Being a girl is: wanting to go to bed early but deciding to just get on tumblr/wattpad/Ao3 for a little bit and then end up finding a fic series that you really like and read until well past your usual bedtime then keeping on because it’s already past your bedtime. Then being mad when you wake up in the morning because you overslept your timer.

The comfort of the blankets covering your bare body makes you want to sink deeper into the mattress, but the sudden confusion of your surroundings pulls you out of your groggy state. You come to your senses as you feel for the sheets around you, the unfamiliar texture makes you realize the arm thrown over your waist.
For a split second, you panic, until you force yourself to calm down. You sigh as you remember that you spent the night with Peter, and you nuzzle your body closer to his, a soft smile appearing on your lips.
Peter must have felt your sudden need to be closer, because he pulls you closer to his chest, his skin warm from sleep. A flush of warmth runs over your cheeks. Some of it is from pure joy, but most of it is from giddy at the thought of the night before.
The sun is starting to peek through the blinds of Peter’s window causing you to squint, effectively pulling you out of the sluggishness of sleep. Now that you’re awake, your body can’t stay still. The urge to turn around and press small kisses to Peter’s face was strong, and it took everything in you to stay facing away from him.
You could only move for so long before Peter started to stir, his heightened senses picking up on your restlessness. An incoherent groan slips past his lips, causing you to giggle. You finally turn your body to face him, your hand reaches up to push a mess of his hair away from his eyes. Your hand lowers to rest on the side of his face, your thumb slowly rubs back and forth. Your voice is still warming up as you ask, “Are you awake yet?”
Peter’s eyes are still closed, but a small laugh leaves him. His smile falls rapidly as he tries to conceal it. Now with his face forcing a frown, he responds, “No.”
If your boyfriend wants to play games, you could too. You pull your hand away from his face, and quickly turn back around and move away from his grasp. He opens his eyes at your sudden movement, and he’s met with a view of your bare back. “Oh, okay sorry,” you mumble to him as you make yourself comfortable on the other side of the bed, a grin appearing on your face.
You can hear a chuckle coming from him behind you before you feel an arm around your waist, turning you around and pulling you onto his chest. Pieces of your hair fall around your face as you laugh. “Hey pretty girl,” Peter whispers as he tucks some strands of hair behind your ear then moves to hold the side of your face.
Your heart melts at his greeting. He brings your face down to his to kiss your lips softly. You savor the feeling, but quickly pull away, “I have morning breath, Peter!”
His eyes are still on your lips, his gaze carries an unmistakable look of longing. “I don’t care,” he mumbles as he pulls you back down again.
This time, you don’t pull away. Your lips are beautifully entangled with his. The kiss is deep and fills you with an overwhelming sense of love. Peter’s fingers begin to weave through your hair, giving it a slight tug as he moans into your mouth. You don’t pull away until you absolutely have to, the lack of air causing your head to swirl. “I thought you weren’t awake,” you tease.
“No, no,” he starts, “I’m definitely awake. I don’t know what you’re talking about?” You laugh at his response before looking over his features. You take a mental picture of the Peter you’re looking at now. The morning sun looked good on him.

Everything Has Changed

Summary: Being the only one to believe in your best friend turns out to be your best decision ever.
Word count: 4.8k
A/N: Not all of it fully follows the movie but I went where it felt good!

You stood silently as you watched Jann pack his bags, unsure of whether to be happy or sad that he was leaving for the Nissan Academy. You let your eyes fall to the ground in order to avoid his gaze. You had to admit, it hurt knowing he was leaving. You have been friends with Jann for a few years now. He was one of your only friends, maybe even more. "Jann, are you sure you want to leave? I will miss you so much." You looked at him and there was sadness in your eyes because you were worried that he was gonna forget all about you. You watched Jann finish packing his bags. You can’t help but shake the thoughts of him being gone, of finally being alone. You felt a pit in your stomach at the knowledge that the only person you felt comfortable around was now about to exit your life.
Jann slowly turned to face you, his expression somber. He slowly nodded in response to your question. "I want to leave." He told you softly, but there was a conviction in his words. He knew that this was something he had to do. "I know this may be hard for you to understand, but being at the academy is necessary for me if I'm going to achieve my dream." He paused for a moment before adding, "I promise I'll come visit you whenever I get the chance, okay?" You bit your lower lip, trying to hide the hurt you felt. "I know," you said quietly. You didn't want to hold Jann back from achieving his dreams especially since his dad often did, but you can't help feeling a pang of jealousy. "Good luck," you managed to say and forced yourself to smile at him. You knew it would've been selfish to ask him to stay, but you just couldn't. “Okay, Jann.” You took a deep breath. “I just wish you didn’t have to go.” You looked down, trying not to cry. “I’m happy for you. I know you’ve always wanted this opportunity, and you definitely deserve it. It’s just so hard to accept how different my life will be without you.” You swallowed and sniffled. “I don’t know what I’ll do without you nearby.”
Jann was silent for a moment, contemplating your words. He had thought that you would be more upset at him leaving. In fact, the fact that you seemed to accept his departure so easily made him feel guilty. "I'll miss you too," he finally said, his voice quiet and melancholy. "But I'll be fine. I promise. And like I said, I'll visit whenever I can. But until then, I think I should get going." He slowly turned back to his bags and started to pick them up. You nodded slowly. "Just promise you'll send me a text when you get there so I know you're safe." You said, trying to keep your voice steady. "And I want all the details, okay? I want every little thing you get up to while you're away. Don't keep this to yourself." You said playfully, trying to ease the situation a bit. "But please just come back as soon as you can. I'll feel pretty lost without you" You said, with a pout and puppy eyes. You sighed but nodded slowly. “Okay Jann. It’s time for you to go.” You were trying not to cry and didn’t want to beg him to stay, as you knew it was something he was determined to do. You slowly walked over to him and gave him a last hug and looked up at him, trying to hold in your tears. “I’m so proud of you, Jann. Go chase your dreams.” You said with a loving smile.
Tumblr media
You would receive letters from Jann on a fairly regular basis when he was away, as well as the occasional picture. As time went on, you would receive other pictures, specifically of him posing with his car before races. You could see the happiness in his eyes every time even as you made it clear to his family each time. However, he made it a point to visit you when he had the chance. Months later, you would come out to see him during one of his races. Your eyes were glued to the track as you saw his car blaze past everyone else and take the lead. You couldn't help but smile and cheer. You would continue to watch the race, your eyes not leaving the car at all. But as he came into view, your stomach flipped and your heart started racing. As he crossed the finish line, you couldn't help but scream and cheer even louder, filled with excitement and happiness. You stood and started walking toward the finish line to be able to cheer him properly. You waved your hands at him happily, full of excitement and joy. You couldn't wait to get close to him and tell him how proud you were all this time.
Jann was able to hear your cheers from the track, and as he approached the finish line, he saw you standing there waiting for him. His heart skipped a beat at seeing you. He wasn't expecting you at all. As if in a trance, he drove his car off the track and over to where you were standing, waiting for him. Once he had arrived, he stepped out of the car and walked over to you. His expression was one of sheer joy and he embraced you tightly. He had been waiting for a moment like this. He gave you a warm hug and kissed you on the cheek. "You came to watch!" He said excitedly. "How am I supposed to not win with you out here cheering me on?" He was filled with joy at seeing one of his closest friends so excited to see him again. You smiled and laughed as he approached. “Of course, I came to watch,“ you exclaimed, your eyes wide with excitement at seeing him so happy. Then you quickly pulled him into a tight hug, your arms tight around his body. As you tried to contain your joy at hugging him again. "I missed you so much, Jann," you said with a bright smile, your eyes sparkling with joy. "I’m just so glad you’re doing well and that you’re happy. I'm proud of everything you have achieved."
