“Hold the door!” Jogging towards the elevator in the middle of the University Center, Gunner slid in quickly before it could properly close on him, “Sorry, late for -,” he started, eyes bugging when he realized who managed to press the door open button for him, automatic smile quirking in the corner of his mouth, “Saige, hey - hi,” Clearing his throat, Gunner reached forward and pressed the button for the 4th floor, waiting until the elevator started moving before turning back to Saige, “Hi. You look nice. Whatcha been -,” Cutting himself off for the second time in the span of ten seconds, Gunner gasped and clutched at the railing surrounding the mirrored walls of the elevator when it came to a loud, grinding halt, “Shit. Shit,” Pushing the door open button, Gunner swore again when nothing happened, impatiently beginning to slam on the button, despite knowing nothing would happen, “Um. Uh. I’m really claustrophobic, this… isn’t good.” @scige
Practically scrambling moments before to hit the open button, repeatedly, frantically - Saige had been leaning halfway across the elevator, near comically, one foot off the ground and scuffing the mirror behind it, “Oh - Gunner, hey!” it’d been said simultaneously with his greeting, a small laugh bubbling out as she leaned back again and straightened herself out. She’d been prepared to reply, fingers brushing through her hair as if it would’ve made a difference, a grin already growing - only to be thrown off balance as the elevator stopped, back thudding against the wall she’d already been close to leaning against. “Oh,” Saige repeated - far less enthusiastic than her first, brows furrowing as she pushed herself off from against the wall, “It’ll - Gunner,” she touched his arm - hesitant in doing so, unsure of whether it’d only freak him out further, “It’ll be, like, fine - y’know? There’s gotta be, like - a call button, all elevators have them. Unless, like, I dunno - unless this is just a particularly shitty elevator,” cringing internally at her choice of reassuring words, Saige glanced down the rows of buttons before pressing a red one - pausing, expectantly, for something to happen. Nothing did. “Okay - so, like, usually they like ... would say something. But we can - like, try again. Go balls to the wall pressing the call button. ‘Cos somebody’s gotta ... be like, y’know. Maintaining the building.”
