~ Friday Night ~

Christine woke up with a headache, she fainted last night because of the amount of blood that Azusa drank from her. She woke up in her room and checked herself in the mirror. There were no other bite marks on her, just the one on her neck and wrist. Good, she thought, he didn't take advantage of her while she fainted. Tonight is her first shift at the Sakamki’s mansion. Christine already has a bad feeling about this. She is not happy here in Japan and regrets accepting Karlheinz's work offer. Staring at herself in the mirror, she can see the pain and loneliness that she is feeling. Christine closes her eyes and she remembers an inspirational poem by Kathy Russell that helped her move on after her breakup with Mark. She had read it so many times that she knew the poem by heart.

Christine: “I will walk slowly through this day.

I leave what is not needed behind from yesterday.

I will treasure all the knowledge to move forward.

What I do today will not change or erase the past.

I move on knowing that today I will do differently than before.

If I fail, there will be another tomorrow and a future tomorrow for hope.”

She opens her eyes.

“A future tomorrow for hope…” she said softly to herself.

She goes to the bathroom to take a bath and to get ready for tonight.

Butterflies and birds flying

The scent of rose petals in the air

The sound of the waterfall

As he's walking towards the river

He sees Christine sitting on a rock

Looking at the red rose she has in her hand.

- Azusa is confused -

Azusa: (Am I dreaming? Or did I came here to the river with Rose-san? She’s wearing her white princess dress with the blue ribbon around her waist…)

“Rose-san…”

She looks at him.

Princess: “Rose-san?”

She stands up with a smile and walks closer to him.

“Perhaps you want this rose? Is that what you want, Azusa?”

Azusa: … …

“No… I'm calling you Rose… because you said… you liked the name… I chose for you…”

Princess: “I like it better when you call me, “Princess.”

Azusa: “Eh…?”

(Am I really dreaming again!? Did the real Rose-san left me!? And went back to her forest, back to the dream world…)

He starts to panic and grabs her shoulders.

Azusa: “Rose…! Please… let’s go back to the mansion together…! I don't want to be left behind again…!”

- He grips her shoulders really tight and shakes her -

She frowns and pushed him with ease. Azusa falls backward to the ground.

Princess: “You need to learn how to control yourself, or else I will kill you!”

She puts one foot on his chest, adding a strong pressure.

Azusa: “Fufu… this pain… Hehehe… it feels good… please step on me… harder…”

The princess smirks and adds more pressure to his chest. Hearing his moan got her excited.

Princess: “You are lucky I like you, Azusa. I would have killed you a long time ago.”

She sat on top of him and leaned down staring at his lavender eyes.

“Do you like me that much, that you go this crazy for me?”

She runs her fingers through his hair.

Azusa: “I do… I want you by my side… Rose…”

Princess: “Rose… you keep calling me that.”

She stares at the red rose that she is still holding.

“Azusa… You need to calm down and prepare for what is about to come…”

Azusa: “Eh…? What do you mean…? Do you know about… Karlheinz plan…?

She nods.

Princess: “The time has not come yet…”

Tears run down the princess cheeks.

“Lots of blood will be spilled from the special Rose…”

Azusa: “No…”

He panics again.

- He sits up and cups her cheeks -

“Princess… My Rose… if you know anything about his plan… please… tell me in detail… My brothers and I can help you…”

The princess stares at him with a deep gaze.

Princess: “All five of you are part of his plan…”

Suddenly her tears turned into blood.

Azusa flinch at the sight of blood coming out of her eyes.

- He wakes up -

Azusa: “Rose…!”

His heart was racing and his body was full of sweat. Azusa gets out of his bed and runs out of his room to look for Christine. He needs to see her, to make sure she didn't left him and that she's okay. The princess' words came to his mind while he was searching desperately for Christine.

(All five of you are part of his plan…)

He went outside and saw Yuma in his vegetable garden.

Azusa: “Yuma…! Where is Rose...? Have you seen her...?”

Yuma: “Aahn? Who the fuck is Rose?

Azusa: “Christine-san…”

Yuma: “Oh you mean Blondie. . She went with Ruki to those bastard's mansion. Che, You knew about this Azusa.

Azusa: “… Justin… you heard that…? She didn't leave me…” He suddenly feels more relaxed.

Yuma: “Aahn!? The fuck are ya talkin’ about? You also look like shit! What is wrong with ya?”

