Old Sunniva design Vs. New Sunniva design

Y'all remember her, right? She's got a new and improved design!

And here it is!

I felt like she didn't look "Zonai enough" as she was mainly hylian-looking with literally just a potential third eye and her ears being different. I wanted to have more Zonai-esque traits, and so Sunniva's design was updated not too long ago!

I'm very happy with how she looks now! Y'all can expect to see more of her in the future! :D

Day 1 : Self-portrait

Hey everyone, long time no original post or art!

A friend of mine introduced me to the 30-Day Improvement Hell Challenge and I decided to take it on! The first prompt was to create a self-portrait. I absolutely hate drawing, painting or taking pictures of myself, because I'm not super happy with my looks at the moment. But I managed to find things I like about my face at the very least!

Some studies I did for my artclass this morning! Had a ton of fun making these, the model was very nice :) For the last one, our teacher wanted us to imagine a humanoïd alien-type creature, and I'm planning on completing this piece! Maybe not right now as I've got so much schoolwork to do, but sometime in the near future :D

Some sketches of my ToTK OC, Sunniva!

I really loved drawing her through this face practice. I suck when it comes to drawing the same face over and over again, so I thought to myself that I'd practice doing just that with my favourite girl. I'm planning on colouring these, but I wanted to show y'all some of the details that weren't on her first official drawing (aka her third eye!! Yes, she got that from her papa Rauru) !

For those of you who are just discovering this character, she's an OC I created for a fanfiction I'm currently working on. She is Sunniva, Sonia and Rauru's daughter, who was raised by another OC of mine (whose design hasn't been shown yet). She later renames herself "Zelda 'Sunniva' The First of Hyrule", after the princess-turned-dragon who helped her parents delay the calamity that was the Demon King Ganondorf, until the day when he could finally be defeated.

I hope y'all enjoy this babygirl as much as I love her, because there's gonna be plenty more of her coming up! She's my go-to character whenever I get artblock so bad that I can't think of anything to draw, or when I feel like my drawings are so bad I can't draw anything else. She's very special to me, because it's thanks to her and the inspiration that TotK brought to me that I was able to get out of the artblock I had suffered with for weeks/months on end.

Zelda "Sunniva" The First of Hyrule

I had a thought while I was playing Tears of the Kingdom the other day. What would Sonia and Rauru's kid actually look like if we had gotten to see them? I had an idea, so I went ahead and drew her! Granted, I leaned *HEAVILY* into Sonia's hylian looks to create this cutie, but I did try to incorporate some of Rauru's features into her design.

So, let me introduce you guys to Zelda "Sunniva" The First of Hyrule!

She's an OC I created to go along with another character who is still in the works (her design isn't quite finished yet, but I should be able to post it soon!). Sunni' will be part of a story/fanfiction I'm writing based on Tears of the Kingdom!

This character's original name was Sunniva, which means "gift from the sun" from what I've gathered. I thought it was an adorable name, as well as a name that matched well with the fact that Sonia's favourite flowers are said to be Sundelions (Sunniva, Sundelion... you get it) ! Sunni' eventually takes up the name "Zelda" after the princess that came from the distant future and helped her parents during the Imprisoning War. She believes it would be a way to keep her close to her heart, in a way, and by naming herself after Zelda, she became the first of a very long, unbroken line of princesses who share the same name.

I hope you guys like her as much as I do! Sunni' is a very important character in the story I'm writing, and it was important that she looks like a spitting image of Sonia, while being unique enough that she isn't quite the same. I love her to bits already and I have only drawn her this once, lol!

The Journey Begins!

Hello everyone, and welcome to my blog!

Essentially, this will be an archive of sorts. I plan on sharing WIPs, sketches, studies, process videos, finished pieces and more here!

As I've explained in my "About The Journey" page, my goal is to "unlearn" the things I already know about making art, so that I can relearn to make art the way I want to. I've pretty much come to terms with the fact that the way I've developped my drawing skills wasn't the best, and so, I want to attempt a complete overhaul of my art. This is why I've created this blog : to document the process and progress I'll be making.

My hope is that sharing all of these things with you guys will help keep me motivated and boost my morale, as I've been struggling as of late to keep things going. I also hope that you guys will help me improve by leaving comments, advice and critiques under my posts, or by DMing me! Every (respectful) comment is greatly appreciated.

I know that the blog is quite empty as of now, since it has only just been created. But do keep an eye out, as I'll be beginning my journey and getting to posting very soon!
