Liquid After
In the ebb and flow of the silent tide,
A girl departed, love left untied.
Soothing sorrows in a bottle's embrace,
Seeking solace in a haze of grace.
She slipped away like the setting sun,
A chapter closed, a story undone.
In the arms of spirits, seeking reprieve,
A balm for the ache, a chance to believe.
A dance with whiskey, a waltz with green,
A symphony of numbness in between.
Marijuana whispers, a calming embrace,
Ephemeral solace in that sacred space.
The room filled with echoes of her laughter,
Now drowned in the hum of liquid after.
Yet in the haze, her memory weaves,
A tapestry of longing, a love that grieves.
Will she return like the morning dew,
Or linger as a shadow, a silhouette true?
In the haze of intoxication's sweet descent,
A fleeting hope, a moment spent.
The bottle clinks, the smoke swirls high,
An offering to the moonlit sky.
In the arms of vices, a refuge sought,
For a love, untethered, yet never forgot.

In the shadows of the night, where memories gently sway,
A tale of love unfolds, where hearts found their way.
A girl, a whisper in the winds of time,
Her absence leaves echoes, a nostalgic rhyme.
Daily, thoughts of her dance in my mind,
In the starlit canvas, a love undefined.
Stars above, witnesses to our secret affair,
Our initials etched somewhere, a love we dared to share.
Through the town we'd wander, sneaking hand in hand,
A clandestine dance, like footprints in the sand.
Every street corner echoes a story untold,
Of love that blossomed in the secrets we'd hold.
Her window, a portal to a world unseen,
Where nightly visits were moments serene.
Yet now, in the silence of a yearning heart,
I navigate the town, where memories impart.
Stars, once companions in our nocturnal spree,
Now bear witness to a love that used to be.
A year unfolds, a chapter yet to start,
Hoping for the day when she returns to my heart.
Until then, in the tapestry of the night,
I'll find solace in the stars' soft light.

“What do you say when you’re not enough to make someone stay? What do you do when you meet the love of your life and realize it’s all about timing? How do you accept that no matter how perfect you are for each other, circumstances get in the way? How do you compete with that kind of fate?”

When BoJack Horseman (2014-2020) said "you can't keep doing shitty things and then feel bad about yourself like that makes it ok. you need to be better" and "all we have are the connections we make" and "I really should've thought about the view from halfway down" and "sometimes you have to take responsibility for your own happiness" and "you do the hokey pokey and you turn yourself around, you turn yourself around, THAT'S what it's all about" and "things have to get worse before they can get better" and "in real life, the big gesture isn't enough, you need to be consistent" and "if we hadn't met each other until now, we wouldn't be the people we are now" and, my personal favourite, "every day it gets a little easier, but you gotta do it every day, that's the hard part, but it does get easier".

“I missed you in a small way, tiny enough to fold up and put in my pocket, and carry that loneliness with me everywhere I went. I’d forget all about you, until my hand accidentally brushed against that slip of memory.”

A year is a long time to wait for someone, especially when you never know if either of us will survive that long. It's like the concept of telling the people you love, that you love them every day. You never know if you'll see them again. How do I know I'll see you again..?

It's 1AM and I'm walking the dark as you watch the stars next to me. It's a short or long drive, and my imagination wanders. You're sitting so beautiful in the seat next to me, either examining outside or me alone. I turn the music up to drown my thoughts, and I can hear your laugh faintly. Laying in my bed, singing along to the music while the lights surround me, I can feel your head on my chest. On my decent days I sit at my window and tell you all about the good things that have happened, making you paper stars and you do your little "dancey dance". I round the corner at the park on the days I can bring myself down there and see you running to jump into me. Sense of relief? I open my arms, but you just vanish the second you touch me. It's just my imagination again. I don't know if it's a blessing or a curse, but I wish I could just hear you tell me it's okay and feel your hug one last time. I think the memory of you is the only thing keeping me going at this point, but how are you?