Jann smiled back at you as you hugged him back. Your arms felt warm and comforting around him, and he let himself enjoy the hug for as long as you wanted to hold him. When you finally pulled away, Jann couldn't help but smile. You were always so supportive and encouraging, and seeing you there made him feel so much better. "Thank you. For everything." He said sincerely, meeting your gaze. "I wish we could see each other more often, I do. But I'm glad I got to see you for this race. I missed you too." He said softly, holding you close to him as he hugged you again. It felt fantastic to have you so close again. He couldn't believe it had been so long. "Thank you. I don't think I would be here if it weren't for you." He said sincerely. "You were one of the only people who was supportive of me. I appreciate that, and I hope you know that as my career continues to unfold, I'll always have a spot for you right at my side." "I'm just happy to see you do what you enjoy and be successful at it." You said, your eyes looking at him lovingly and with admiration of all his achievements thus far. "That's amazing, Jann. And yes, I will always support you. I have your back, and you're just so amazing." You laughed fondly, your eyes showing nothing but happiness at seeing your best friend doing what he loves. "Always," you said, as he held you close to him. You meant what you said too. In your mind, this wasn't just a fun little conversation you were having; these were words with promise, words with a future together. You felt so happy he appreciated the friendship just as much as you did. "I don't want you to ever forget that." You pulled back a little bit and looked into his eyes. You were so close to him, your body pressed against his, and you were starting to feel a little nervous being so close to him. "I'll always be here, Jann."
Jann smiled at you as you spoke, listening intently and remembering every word. You were so supportive and encouraging, and he appreciated that so much. He looked into your eyes as well and felt something he hadn't felt in a while. He hadn't forgotten how good it felt to be close to you and wanted to hold it for as long as he could. He put his hand on your cheek, leaned in closer, and kissed you lightly. He was surprised at what he had done, and suddenly wanted to pull away. You were surprised by the kiss but didn’t stop him. You kissed him right back, putting your hands on his cheeks. You put your whole body into it, feeling the warmth of his lips. After a couple of seconds, you both pulled apart, still smiling at each other. You looked up at him as if in a trance, not wanting to let go of him. But slowly you turned your head and looked back at the track, growing flustered about what just happened having only dreamed of this exact moment. You let out a small giggle, not quite believing that the two of you just kissed. You looked at him with those puppy eyes, as if asking him for a bigger kiss. You wanted more than that, but you were too afraid to tell him.
Jann didn't want to break the moment as well, as he was feeling the same way as you. He kept his face close to yours for a few more moments, enjoying the feeling of your lips against his. When you turned away and glanced back at him, he couldn't help but smile and lean in once more. He wanted to feel your lips again, and this time he wanted to keep them pressed against his. He leaned down to meet you, and kissed you again, this time more passionately. The feeling of your bodies pressed together was intoxicating. This time, your lips pressed closer to his, trying to feel as much from it as you could. When your bodies met, you felt your heart racing, and your hands trembling. You gave in and let it all happen, not knowing nor caring what would happen in the future. With passion and intensity, you kissed him back once again, this time not wanting it to stop. You were still holding your breath as this happened, your eyes closed and your heart racing. You pulled away, breathing heavily, your eyes slightly teary and your lips slightly swollen.
After a moment, Jann ended the kiss by pulling away slowly. He could feel his heart beating fast in his chest as well as his breath being shallow. Thinking the same feeling only came when he was driving, as you broke the kiss, he looked down at you with a smile. "That was amazing," He whispered softly, staring into your eyes before slowly caressing your face. "I think I need more of that." He said playfully, still blushing, but hoping that this meant the beginning of something even more than friendship on both sides. You looked up at him, your eyes sparkling "Yeah, it was amazing," You said with a smile. "I- I think I do too" You added, with your voice trembling slightly, trying to keep the words steady and not losing control. You were still trying to catch your breath. "So does this mean what I think it means?" You asked nervously, with a slight smile on your lips. You tilted your head sideways, your hands on his cheeks, waiting for his answer.
Jann nodded slowly, smiling back at you. He couldn't believe that you felt the same way that he did. "Yeah, it does. It definitely does." He said softly. "I want to be more than friends with you, will you be mine?" He softly caressed your face, looking at you with adoration. "Is that okay with you?" You could feel his heart beating quickly in his chest, matching your own. The question gave you a moment of panic, your body shaking. "Yes." You said, with your voice trembling. "A thousand times yes," you whispered as you got closer to him and smiled. "Oh my god, you don't know how long I have wanted to hear those words," you said with a big smile on your face. Your eyes were sparkling. You then got closer and gave him a long, passionate kiss. You pressed onto him as you kissed him, not wanting to miss a single second of this. "I love you." You whispered softly. Jann pulled you into his body, holding your head gently as he embraced you. The way you pressed your body against him made him blush, his heart beating rapidly. It felt like the beginning of something new, and he was overwhelmed with joy. He pulled you close and kissed you again, pouring into you all the love he had stored up inside of him for so long. "I love you too." He said softly as he continued to kiss you. "I've been waiting to say that to you for so long, and I don't want to waste another second."
Tumblr media
A few months had passed since you and Jann started dating. You had become closer than you had ever been before, taking things slowly and not rushing into anything. You felt happy and content and wanted to share this feeling with Jann. Cheering him on as you watched the race as his family was there as well happily, everything around you seemed to fade out with a ringing in your ears as you stared at the screen in horror. You'd just watched Jann's vehicle violently crash into the barrier of his Nürburgring race. It looked horrific. His car flipped multiple times until the news cut out with nobody knowing anything. Feeling as if you were going to be sick while thinking it must've just been some cruel joke taking place instead. You didn’t know what to feel. You wanted to cry. You wanted to scream and yell. You wanted to break something. But most of all, you wanted to see Jann alive and well again. You looked around, as if in search of an answer to this nightmare you were living. But you knew the answer. The image in front of you was no lie, and Jann wouldn’t come marching up to you and tell you it was all just a joke. You fell on the floor crying. You didn’t need an answer you knew the answer all along.
Your heart started beating faster and faster when you heard the report of Jann's crash. Your mind went blank, and all you could do was stare at the television hoping and praying this was all a nightmare. When the news cut out, you felt yourself being pulled back to reality. A wave of emotions hit you, and you quickly burst into tears. You had known Jann for so long now, more than words could describe, and now you felt like a part of you was missing. You cried for so long, wondering what you were supposed to do now. Life just felt so cruel. You rushed to the hospital as soon as you processed what happened after the crash at the race. Inside, you searched desperately for any answers. You were still trying to process the news you had seen. You couldn’t bear the thought of losing Jann, not after everything you had been through. You looked around for someone, anyone who could give you some sort of update, some news, anything. But there was nothing. You asked one of the nurses, with a quivering voice: “Do you know anything? How is he?”