Azusa: … …

Yuma: “You have been actin’ weird around Blondie. I get it that for a human, she is good-lookin’ but I don't see a reason for ya to be obsessed with her.”

Azusa: … …

(She's the princess of my dreams, my precious Rose… He doesn't need to know the reasons…)

Without saying anything, he turns around and goes back to the manor.

- Sakamaki’s Mansion -

Christine and Ruki were standing in the living room. Five of the Sakamaki brothers were there.

Christine: (They all look so evil! They give me even more darker vibes than the Mukami brothers. I do believe Ruki when he told me, “They will rip you apart.” All five of them are looking at me with hunter eyes, it feels like I'm the little mouse and they are all the snake that wants to eat me. Especially the guy with the fedora hat. She starts to feel chills down her spine…)

Christine moves closer to Ruki.

Reiji: “So you are the woman our father told Shu about. We have been expecting you.”

Christine: “Yes, my name is Christine.”

Laito: “Nfu~ well, well. So we are gonna have another cute woman in our mansion. Nfu~ she smells lovely, I can't wait to have fun with our new, Bitch-chan.”

Christine: “Bitch-chan!?”

Ruki: “Livestock will be staying with my brothers and me in our manor. She won't need a room here. Every Friday on her work shift one of my brothers or myself will accompany her here.”

Subaru: “Che, you idiots always stickin’ your noses where it doesn't belong.”

Laito: “Geez, not fair! Father clearly sent her here for you guys to share her with us. Nfu~ I don't mind her staying in my room once a week.” He said with a smirk.

Christine: (Eww! Such a creep!…)

Kanato: “She would look lovely as one of my dolls, right Teddy? The only problem is that her scent is too flowery. IT IS ITCHING MY NOSE!”

Shu: “Damn, you are all annoying, Can we hurry this up so I can go back to sleep.”

- Ayato and Yui walk into the living room -

Ayato: “Why the fuck do we have a Mukami bastard here? And who the fuck is she!?”

Yui: “Oh Hello, Ruki-kun.”

Christine: (The human girl Ruki told me about. She is so pretty and looks very delicate…)

Ruki: “Hello Eve, it is nice to see you again. Let me introduce you to Livestock, She will be working here every Friday for the summer. You should be happy to have a female companion.”

Christine: “The name is Christine Melendez. Is nice to meet you.”

Yui: “Nice to meet you too. You have a pretty name. My name is Yui Komori. So what type of job will you be doing here in the mansion?”

Christine: (She seems so sweet and polite…)

Christine was about to answer her question but one of the Sakamaki’s interrupted her.

Reiji: “She will help me with the chores of the mansion, I have her work schedule. I'm glad Father sent in someone to help since you idiots don't do anything but cause trouble.”

Laito: “Nfu~ so she will be our personal maid. Fufu~ This turned out to be even better. I love having a good time with maids. Nfu~ It brings back good memories.”

Christine: “I will not be anyone's personal maid.”

Subaru: “Che, when you're in this mansion you will do whatever we say!”

Christine: “I will not!”

Subaru: “Shut up!”

He punches the wall.

Reiji: “Subaru! Stop punching the wall!”

Ayato: “You sure have some guts for being a Chihuahua.”

Christine: “Huh!?”

Reiji: “Good grief, that is enough. Let me do the introductions before we start with your first task. The one over there is the eldest son Shu. My name is Reiji and I'm the second son, then comes the triplets, Ayato, Kanato, and Laito. Lastly, the youngest is Subaru. You already have met Yui. So now, you woman, come with me. We are wasting time already.”

Shu: “Before you leave, the old man specified, like with Yui. That we are not allowed to kill her.”

Christine: !!!!!

Laito: “Geez, what's his deal lately wanting us to keep these recent Bitch-chans alive?”

Shu: “He was really firm about keeping her alive. He said he would kill us if anything happened to this Woman.”

Reiji: “I see. I guess you are special to Father. Very well, follow me, Christine.”

Christine: !!!…

“Okay...”

She looks at Ruki.

“Ruki, are you coming with us?”

Ruki: “Go ahead with Reiji, I need to talk to Shu first, I'll join you later Livestock.”

Christine: (Huh!!! He's leaving me alone with this man…)

She follows Reiji, feeling scared.

Ayato: “Come, Chichinashi. Let's go eat takoyaki.”

