one last translation to get through!" The two girls left got to work fast, translating this one faster than the others had been.
And they found out what those runes were. (No one heard the screams.)
Those runes before were the warnings. (No one heard the cries for help.)
(No one heard the chittering.)
(No one heard the cawing.)
(No one heard human nails being dragged across stone.)
The last rune read 'Only a fool proceeds after reading the previous words and, you know what they say after all. Curiosity killed the cat.'
A few days later, two announcements were made, but only one was listened to.
"A crew disappeared on an expedition, the only thing found of them was the first of 7 translations which reads 'this is not a place of honour but a place of trickery and blood.' We still do not know what this-" (The fox and the crow have returned!)
You just finished translating an ancient message found near an unknown structure that roughly means “…this is not a place of honour…”