The nurses were kindhearted and were able to provide you with a bit more information on the situation. Jann was fine and had sustained no major or fatal injuries. He had only bumped and bruised himself but needed a bit of rest as they didn't want him to overexert himself. They also told you that you could visit him to make sure that he was alright. You quickly went over to his room where he was resting, and smiled as you saw him lying there, eyes closed and still breathing. "Jann?" You spoke in a soft whisper. He opened his eyes and saw you standing by the door before slowly moving closer to him. His eyes widened for a second before he nodded, trying to sit up. "Babe?" He said softly, with his voice filled with joy. "Are you okay? I'm sorry about the race. I know you were waiting for me…" He trailed off as he tried to move, only to suddenly jolt in pain. When he saw that you were looking at his various bruises, he quickly attempted to put on a brave face. "I'm fine. They're just scratches." He said, attempting to ease your concerns. "I'm so happy to see you." He said as he lifted his hand to reach out for yours. He wanted to pull you closer, to be surrounded by your comforting presence.
"It's okay, sweetheart, don't move." You rushed to his side, gently taking his hand in your own, trying not to cry as you did so. You caressed his hair and placed a gentle kiss on his forehead, trying not to feel overwhelmed. You cupped his jaw tightly, not wanting to let go of him this time. You were thankful to be there for him and didn't let go. "I thought something happened to you," you whispered softly, trying to control your tears, but failing to do so. "… I'm sorry." He mumbled, still trying to move despite your plea. He wanted to wrap his arm around you and pull you close, to show you how much he cared. He tried to get his mind off of the crash by thinking back to the last couple of months. He had spent every free moment with you, whether it was sharing dinner in the evenings, taking long walks throughout the city, or just talking late into the night. He loved how calm and peaceful of a presence you had, and felt safer than he ever had before.
You wanted to make Jann feel comfortable. You gently tried to lift his head a little and caress his face. "Don't worry, darling. I'm here. Do not apologize for something you cannot control. Rest and relax. I will stay by your side as you heal." You said softly, as your tears filled up your eyes again. As if trying to show Jann how much you cared, you reached your hand down onto his chest and kept it there. It was as if nothing mattered to you at that particular moment, other than Jann's wellbeing. Jann tried to smile back at you, despite feeling like it was hard for him to do so at the moment. However, as soon as you placed your hands on his chest, he felt a sense of peace wash over him. You were the only thing that he wanted to see in this moment, and when you put your hand on his chest, he let out a small sigh. He said softly, his voice weak and raspy. "I'm sorry I worried you. But I'm glad you're here."
When Jack and Danny walked in wanting to check up on the driver, Jann felt his heart skipping a beat when he heard that someone had passed away in the crash. His brain couldn't process the news, and he sat there in silence for a moment. Jann's eyes widened for a brief second upon hearing the news, but he had a feeling it was worse than he had originally thought. He tried to move, but he was too scared of what he might do to his injuries. His voice was soft and weak. He was still processing the news and just wanted to be with you for the moment causing him to yell at the older men to leave. "Stay with me. Please." He whispered softly. "I don't want to be alone." "I am not going to leave you, Jann," you whispered. You looked at him with love in your eyes and caressed his face. You held Jann close, trying to give him a warm embrace as if you only wanted to make him feel comfortable and safe. It seemed as if everything around you but him had disappeared, leaving only Jann and yourself in the room. You had no idea that someone had passed away yet.
Once he was able to go home all he could really do was hold onto you not wanting to let go. Late into the night as he was holding you close Jann slowly took a deep breath, trying to figure out what he wanted to say. He knew that the crash had affected him, and he wasn't sure whether or not he wanted to get behind the wheel again. "I- I don't know if I want to drive again." He said softly, taking another breath. "I know I said I would be racing until I retired, but I'm not sure if I can anymore." He looked at you with sadness in his eyes, not wanting to let you down. You held Jann, listening to his words intently. You could see the fear on his face, and your heart broke as you heard him say that he might not drive again even if it did make sense. You wanted to make him change his mind, but you also wanted to be supportive of his decision. But maybe he would change his mind if something could just convince him not to give in to the fear. “Jann, love, I understand how scary it must be right now,” you spoke to him in a soft voice. “But, I am sure that you are stronger than you think and that you will get through this, okay?”
Jann listened to your words intently and slowly nodded as he thought about what you had said. "I-I don't know." He said softly, still sounding uncertain. "I guess a part of me just wants things to go back to the way they used to be…" He looked at you, hoping that you understood where he was coming from. "I just wanted to make you proud, to make my family proud." He said. "But if I stopped racing now, would I be a failure?” You took a deep breath when Jann finished speaking. You couldn't believe he was asking this question, a question you knew the answer to. "Jann, darling, if you were to stop racing, you would absolutely not be a failure," you spoke to him, not knowing what else to say. "The only thing that matters to me right now is that you are safe and healthy." You said softly, your voice steady and reassuring. "I love you, and I would love you no matter what you do," you told him, gently placing your hand on his forearm. Jann sighed lightly as he absorbed your words. He felt better knowing that you would still love him no matter what he decided to do. He looked at you with adoring eyes. "I love you too. More than I could put into words." He was still trying to figure out what to do with himself, but knew one thing: he wanted to be with you more than anything. As he looked at you, he couldn't help but smile.
Tumblr media
After Jack's pep talk, Jann was finally convinced to try the 24-hour race again. A few months had passed since the crash, and Jann was feeling better than ever. Jann thought about Jack's story, and although he was hesitant at first, he eventually agreed to do the 24-hour race. He felt like he owed it to himself to try one final time, and it would also help him get back into the rhythm of things. The day of the race arrived, and Jann felt a bit nervous as he got ready. However, as he sat in his car and put on his helmet, he felt a rush of adrenaline. He knew he could do this, and he wanted to show everyone and himself that he was still as good as ever. As he prepared for the race, you and he were constantly in contact. You both sent each other numerous messages, expressing your love for each other and wishing for safe travels. When the race started, Jann was finally back on track, feeling more confident than ever. His family, along with you, were there to cheer him on as he raced.
You were anxious, your heart racing as Jann sat in his car, preparing for the race. You could feel the pressure and the stress of the situation, not just for him but also for yourself. You knew how important this race was for him, but you were still scared of what might happen. What if he didn't like his racing anymore? What if he crashed again? But most importantly, what if he was going to get hurt? It was a very hard moment for you, but you had to keep a level head. You had to support Jann as best as you could. As the race continued, Jann became focused. The world around him disappeared as he focused on the race. He felt his adrenaline pumping, as he was doing everything he could to win this race. He sped past other racers, leaving them in his wake. The crowd around him grew louder as they cheered for him. Almost as if he could see you smiling at him, your eyes sparkling, as he sped by. He was more determined than ever to win this race. As the race came close to its ending, Jann was still in the lead. You got even more excited now, your heart racing at his speed.