Subaru: “Che, I'm out of here too.”

He walks away.

Kanato: “Achoo!! HER DAMN FLOWERY SCENT IS TO STRONG! Achoo! It's making me sneeze! Come let's go, Teddy. Achoo!”

Laito: “Fufu~ so our little family meeting is over. What a shame. Her scent doesn't bother me. Nfu~ I guess I'll see our new Bitch-chan later then.”

- Both Kanato and Laito leave the living room -

Shu: “Such a hassle.”

He sits up.

“What the hell do you want to talk about?”

Ruki: “Do you know what plans your Father has with that woman?”

Shu: “Beats me, and I don't care what his plan is.”

Ruki: “Hmph, her blood scent is similar to Eve's. But I thought there is supposed to be only one Eve.”

Shu: “I do find it odd, that this time he sent someone older and not a virgin.”

Ruki: “So I guess this means it doesn't have to do with another bride.”

Shu: “Whatever. I don't care, Now go away, I'm feeling sleepy.”

Zzz… Zzz

Ruki: “You are lazy as always, Shu.”

(If not another bride then what does he want with Livestock? I will continue to search for this answer…)

*TimeSkip*

- The scene starts in the Laundry Room -

Reiji: “Your first task will be folding these clean clothes. Both of us will have a pile.”

Christine: “You will be folding clothes too?”

Reiji: “That's what I just said, good grief. You women nowadays are all airheads. Do you have a problem with me folding the laundry?”

Christine: “I don't. Apologies.”

Reiji: “Hmph.”

He stares at her.

“Shu told me you are from the United States. Which State do you come from?”

Christine: “New York.”

Reiji: “I see.”

Christine: (His deep gaze is making me nervous…)

Reiji: “At least you look proper and you're dress nicely. I hope your working skills are as good as the way you look. Now get to work.”

Christine: (Did he just compliment me? I can feel my cheeks flushed. Reiji is so intimidating, he's making me feel so nervous. I feel like I'm gonna fucked this up…)

-She starts folding the clothes and minutes pass by -

Reiji: “I simply cannot believe this! You don't know how to do a simple task like folding the laundry.”

Christine: “Huh? How did I fold this wrong?”

Reiji: “You dare ask a stupid question? Good grief! What was my father thinking in bringing in a maid who doesn't even know how to fold the laundry correctly?”

Christine: (She’s done with his rudeness! Her anger got the best of her)

“Then you fold the damn laundry yourself!”

She walks away.

- Reiji suddenly pushes her against the wall with his hand on her neck, choking her -

Reiji: “Know your place human! Do not dare defy me unless you wish for me to punish you the most painfully way. Am I clear?”

She gasped.

Reiji: “Heh… Haha! Look at you squirming for your life from just a slight pressure applied to your neck. I could easily kill you if I wished to do so.”

Christine: … …

(He has a sadistic look in his eyes. It was a struggle to speak since she could barely breathe…)

Ruki: “Reiji, let her go. You know you are not allowed to kill her.”

- Reiji removes his hand from her neck -

She coughs.

Reiji: “Hmm. Watch your mouth next time. Now get out of here, you are useless.”

Christine: (His words hurt! Mark used to call her that all the time…) Her heart begins to ache…)

She walks away, holding back the tears.

- Ruki grabs her arm and stops her in the hallway -

Ruki: “Livestock! Are you dumb? I warned you about the Sakamaki's and yet, you didn't listen and almost got yourself killed on your first night with them!”

Christine: (Oh no! I can't hold the tears any longer…)

“I’m sorry…”

Ruki: “Good grief woman! Get a hold of yourself. Showing weakness is not gonna do you any better. Now pull yourself together, you have another work task to do and you don't want the rest of the brothers to see your weakness. I am clear?”

She wipes her tears.

Christine: “You’re right, I'm sorry. I'll do better… but before I start the new task can I use the bathroom first?”

Ruki: “I don't know where the bathrooms are here. So let's go find Yui and ask her.”

*TimeSkip*

Christine took a few deep breaths, looking at herself in the mirror, she saw she had bruises on her neck from Reiji. Her eyes looked puffy and red because she cried a bit more when she got into the bathroom.

Christine: (I'm always getting hurt. I don't think I will be able to handle this any longer… Tomorrow is my day off, I plan to get out of the house and hopefully, I can get a signal on my phone to contact Father. I just need to get over this night…)

She took one last deep breath to calm herself and got out of the bathroom.

