Karzis Rahajara, king of Mahar and uncle of Sabreas and Darya (to whom he is also married). The younger of two sons, Karzis very much grew up in the shadow of his older brother Verashta. Where Verashta was exuberant and friendly, Karzis was always reserved, serious, even a little dour. While his somewhat abrasive personality never gained him many friends at court, he proved himself with a succesful career in the Mahari army and as a councelor to the king. He may not have ever been as charismatic as his brother, but unlike Verashta, Karzis is a strong, competent leader, devoted to his kingdom above all else. Or, at least that’s how his reign began. As the years pass, tormented by ghosts of the past, Karzis's mental state starts to detoriorate, becoming increasingly paranoid, unpredictable and cruel. Main