The hours passed by quickly as Jann raced. With the wind blowing in his hair and the sun setting behind him, he felt invincible. He pushed the car to its limits and enjoyed every second of the race. As the hours passed, you got more anxious, watching the hours tick by. When Jann crossed the final line, your heart was racing fast. You stood up quickly making your way to him, waiting for him. As Jann finally stepped out of the car, he was greeted by your warm embrace and your joyful yell. "Oh, my love." You screamed as you hugged him tightly, tears in your eyes. Jann was filled with joy as he climbed out of the car, his hands raised in the air in celebration. He knew that he had done it. He had raced in the 24-hour race and survived. Jann felt like a king as he got out of the car and was greeted by the hugs and congratulations of the supporters around him. He looked at the crowd of family and friends, but his eyes were quickly drawn back to you. He saw how excited and happy you were for his victory, and it made him all the more glad that he had continued to push himself. When he felt your arms wrap around him and squeeze you tightly, his heart raced as well. He let out a long sigh as he finally had the chance to take a break and soak in what had just happened. "Hey, babe." He said softly, still breathing heavily from the race. "I did it… I'm so happy I did it…" He smiled softly, still holding onto you tightly.
“I couldn't be happier,” you said as you leaned close and kissed Jann’s cheek, tears still in your eyes. “I am so proud of you, my love.” You continued to hug him tightly, your arms around his neck, your faces so close your breaths misted against each other's cheek. “You did it. You did it,” you whispered into his ear, your voice trembling. You tried to suppress your excitement, but you just couldn't help yourself. “You really did it.” You kept repeating this as if to reassure yourself that the victory was real and that you both weren't just young dumb kids anymore. "Yeah, we did it." He said softly, smiling as he looked at you and kissed your forehead. He was still trying to catch his breath as his body was feeling the fatigue from the stressful race. He leaned his cheek on yours as he pulled himself closer. He held you tightly as well, not wanting to let go, not wanting this moment to ever end. "Thank you, baby. I couldn't have done it without you." He said softly. "You were there for me every step of the way, and I can't thank you enough for that. I love you." He whispered into your ear, and his voice trembled as he repeated these three words once again.

“jann is this a good idea? what if you crash or something?” you tried to get your point across but jann’s lips on your neck just feel too good. your words stumble off your lips and move into the heavy air of the car.
“i’m not gonna crash baby, trust me.” he moved back so he can look into your eyes, “you trust me right?”
you nodded. “of course i do, and i trust your driving skills too but you might get distracted.” you run a hand down his neck and let it rest on his chest.
“i’ll take it slow if it makes you feel better. i mean,” he looks down at the clock in the car. “it is 1 in the morning so.” he chuckles.
you let a small smile grace your face, nodding you kiss him once more and give in. “okay, let’s do it then.”
jann smiles and moves you to sit on his lap, effectively removing your pants and underwear. he lets his fingers run over your clit, getting you ready to take him. he brings your lips to his, helping you relax so he could properly prep you.
when he felt you were ready, he let you unbuckle his pants and pull them down. “i know you’re eager, love but don’t rip my pants,” he teases.
“i’m sorry, i just need you,” you connected your lips again while he slipped himself into you, making sure to go slow so he doesn’t hurt you. “fuck, jann.”
“you ready to ride, love?” he cranked the car on as you got situated. you nodded and he put the car in drive, starting slow at first.
while you on his lap started to pick up some speed, holding his shoulders for some balance. jann had one hand on the wheel and one on your waist, picking up speed as you clenched around him. “baby, you feel so good.”
“jann—fuck. go faster.” you lean into his neck as he listens you your request, you riding him faster. he continuously speeds up the more you both build up to your climax.
jann reached his hand that was on your waist and brings it to your clit, massaging it to bring you closer to your orgasm. “let go for me, love,” jann keeps his eyes on the road and pushes the speed of the car to as fast as it can go and you cum hard, letting out the loudest moan.
“jann, slow down.” your chest heaves up and down as he listens and lets the car slow down. “did you come?”
he shakes his head, “no, doll, help me out? please?”
you smile and resume bouncing on his lap, helping him finish. when he finally stops the car all the way, he places both hands on your hips, helping to guide you. “just like that, love. i’m almost there.”
he groans as he slowly feels himself about to finish, pulling you in for another kiss. after another moment, he finally lets himself finish inside you, breathing heavy.
the car is silent between the both of you, save for the engine of the car running. you let your fingers scratch the nape of jann’s neck, laying a couple of kissed on his face.
“thank you for trusting me, my love. was it good for you?”
“of course. and yes, i really did enjoy it.” you move to put your pants and underwear back on so you can sit back in the passenger seat. “i didn’t realize you were a daredevil like that.”
jann laughs, pulling his pants and stuff back up. “you know i’m a racer, of course i’m a daredevil.
when you both are situated, jann looks over at you. “you wanna do this again tomorrow? same time?”
you roll your eyes, laughing. “same time tomorrow.”

warnings: fluff, talks of fatigue
word count: 372
“i need to switch with someone soon,” jann’s voice crackles through the headset. “might fuckin’ pass out.”
after you heard that, you looked to jack, silently asking him to listen to jann. jack could see you from his peripheral and sighed, “come in, jann.”
a minute later, jann’s car turned into the pit and he tumbled out the car, sweat pouring off his body. he ripped his helmet and mask off and stumbled towards you.
“jann,” you reached out to him. “fuck, baby. come sit.”
he reached you and practically laid his whole body weight on you as you laid him to rest on a chair near you. you unzipped his suit as to let some air get to him. “i don’t know how much more i can take.”
you looked up at a nearby clock and seen there were nearly 10 hours left. jann had raced 7 and a half of the 14 hours already raced. switching out with matty for a few.
“i know, jann. you’ve done well so far though, just breathe.” you patted his forehead and chest with a towel, rubbing your hand on his forearm. “let me get you some water.”
as you went to stand up, he grabbed your wrist. “please don’t go yet. i need a few more minutes with you.” he pulled you to sit on his lap, holding you close to him. “everything about this is excruciating.”
“i know, you made it this far though, you should be just as proud as everyone is of yourself. if you want to rest, then rest. you’re the strongest racer here, take your time.”
he nods his head, letting your words sink in. he grabbed your face, bringing you in for a kiss. you put your hands on his neck, letting the towel slide down on the floor.
before the both of you could pull away, you heard a throat clear behind you. “could you guys pull your lips off each other for a moment so i can make sure he’s okay?” jack sighs jokingly.
you both chuckles and you get up off jann’s lap, “i’m gonna grab you some water. just relax, my love. i believe in you.” leaving one last kiss on his cheek.

In Whatever Way [Adam Warlock x GN!Reader]
Plot Summary: When he unknowingly tests your patience, you snap at Adam and say something you immediately regret.
Word Count: 5,1k
Warnings: Guardians 3 spoilers, talk about canon typical violence, cursing, slight injury & mention of blood, bit of angst, hurt & comfort, idiots in love, author being a sucker for the ‘oh. oh.’ moment of realization trope
A/N: Kind of a follow up to this one, but can absolutely be read as a stand alone
I have exactly one complaint and that’s Adam not having Will’s freckles (for obvious bodypaint reasons), so I went ahead and fixed that 💁
Tumblr media
If someone had told you a year ago that a Sovereign would become your favorite person in the galaxy, you would’ve laughed in their face and then put a bullet in between their eyes for good measure. But life’s got a twisted sense of humor sometimes.
