My new year's resolution is to GET ORGANIZED. Even though I put a ton of effort into art this year, it was a complete nightmare trying to find which drawing went with which month.
For the next year, I'd really like to work on my faces and figures. I'd love to take a comic class or two as well, but we'll see how much time there is!
Thought it'd be nice to do a Halloween theme for this week's perspective assignment, so: Dana Barrett's apartment from Ghostbusters!
Sigourney Weaver does an amazing job dealing with the weirdo dudes trying to slither into her life and her place is practically palatial for an NYC flat.
Put this kitchen together for a whimsical vibe (and spent way longer than I should have on it!). It's always kinda bothered me that I couldn't draw backgrounds very well, and my first perspective class really kicked my butt. This time around, I want to prove that I can do it! 💪
Even now that I know different artists often work on the backgrounds vs character art... I'd like to be able to do everything!
Some splash art for Shiro and Sam. I really wanted to convey the cute, goofy side of their relationship! If you zoom in on the shrimpies, you'll see that they are extremely round and shiny (I'm biased but I think cooked shrimp are adorable).
Because he's a werewolf, Shiro has no trouble one-handing enormous pots and pans! Which is good because he also has a huge appetite 😋.
Colored version! I'd really like to improve my sense of form, among other things 😖. And especially faces! As for the part I like best about this drawing...
Penultimate assignment for sketching class. I often feel like my designs are too "basic", if I attempt them at all, but I've been sweating hard on this one.
At least I don't have to fear having nothing to turn in, but... ever feel like you're never satisfied with the end product? That's the space I'm in, all the time! 🤪
I think it's safe to say I'm an Art Fight slacker... but even slackers can do work sometimes! This is @ag-meade's character, Camden Lightborne.
I was on the hunt for a good "inking pen" brush in CSP, a good balance between too slick and too furry. Yet in the end, I ran back to the default G-Pen brushes.
Is this normal?! Sometimes I wonder if I should use a more "stylish" brush...
TIL that there are 10-20 subspecies of Great Horned Owl, which was driving me nuts when I was trying to draw this one.
I always like when manga artists draw themselves as funny little animals (Arakawa's cow, Nihei's beetle, Ashihara's cat). But it's surprisingly hard to pick one. So I'll do my best to stick with this owl!
I'd be fascinated to know how artists choose their avatar...
I always love the way Ryoko Kui puts thought into the party’s loadout and clothing, but the attention she pays to Marcille’s hair is extra cool. She changes it up regularly, and it’s even story-relevant that she takes extra good care of it!
Anyway, here are some fun styles I tried out on her.
