during my 2 hour long nap, i dreamt that there was a Vanessa protag game in the FNAF franchise— not like HW, but more like Security Breach. we follow and play as Vanessa, she had the technician tool but it doubled as a taser. Vanessa also becomes armed with a crowbar halfway through the game— She was trying to find Cassie and in the process, finds the remnants of all the deactivated/freed animatronics and has to tackle Freddy’s beheaded body to the ground so she could remotely shut it down (she can hear Gregory through an earpiece because she refused to let him come). man,,, what I wouldn’t do to see Vanessa as a fully fleshed out, talking and reacting player character with actual relationships and personality,,,

Finn, I have thought so ridiculously long and hard about the fact that Vanessa just carries that photo of her and her dad around. Like what a metaphor, it’s literal baggage she’s hauling around. Her younger self (her innocence) died the day she witnessed her father kill those kids in that back room and the memory of her still haunts Vanessa. She won’t leave Vanessa alone. Vanessa looking back on this photo and remembering how happy she used to be, how happy they used to be.

This ask reminded me about how this scene ended in the movie novel (once again, the movie novel really nails the Vanessa scenes, tho the novel does have some really odd descriptive elements which i swear to god must just be red herrings for theorists)