That first night after the defeat of the High Evolutionary, it’d been way too messy and hectic to find Adam a place of his own, so you’d dropped him off at your tiny apartment, very specifically told him to stay put and to not touch anything, and then headed out again in search of food and some clothes. You’d found those, but alongside them, you’d also found the furry F’Saki Adam had basically adopted. He’d looked about as lost as his owner, so you’d tucked the little guy under your arm and had taken him with you. Arriving back at your home, you’d discovered Adam curled up on your bed, fast asleep. The F’Saki had immediately scurried out from your grasp, made himself comfortable at Adam’s legs and had started snoring almost right after. You’d stood in the middle of your room, still in your dirty, torn uniform and bone tired, a young Sovereign and his pet passed out on your bed and had actually stopped to wonder how on earth your life had gotten to that point.
Not seeing a reason for staying any longer, you’d decided you might as well go out and get blissfully blackout drunk with your friends. Leaving a note with the change of clothes and food, you’d turned towards the entrance to find Nebula standing in your doorway. She’d scanned the situation she’d walked in on very carefully and then had simply raised slender, judgmental brows at you. You’d shooed her out, gently closing the door behind you, and had reminded her that ‘Adopting strays that’ve tried to kill us is kinda our thing; didn’t think I’d need to tell you of all people.’
Ever since that night, Adam had been virtually glued to your side. It’d been a bit strange and uncomfortable at first; you weren’t used to always having company, much less that of a Sovereign. There’d most definitely been an adjustment period with quite a few mishaps, one of which had ended with him in the med-bay with a bloody nose after he’d scared the ever living daylights out of you while you’d been testing the upgrades Rocket had made to your gauntlets - you’d apologized profusely for the rest of that day. Over time though, it had become apparent that he meant you no harm, nor did he have any ill will, he simply wished to repay the kindness you’d shown him when he’d felt he had no one looking out for him anymore.
And despite the fact that his golden skin and hair, his engineered-to-be-perfect face and body and his manner of speaking reminded you of his heritage everyday, you’d found it increasingly easy to ignore the fact that he was part of the species responsible for so much pain in your life. Of course, it wouldn’t be fair to hold him accountable for actions committed by his people long before he was even born. But it wasn’t just that, Adam was simply… different from the rest of the Sovereign. He might’ve been created to be perfect, but he was far from it: He was only just understanding his own limits, landing him in situations that had him in over his head more often than not. He could be arrogant and quick to anger over the smallest details. He only liked learning things if they came to him easy, but grumpily and quickly dropped the ones that didn’t. But there was always an underlying innocent curiosity and kindness in his actions; in the way he’d so effortlessly bonded with the rescued animals he was now taking care of. In the way he always immediately offered assistance, no matter how menial the task. In the way he’d taken such an interest in any and all earth things, simply because they held special meaning to you. In the few months since he’d come into your life, he’d captivated you so completely, had gotten you to care for him so deeply and truly, it even shocked yourself at times still. But you wouldn’t have it any other way.
There is however still one topic of conversation that never seems to get easier and that’s his late mother, Ayesha. High priestess and figurehead of the crusade against your kind; all because of shapeshifting abilities you never even asked for. You’re very well aware of the fact that, before he became a part of the Guardians, she was the only family Adam had. That he’d cared for her very much, he still does, it’s obvious in the way he talks about her. And usually you let him talk, for his sake; to let him grieve by sharing stories about the loved one he lost. But today’s been exhausting, to say the least. You’ve been up since the crack of dawn and nothing seems to work out the way it’s supposed to. At the moment, you’re down somewhere in the bowels of Knowhere, courtesy of a broken filtration system. And since your resident genius raccoon mechanic is off world with Groot and you aren’t half bad with machines, the honor of trying to fix it had gone to you. You’d been down there for hours now, though, and aren’t making any real progress. Adam had joined you a little while back, and while you usually welcome his company, he’s picked a particularly bad day to select his mother as a topic of conversation. Your nerves are frayed, your patience running thin, but you hold your tongue, choosing to only answer in occasional hums of acknowledgement to confirm that you’re listening. That works out just fine right up until the moment he says “You remind of her, actually.”
The wrench you’re currently using almost slips from your sweaty palms as you bristle and hiss “Don’t ever say that again.” His answer is immediate and while you’re not looking at him, you can hear the genuine confusion in his voice. “Why not? It’s the truth.” The more rational part of you knows he means it as a compliment - but that part seems to have taken the day off. You swallow the rising bile in your throat before you reply with “I am nothing like that vile woman. Don’t compare me to her again, do you understand?” You’ve quite obviously hit a nerve, as you hear him rise from his seated position on some debris and when he speaks again the confusion in his voice has given way to anger. “My mother was not vile, take that back!”
You mumble “Maybe not to you…” more to yourself than anything else as you busy yourself with the repairs, absolutely not in the mood for this conversation, but he hears anyways. “I don’t care what you might think of her; she loved me!” A bark of laughter escapes you before you can stop it, bitter and cruel. “Please, maybe she loved what you were supposed to be; the ultimate weapon, the next step in their precious perfect evolution, but you failed that spectacularly. And even that’s pushing it!” The bolt you’ve been trying to loosen seems to have gotten stuck even worse as you aggressively throw your whole weight down on the wrench’s handle, any and all social courtesies you’ve kept up around Adam in regards to this particular topic going right out the window. “But don’t take that personally; Sovereign just aren’t capable of love, it’s as simple as - FUCK!!” The bolt finally gives way, sending you face first into one of the pipes of the machinery. Pulling back with a pained hiss, you bring a hand to your throbbing forehead and let out a few more curses when it comes away bloody.
Breathe in, breathe out. Breathe in, breathe out. Two deep, slow breaths it takes for you to calm down. It takes two more for realization to hit and the regret that comes with it threatens to choke you on the spot. Adam’s gone deathly quiet and you’d honestly prefer if he lost his temper with you; that you could handle at least. You’re terrified of what you’ll find when you turn around, so you do so slowly and immediately wish you hadn’t at all.
Adam’s an awful liar; he wears his heart on his sleeve and his emotions always plain on his face for everyone to read. And right now? Even on that first night, when he’d been injured, scared and all alone, you don’t think he’d looked so completely and utterly heartbroken. His name has barely left your lips in a desperate plea when he turns and takes off, the golden glow of his powers vanishing around a corner and completely out of sight not a second later. There’s no point in going after him right now, you know that, he’s stubborn, especially when he’s upset - not that that helps you feel better about yourself in any capacity; you well and truly want to throw yourself out of the nearest airlock. With a heavy sigh, you pick up the discarded wrench from the floor, deciding to give the young Sovereign some space and quickly, haphazardly finish with your work instead.
By the time you leave the med-bay, a bandaid now covering the wound on your forehead, it’s been a good hour or two, so you make your way to Adam’s apartment, hesitantly knocking on the door. When there’s no answer, you peek through one of the small windows, but the room is empty except for Blurp curled up on the bed, snoring contently. You check the cantina next, then the complex where the animals had been set up. You check in with Kraglin and Cosmo, Drax and Phyla, and basically any residents of Knowhere that you come across - no one has seen the golden man since he went off to help you. Your search eventually brings you to the spaceport, where you find the Bowie freshly docked, Groot carrying crates down the loading ramp, Rocket on his shoulders. Considering you were running out of places to check that were actually on Knowhere and Adam didn’t need oxygen like the rest of you, you figure you might as well ask if they’d seen him somewhere in the general vicinity of the giant head while coming back.
