got an accidental amazing last minute hotel deal which means i'm spending less for three nights in a luxury penthouse apartment (with my own kitchen, bath and king size bed) than you would normally spend on one night in the same place. the massive balcony looks out over a golf course and there's a swimming pool in the hotel i can use for free as well as a restaurant where a meal costs half my rent and it is so incredibly clear i do not belong here ahahaha
(but it's sweeeet to be able to sit here drinking my coffee looking out over the city, trying to finish up a story about grief and cannibalism for some indie literary magazine while in my frayed second-hand clothes and on a broken laptop that keeps glitching)

"The power of poetry has not failed me like it has failed some poets in recent decades who hoist philosophy to buttress the poem. It is misogynistic to say poetry is too feminine, too weak, needs a man’s ideas to move forward. Love philosophy, go ahead, I am not the least bit anti-intellectual I simply do not need philosophy to make poetry appear more masculine. Sigmund Freud said, “Everywhere I go I find a poet has been there before me.” Not philosopher, but poet."

be careful what you wish for i have a new crush (platonic ofc, still aroace !!!) and she's not fictional and if that isn't exciting ahahaha oops what did i get myself into
(she is very, very funny, she reads A LOT (and has good taste), works in a library, overanalyses everything but is smart about (and can spin a good dramatic tale) and oh she is kind of pretty????
it has been more than a year since i had a crush and i really want one again it can even be fictional you know give me some character to OBSESS over or hyperfixate on in a new (book) series idc i miss the hyperfixation and it has been too boring and quiet in my braiin

One of the recurring philosophical questions is:
"Does a falling tree in the forest make a sound when there is no one to hear?"
Which says something about the nature of philosophers, because there is always someone in a forest. It may only be a badger, wondering what that cracking noise was, or a squirrel a bit puzzled by all the scenery going upwards, but someone. At the very least, if it was deep enough in the forest, millions of small gods would have heard it.
Things just happen, one after another. They don't care who knows. But history...ah, history is different. History has to be observed. Otherwise it's not history. It's just...well, things happening one after another.
Terry Pratchett, Small Gods

soooo i will take this as life advice brb
If you ever second-guess yourself about including some unrealistic frivolous whimsical bullshit in your stories, just remember that nobody notices the absence of unrealistic frivolous whimsical bullshit, save for like 5 people who are determined to deprive both themselves and also everyone they encounter of any enjoyment in life. The people who read stuff that should have talking dragons and planets with two moons in it and think "it sure is nice that this thing has no stupid unrealistic bullshit in it, like talking dragons or planets with two moons" are not the people you should seek to appease.