Yui: “Christine-san.”

Christine: “Ah! You scared me.”

Yui: “I'm sorry. I didn't mean to.”

Christine: “No need to apologize. I'm fine.”

Yui: “C-Christine! Who did that to your neck?”

Christine: … …

“It was Reiji… but let's not talk about it, I will be okay.”

(She's looking at me with so much concern…)

Yui: I‘m sorry that he did that to you… The reason I am here is because Ruki sent me to get you for your next work task. You and I will be picking different flowers together in the garden. Reiji needs a good amount to put on different vases for the mansion.”

Christine: “No need to be sorry, this was not your fault… Anyway, I'm glad we are gonna do this task together. I love flowers, especially roses.” She said with a smile.

Yui: “Me too!” She said smiling back at Christine.

- Yui takes Christine's hand very gently -

Yui: “I’m happy you're here, Christine-san. It's nice to have another female in the mansion even if it's just once a week.”

She let go of her hand.

Christine: “Thank you for your kindness, Yui. I hope we can get to know each other and become friends throughout this summer.”

Yui: “I would like that too, now come follow me.”

Christine feels calmer with Yui and follows her as she leads the way towards the Garden.

Happy Birthday, Ruki!

It was so nice to come back home after relaxing in the onsen Ruki and Yuriko had spent their anniversary. Once they had packed everything, they drove back with the limousine, Yuriko napping against Ruki. A while later, the car stopped to the front yard of their house, and Ruki collected still yawning Yuriko in his arms, helping her out. The familiar scent of flowers and the nearby forest greeted them, bringing the instant feeling of safe coming back.

Beaming, Yuriko gazed at the view. The grey stone building stood tall between trees with fresh green leaves, except for the Japanese maple whose red blossoms made the tree look fiery. It was a bright spot in front of the house. Their home. It still was hard to believe how far they had come from their first days. Yuriko held Ruki’s hand, rose on her toes, and pecked his cheek.

“I’m so lucky to be with you here today.” A smile broke out of Yuriko when Ruki turned his head and smirked. “Happy birthday, Ruki. Let’s have a cozy day at home.”

But Ruki’s gaze wandered somewhere. Yuriko tilted her head and tried to see what he was watching. The wind turned, and new but familiar scents wafted in their direction at the same moment, Yuriko spotted three figures. “Oh… there are people on the porch…”

Yuriko's heart took a leap.

They really came!

She would have wanted to jump a little from the joy but these days she felt way too heavy to do such a thing. Instead, she pulled Ruki’s hand gently. “Come…”

Pulling his hand, Yuriko brought Ruki closer to the porch. This was perfect. The day before they had had their quality time alone at the onsen but today... Today, Ruki deserved fun family time. Yuriko had asked his brothers to come, and now, she was almost bursting since they had made it.

Of course, they had, Yuriko reminded herself. They wouldn't have missed today.

Yuma was the first to stand up. He looked even taller than usual, gazing down from the porch. “Damn, ya surely took yer time to get here. I thought ya’d come directly in the morning.”

“Ruki-kun, since when you have become such a slowpoke~?” Kou teased as well, stretching his arms and yawning. “What took you so long~? Just how did you spend your morning~?”

Yuriko's face flared but Ruki ignored the question. Lucky for them, Kou didn't have time to throw out more awkward questions, for Azusa pushed his body up and roamed down the two steps from the porch to the path.

Azusa's lips curled up as he patted Ruki's shoulder. “Ruki… I hope you had…” His beaming made Yuriko feel warm. “...a nice day at… the onsen… with Yuriko-chan.”

“Come on, let us in!" Kou was getting impatient. Yuriko could almost smell it. "We’ve been here since forever!”

Yuriko couldn’t help but giggle at the demands. But her steps were surprisingly light when she roamed in with everyone and let the brothers have their family moment. Before she knew it, Kou and Yuma had pulled out glasses and poured sparkling liquid into them.

“Don’t worry, Yuriko-chan~ There’s no alcohol in yours~” Kou handed glasses to everyone. When they were ready, he raised his. “To your last moments of peace and quiet!” He grinned at Ruki. “Happy birthday, Ruki-kun!”

“Happy birthday!” Everyone joined the wishes.