“Rocket, have you seen Adam?” the question’s out of your mouth before you’ve even properly reached them and your furry friend doesn’t bother to look up from the data pad he’s studying as he scoffs “Nice to see you, too, (y/n). Yeah, me and Groot are fine, mission went great, thanks for asking; always touching to come home to such a warm welcome.” Mumbling out an apology you only half mean, you cross your arms over your chest and look at him expectantly. When he realizes you’re not gonna go away, he hooks the pad to his belt with a groan and looks at you, one elbow propped up against Groot’s head. “How the flarg would I know? Goldie’s attached to your hip, not mine.” You don’t wanna have to get into details right now, so you settle for “Usually, sure. But I messed up, he ran off and now I can’t find him.” Rocket snorts, clearly not buying it. “The guy looks at you like you hung the friggin’ stars in the sky, what could you of all people have possibly done to piss him off that bad?” Drawing your bottom lip between your teeth, you avoid eye contact with him and busy yourself with a loose thread on your shirt instead. Details it is after all. “I… might’ve insulted his mother and told him I don’t believe Sovereign are capable of love.” The quiet lasts for all of half a second before Rocket starts cackling so hard, he goes tumbling off of Groot’s shoulders and ends up on the ground; clutching his stomach he’s almost howling in laughter and it makes heat shoot up to your face in both embarrassment and anger as you stomp your foot like a child throwing a tantrum. “Rocket this isn’t funny!!”
The raccoon struggles to his feet, one paw still on his knee as the other wipes at his eyes. “You’re right; it’s not. It’s hysterical! I mean… if that’s how you talk to a guy you’re actually into, I’d hate to see how you treat the ones you don’t like.” Brows furrowing in bewilderment, the complete change of topic makes you fumble for a moment as you ask “What… what the hell is that supposed to mean?” All traces of amusement vanish from Rocket’s face, jaw going slack as he stares at you and realizes you’re serious. He lets out a low whistle before he states “Wow. And here I thought the golden boy was clueless. At least he’s got some excuse, he ain’t been around the galaxy for all that long, but you? You can’t be for real.” You’re very quickly growing very tired of this conversation, so with a huff, you throw your hands up in exasperation. “Rocket, are you gonna stand here and give me riddles for the rest of the day or are you gonna help me?” Said help comes from the tree that’s been busy unloading the ship up until now. “I am Groot.” Your head snaps towards your teammate at the insinuation. “What tracker?” Now it’s Rocket’s turn to look embarrassed, a disappointed sigh and a long, drawn out version of his name leaving your lips. “I thought we talked about this ages ago; you can’t go putting trackers on people without their consent!” He doesn’t seem all that bothered by your outburst as he mocks “Oh boo hoo, y’all constantly whine about that right up until the moment it benefits you - like right now!” But he goes digging through one of the pockets on his belt anyway and holds out the small device he finds to you. Your anger more or less evaporates as you are yet again reminded that Rocket does care, in his own way. You kneel down to his level, take the tracker and give him a hug as you thank him - and just for good measure, press a long, disgusting kiss to his furry cheek as payback for laughing at your predicament. He scrambles out of your hold in obvious discomfort, gagging noises accompanying you as you take your leave, but as usual, he needs to have the last word, shouting “Save the smooches for Goldilocks!!” at your retreating figure.
Not even ten minutes later, you’re looking up at one of the tallest buildings in Knowhere. It’s an old, dilapidated communications tower that is long overdue for demolition; it’s all rusted metal and broken off, jagged edges, entirely impossible to climb without flight capabilities. Out of options, you helplessly check the tracker once more just to make sure that, yes, unfortunately he’s really up there, Rocket’s tech could be trusted on that and squinting up at the top you’re almost sure you see a glimmer of gold. You pocket the device with a shaky inhale and cup your hands around your mouth. “Adam!” you shout, even though you don’t really need to; he’s got enhanced senses, you’re certain he’d be able to hear you even if you whispered. “Adam, I know you’re up there, can you please come down?” Five seconds pass. Then ten. Then thirty. Nothing. “Listen, I know I messed up and I know you’re upset, but this isn’t gonna just go away, we need to talk about it!” A full minute of silence passes this time, dread and anxiety weighing down your shoulders more and more with each second that ticks by. When you speak again, you’re worried about your voice breaking, so it does come out as a whisper this time. “Adam, please. At least give me a chance to fix this.” Head hung low, you run both hands through your hair and over your face with an annoyed groan, upset with both his stubbornness and with yourself for having caused this mess in the first place. Thinking your attempt at a conciliation lost, you turn to leave and almost fall flat on your ass in shock when you find Adam standing there, arms crossed over his chest and glaring at you. “I do not wish to speak with you.”
“And you don’t have to, you just… have to listen for a moment, alright?” It takes him a few long, agonizing seconds to begrudgingly nod and you let out a relieved breath. Despite the hours you’d just spent searching for him, carefully laying out what you wanted to say, you’re drawing a blank at this very moment, but you try anyways. “Okay, look… I’m sorry about what I said earlier, I truly am.” When he scoffs in disbelief you reach for his hand, only to have him pull away, making your heart sink. Ever since he’d started experiencing things for himself and figuring out his likes and dislikes, it’d become clear quite quickly that Adam enjoyed physical affection, especially when you were the one to initiate it. He’d never turned it down - until now. How badly had you messed up?
“I mean that, Adam. It’s just that… I know Ayesha was your family and you miss her, but the person you knew her to be and the person I knew her to be are… quite contrasting. And I honestly don’t think there’s a way for me to reconcile both views with each other. I’ve let you talk about her because it seemed to make you happy, but you have to understand that it’s hard for me to hear praises about a person who was directly responsible for so much suffering and pain in my life. However, I also know that my experiences and rage… blind me, to a certain degree; lumping together all Sovereign isn’t fair, cause everybody’s their own person and can make their own choices, you’ve proven that.”
You can see the gears turning in his head, but he stays quiet and avoids looking at you all the same. You swallow hard around the lump that’s formed in your throat before you continue speaking. “Be that as it may, I also want you to know that you don’t have to accept my apology if you don’t want to.” His eyes are on you in a second and the hopeful tone in his voice when he says ‘I don’t?’ threatens to split your heart in two. “No, you don’t. I’m apologizing because it’s the right thing to do and because I feel absolutely awful about having hurt someone I care so much about. But if you feel that I’ve crossed a line, then…” Clearing your throat to keep your voice from breaking, you feel tears burning behind your eyes. “Then you’re under no obligation to accept it for my sake and I’ll have to live with that. I’ll give you some time to think about it.” Brushing past him, calls of your name fall on deaf ears as you leave, considering that’s just about all the emotional toll you’ll be able to take today.
