Was not expecting lore drop before I even had my coffee this morning, so was pleasantly surprised to see a new Reflections story awaited me. Ripples was wonderful, as I’ve come to expect of that series (more please!!!) and it’s been great reading all the new speculation due to some of the info drops.
One thing I immediately noticed was the passage about the star falling to earth and causing a wound. I have seen people take this as confirmation it has to do with Aaravos and the Sea of the Castout.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
So perhaps I’m geologising a little too close to the sun, but looking at the map of Xadia, the Sea of the Castout does not look to me like an impact crater. It’s a flat area, with pretty ill defined edges.
If the cater caused by Aaravos falling to earth behaves like a typical crater (and considering this is a magical land with dragons and elves, it absolutely may not), you’d expect a central impact zone, with roughly equal energy radiating from it, creating a roughly circular impact crater (when viewed from above). The Sea of the Castout very much does not look like this… but not to far from that is The Spinning Sea
Tumblr media Tumblr media
The Spinning Sea seems to have a central zone, with a ring of mountains surrounding it. This looks far more like a typical impact crater, though obviously the scale is much more vast (again, magic?) There’s also reference to the land bleeding, a metaphor for volcanism, perhaps?
And maybe the rift we see at the Border was chosen to take advantage of this pre-existing wound in the earth?
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Perhaps even more interesting is how the ripples in the image above also remember an impact crater. Ripples that appears to be distorting an image of the moon.
Tumblr media
If we take Zubeia’s story as truth (or near enough) Luna Tenebris disappeared suddenly, resulting in the succession crisis. Obviously this happened long after Aaravos’ arrival in Xadia, so perhaps it’s just concidence that the Gulf of Tenebris located by the Spinning Sea, but then again, perhaps not.
Tumblr media
Which is to say, I still think the Sea of the Castout is likely to be where Aaravos is imprisoned and the Spinning Sea is where he “landed” in Xadia.

“Avizandum could have at LEAST provided a coffee machine.”
Yes, this is ooc. Yes, I think it’s funny. Yes, we need more goofy Aaravos content. Ain’t no way that man has not slipped in his almighty ethereal persona yet. Give me content of Aaravos posing in the mirror and checking himself out. Give me content of Aaravos getting tongue tied when pronouncing spells. Give me content of Aaravos trying out new hobbies to pass the time in his lil wacky prison. Yeah he’s a villain but lets make him goofy anyway.

This week's warm-ups goes to the modern AU boys (aa the arts in this initial post are so out dated now i can see all of my mistakes)... I love them and I miss them everyday (;´༎ຶД༎ຶ`)
Neither of them turned into bad guys in the making of this AU I just thought the lyrics was cool (σ`д′)σ Maybe one day I'll be able to tell some of their stories(if my thesis hasn't already killed me)
The designs for them are from my modern AU called New York Mages and if anyone is confussled I left a link up there justtttt in case but dear god .. I needa redraw the concepts one day fdyugihoszjpo Sorry for being a disgrace and have a nice day🙏🙏🙏

Hi, so this is my first post! Silly to inform that, I know, but it felt important.
I just have to comment on that m o o d that I had the other day. So, I live in a medium sized town, not too big, not too small, one of the only big university cities upstate in the country, and so I just...dressed up in a punk outfit, bright red jeans, ripped jacket full of bottoms, patches, you name it, chains, bracelets, rings and everything (Note: This was the first time I do this in broad daylight). Then I just went on a rendezvous, stopping by used book shops, cafés, the library, just vibing, being interesting, all by myself.
A random guy just said "Love your style" as he passed me by and oh boy, core memory acquired. It's always nice to be recognizable.
Are you feeling down? Be the interesting stranger on the street with a mildly mysterious air you are meant to be! It is an amazing confidence boost. Be the person you look at while waiting for the stoplight to turn green and go 'Wow, they're cool.'

I love this generation
one fun thing about being a teacher in march 2023 is that chess is a literal epidemic among teens. we are starting to have meetings about how we can STOP teenagers from playing too much chess which is like if we were trying to figure out how to stop them from reading for fun. When i was in high school five years ago chess was nerd shit only but now it is transcending every social and language barrier and is absolutely rampant. kids aren’t on their phone texting in class anymore it’s ONLY chess.com. kids are playing chess on their phones while playing chess in real life. this is still better than tiktok because at least the kids are developing an attention span from this

Wonder what would’ve happened if Aaravos could see through from the other side from the start. Especially with Claudia always studying the mirror. Viren as well.

im so done with seeing articles about kids and screen time that doesnt mention parent behaviors even once. “kids are always on their phones” so are the parents! which the kids look to for how they should behave! ipad babies didn’t chose to only play on their ipads, thats what their parents gave them!
an anecdotal example: when i was a kid, all my parents would do in their minimal free time was watch tv and then they would be surprised when in my sister and i’s minimal free time we would also only watch tv/play video games. they scolded us for not reading books, but they never read books. they scolded us for not going outside but they never went outside.
“kids are always on their damn phones” my mom is in her 60s and opens up candy crush anytime she’s sitting — it isnt just the kids

No because do y’all ever notice how some version of this exists with every era. Like there was a ‘not like other girls’ period where young girls hated dresses and skirts because they were also similarly ‘instruments of the patriarchy’? Like what?
I feel that so many generations have taught society, including girls to not like ‘being a girl’. Like this has been a thing for a while and there are loads of more qualified people you guys could look at that talks about this but goddamn, just wanted to point out how fucked it is that it’s seeping into literature. Lmao you don’t have to be a tomboy or someone that hates girly things to be a cool and heroic person/character.
You know my favorite bits in period dramas are the ones where the heroine is “not like other girls” and chooses not to wear a corset because let’s be real, no inteligent woman in a period drama setting would do that.
And then you can tell it was written by someone without a chest because next thing you know, they’ll be running off across a field or something.
Like girl, you just took off the only breast support you had, and now you’re sprinting across a field?? How is this not an issue??
And then they’re like “I’m a woman of science” but clearly no, because any woman who knows anything about weight distribution wouldn’t choose to fling off their corset whilst still wearing a poofy skirt. Like it’s there for a reason. It distributes the weight and keeps your 50 lbs of skirts from digging into your bare skin. And I cannot stress this strongly enough, IT SUPPORTS THE BUST. WHAT ARE YOU DOING. I’ll make an exception if they’re dressing as a man or have anything gender going on, but otherwise, WHAT ARE YOU DOING??
And then they say it’s because they’re painful or that they’re “instruments of the patriarchy”, except no they fucking weren’t, men wore corsets too, they were literally just bust support and historical corsets didn’t hurt, because they were made to fit your body, and they actually molded to fit it more the more you wore them. I know, I have multiple.
And if you think one couldn’t breathe, yes you could, people wore corset like garments for like 500 years, you think they would wear them if they couldn’t breathe? And no they didn’t lace them tightly except for special occasions and that was only a few people. In fact for most of history, it was physically impossible to lace boned garments any tighter then they were supposed to go because metal eyelets weren’t invented yet. You achieved the small waist look by padding out your hips and maybe your chest and sleeves creating an optical illusion

God it would be hilarious if they experimented on this and give Stella some stupid shit like jellytarts, glitter, a bunch of old blankets, cakes, used tea bags.
it would be worse if they used it as a trash disposal LMAO Aaravos would not be pleased.