A pillow tightly clutched to your chest, you’re curled up in bed not much later, tears still fresh on your cheeks. Honestly, you’re not sure why exactly you’re even crying. Because you’re sad at the prospect of having lost a friend? Because, despite of what you said, you wish he’d been less stubborn and just accepted your apology? Because you’re frustrated with yourself over how close you’d allowed the two of you to grow in the first place? It really doesn’t make sense to you. It had taken years for the rest of the Guardians to chip away at the walls you’d built around yourself so that they could squeeze inside, but Adam? A few months was all it had taken for him to get under your skin. For you to look forward to spending time with him everyday. For his laugh to become your favorite sound. For —
Your train of thought gets stopped dead in it’s tracks by a soft knock on your door, immediately followed by the scratching of tiny claws and an all too familiar whine. Wiping your palms over your eyes to get rid of the rest of the wetness staining your face, you scramble out of bed and make your way towards the entrance of your apartment. As expected, you find Adam and Blurp on the other side, the F’Saki slipping inside like he owns the place as soon as he’s able. He makes himself comfortable on the foot of your bed and looks at both of you expectantly, all bright eyes and perked ears. A setup like this normally means movie night, a little tradition you’d started to help Adam get a hold on as many customs as possible while still having fun and not actually throwing him into social interactions that would make everybody involved uncomfortable. For all intents and purposes, with the dim lighting in your room, the messy bed and Adam on your doorstep in his usual sleeping getup of sweatpants and a tank top, it does look like that’s what’s about to happen, you can’t blame the little guy for misinterpreting. Dragging your gaze back to the golden man at your doorstep, you’re surprised to find he doesn’t look half as exhausted as you feel. Matter of fact, this is the calmest and most determined you’ve seen him all day.
“May I come in?” You step aside to let him, gently closing the door behind you both with a quiet click. “I’ve thought about what you told me earlier and I think I’ve come to a conclusion on what I must do.” Dreading what comes out of his mouth next, you can’t seem to muster up the strength to look at him and keep your eyes downcast, only for his hands to enter your field of view and grab hold of your own. “I need to apologize to you.” Your head snaps up to find that he’s completely serious and barely manage to stutter out an incredibly intelligent ‘Huh?’
Adam lightly squeezes your hands when he continues. “Up until you pointed it out, it never occurred to me how the topic of my mother, my people might make you feel. Unintentional or not, my actions hurt someone I care about and I don’t like how it makes me feel. Apologizing is what I should do in that case, correct?” You wrangle with yourself for a second, but then squeeze back gratefully. “Yes, that’s right, and I’m thankful that’s the conclusion you came to, but… Adam, you couldn’t have known. I never said anything about it, instead I let my negative emotions fester and grow until I couldn’t take it anymore and it all came out in the worst way possible. If anything, we’re both a little to blame for this.” Pausing to take a deep breath, you continue with the question you really want answered, even though you’ve got a pretty good idea already. “So… does that mean we’re okay? You’re not upset with me and want me out of your life?” You watch his eyes grow wide in shock and his hands move up to your shoulders to settle there with a firm grip. “Is that what you were afraid of? Why you’ve been crying?” Shrugging as best as you can, you mumble “Kind of? You seemed so angry with me, I just thought I’d crossed a line there was no coming back from and it made me sad, so—“ The sentence stays unfinished as Adam envelops you in a bone crushing hug, even lifting you off the ground a little.
“(y/n), you’re the best thing that’s happened to me since I came into this world and I don’t even want to think about what my life would be like without you in it.” he says, face buried in the crook of your neck and you’re glad for it as you feel heat rising all the way to the top of your ears. Hugging him back just as tight, you reply “I don’t want to think about my life without you in it anymore, either.” Content just being in each other’s arms, you stay like that for a bit, until he breaks the comfortable silence with a quiet call of your name as he carefully puts you back on your feet, to which you respond with a hum of acknowledgment. “Do you really think me incapable of love?” And just like that, the feeling of wanting to throw yourself out an airlock returns; frantically stringing together the word ‘No!’ about ten times as you pull back to properly look at him. “No, of course I don’t, that was just… When people are angry, they’ll sometimes say and do things they don’t actually mean. But I swear I don’t think that about you, how could I? You’re proving the opposite every day.”
“I am?” he questions, brows furrowed, confusion and doubt clear as day and you can’t help but laugh softly as you go to cup his handsome face between your palms. “Oh my sweet Adam, do you really not see it?” Bringing his own hands to lightly hold your wrists, he sighs. “I wasn’t created to love. I was created to kill. To destroy. To bring pain and misery. So when you said that, I was… I am scared you might be right.” Gently running your thumbs over his cheeks, you simply look at your golden boy for a mere moment. The last rays of the artificial sunlight filtering in through your blinds cast him in a beautiful glow; eyes warm like honey, skin glittering like stars and the pattern of slightly darker golden, coppery spots over his nose and cheeks, an imperfection akin to freckles you’re still surprised they let him keep, all the more prominent. Of course he’s capable of love, he has to be. Surely, you wouldn’t fall for someone who wouldn’t be able to—
Oh.
Oh.
So that’s what that prick of a raccoon had been talking about. With the benefit of hindsight, it honestly baffles you it had taken this long for the other shoe to drop. Adam calling your name is what kicks your brain back into functioning after that epiphany; you blink and shake your head a little before responding. “Sorry, I was just… never mind. Do you… do you really not see how your everyday actions show love?” His eyes flick between yours as he considers your words and then settles on “I’m… not entirely certain what love is supposed to look or feel like.”
“Oh dear, uhm…” you’re unsure if you’ll be able to explain that to him properly, but you’ll be damned if you don’t at least try. “Well… there’s many different forms of love. All similar, but slightly different in some ways. But overall it’s… to deeply care for another being, I guess? When being with them brings you joy? When you want to see them safe and happy? And even though you might wish for that happiness to be with you, it’ll be fine if it’s not cause they matter more to you than yourself.” Your hands have wandered to the base of his neck, fingers buried in the short hair as he cocks his head to the side in thought. “Like you and the rest of the Guardians let Peter Quill and Mantis go on their own paths even though it made you sad to see them go?” Grinning, you nod in confirmation. “Exactly. And the way you took it upon yourself to take care of the animals we saved? The way you adopted Blurp, in spite of what your mother wanted, cause you felt he was sad and lonely? How you went out of your way to make sure I felt comfortable around you? All of that means you care. All of that are ways of showing love.” It’s obvious he’s trying real hard to comprehend everything you’ve just explained to him, but it a lot, so you continue with “Love is one of the most simple and basic emotions in most beings. But navigating it and differentiating between it’s different forms can be difficult - for everyone. There’s no rush though, you can take all the time in the world to figure it all out for yourself. I promise you have nothing to worry about, you’re perfectly fine, okay?”
Adam brings one of his hands from your waist up to cup your cheek and smiles when you lean into his touch. This is what he’d been trying to tell you earlier, when he’d compared you to his mother: He trusts you completely, your judgement, too. You make him feel at peace like no one else in the universe. “Okay.” he replies and you return his smile, just barely containing the urge to pepper kisses over his pretty face and -
Yeah you’re gonna have to deal with this particular mess of emotions sooner rather than later.
The tender moment gets interrupted by Blurp whining at you two, impatiently hopping from one paw to another on the foot of your bed. “It would appear Blurp insists on a movie night. If you feel like it?” you chuckle and Adam happily agrees. So you set up everything as usual and settle on a lighthearted family comedy to watch. But the day’s been long, exhausting and emotionally draining; try as you might your eyes keep drifting shut and you’re out cold ten minutes into the movie.
The golden man jumps a bit when there’s a slight thump against his shoulder, only to find you fast asleep. His focus now on you instead of the movie, tender fingers ghosting over the bandaid on your forehead in concern, he thinks about what you’ve just told him. About what love was supposed to feel like and it dawns on him that yes, the warmth that spreads through his chest all the way down to his feet when you do as little as smile at him must be love. And yet when he’s with you it’s… different from what it felt like to be with his mother or to be with Blurp or the rest of the Guardians. It irks him to not be able to properly discern what makes you special; you’d said there were different forms of love, but how was he supposed to understand the difference?
As you curl into his side more, one arm coming across his chest to hug him and his name subconsciously falling from your lips in a barely audible, sleepy mumble, he realizes it doesn’t matter, nor does he really care, at least not right this moment. For now, it’s enough for him to be certain of the fact that he loves you and you love him - in whatever way.

would you like to dance | a. warlock
summary: after the defeat of the high evolutionary, everyone is dancing and celebration. except him.
small blurb, cute-meets, fluff, himbo adam and david bowie, duh. somewhat GOTG3 spoliers
a/n; adam warlock and will poulter have utterly bewitched me. and blonde, beefy himbos will always be my weakness. also, im so sorry for literally disappearing more months, im working on getting my inspiration back along with, IVE BEEN SO BUSYY. thank you, enjoy reading.
You'd never miss a chance to dance, especially now in the midst of a celebration. Everyone, new and old, the people were dancing and it couldn't have been any better. Especially to Florence + the machines. It was pure euphoria, even Nebula was singing her robotic arms and hips. Except him.
Golden skin and hair soaked damp from dirt and sweat, he was shaking a little and even looked scared, or better described as confused. You weren't oblivious, you recognized him from the attack. Having not anticipated one before or after the guardians left Knowhere in Cosmo, Kraglin and your defense; he took quite a damage to your planet.
Yet, he sat there shivering and looking so small despite the power inside of him. Everyone around you held peace and redemption high on their moral compass, you could only assume the guardians had choses to give the beautiful man a second chance. He still looked so melancholy as he gazed into the cheering crowd.
Your hips slowly stopped swaying and you let go the new kid's hands as they were just swinging in delight, excusing yourself as you made your way to him. Slow footsteps and you weaved through the crowd, the god-like man hadn't noticed your presence yet. To your surprise, only noticing when he slightly flinched as you spoke up with a small wave.
“Hey,” your voice came out soft and gentle. You noticed the gears turning in his head as he looked you up and down, almost as if he was assessing threats. You only sat a foot from him on the step while you waited for his response. The gentle nature and patience from you confused him, almost halting his thought process as he struggled to even greet you.
“S-salutations.'' He didn't mean to stutter, but a new feeling of embarrassment (one feeling he’d yet to feel until now, Adam decided he wasn't too fond of it) came over him as the syllables left his mouth. “I’m adam.”
You smiled softly and introduced yourself, an awkward beat fell over you two before he pointed up to the speakers. “What is this?”
“What is what?” your eyebrows furrowed as you leaned in closer to the man, not noticing how bright his golden eyes were.
“The sound, the melody, everyone is cheering and moving too.” he sounded so unsure of everything as he spoke, an aggressive confusion. It was almost adorable seeing a grown man so lost. But you had to grow accustomed to finding beings unknowing of the most basic things to you, the universe was big.
You laughed and Adam found himself smiling at the sound leaving your lips, “its music, Adam. People dance to music, Quill was a fan of this band, Florence and the machines are a popular band from earth.”
Adam was still slightly confused on the nature of what a band was and what machine made this melody but he nodded. He looked back at you and noticed the way your chest heaved slightly from dancing, grime on your face and arms from helping the kids and animals back onto knowhere, yet Adam felt an overwhelming feeling he would yet put a name too throughout his entire body. It made him feel jumpy and nervous, but also warm and relaxed at the same time. Emotions were quite confusing.
Then you began to sway, how could you not as the speakers began to blare David Bowie, probably your favorite earth artist. A smile graced your lips and, of course, Adam noticed. You were dancing, and it was beautiful.
Then, you finally turned to him, a light in your eyes as you offered him; “would you like to dance?”
Adam didn't know how to dance, he wasn't sure of much. Your hands were out and open for him, Adam tried to think about it but he was unsure of what to even think. Reluctantly and almost scared, he took your hands and the warmth enveloped him. You tugged him quite harshly to his feet, the blanket slipping from his shoulder as he stood awkwardly in front of you and around the crowds of people. Little children and even smaller animals scurrying around him, but he only saw you as you started to sway and bob your head. Adam felt an uncontrollable tug at his lips take over.
You looked up at him, he stood bulky and stiff in front of you, a stark contrast to everyone around. Adams eye scanned the area, a self conscious look in his bright eyes before looking at you, “i don't know how to dance.”
“Just let your body move to the music! However you want to!” you spoke over the music, jumping on the balls of your feet and spinning the sound of Starman by David Bowie.
Adam had never had the privilege to do ‘however he wanted’ so a part of him felt even more stunned. You noticed the hesitancy in his body and took his hands and started to swing, Adam still struggled to let go and lose the tense and stiff feeling in his body. “Come on, Adam!”
“Okay, okay!” he laughed, trying to move his shoulders and head similar to yours, not realizing the beaming smile on his face as the two of you danced. As he loosened his movements and you both moved much more fluidly, you jumped and swung your hips, Adam looked a little ridiculous as he moved his arms through the air but he felt free. Hand in hand you swayed around, Adam would spin you (with some guidance, obviously) and each of you would fill with laughter.
Adam was still quite underdeveloped in the material world, he didn't know a lot and many things were still so confusing. He had a lot of time to figure out what everything meant in this vast world, what every emotion felt like and how he should react. What Adam likes and dislikes, who he likes and dislikes.
Right now, as he music blasted around him along with smiles and cheers for the victory of defeating the high evolutionary. Adam moving in a more free way he's ever felt with you, smiling and so close to him it made his skin feel on fire. Adam decides he likes David Bowie, and dancing. Dislikes the feeling of hurting people and being ordered around. Really likes seeing you smile, and thinking about how he could make it happen more, and more.

Strangers Like Me
Adam Warlock x reader

Warnings: lotttssss of kissing. Tons.

__________
Adam Warlock loved to learn.
It was something he counted as a great blessing, finding out so many things he would never have known if he had stayed with the Sovereign. He had felt, even when only a few days old, that there was something better out there, and the Guardians had helped him find it. In the six months since his premature birth, Adam had learned so much, both about himself and the galaxies he now called home.
He found out a new dislike or preference he had everyday, but one thing that he had learned early on was that he liked having you around. You were incredibly kind. You went out of your way to ensure he understood what happened around him, you never answered his questions with anything other than patience, and more than once you had fiercely defended him against those who attempted to take advantage of his ignorance.
The things he experienced were just… better when you were the one helping him with them. Every time he learned something new, his first thought would be what your opinion on it was. He wanted you to show him everything you knew, wanted to do everything you did and learn why you did it. He rejoiced in every chance he got to find out something new about you and felt a need to always be somewhere in your vicinity.
You had stood out to him from the first moment he saw you. You had felt different than every other friend he had made so far, and he hadn't met anyone like you since. You had this serenity about you that drew him in, and your effortless beauty reminded him of the stars. He had quickly decided after meeting you that your name, while pretty, didn't encompass how amazing you were.
He had called you "Starlight" once in passing, and had stuck with it ever since.
This desire, this longing, was so new to him. He didn't understand; why did he have this need to be around you constantly? You made him feel things he had never felt before. His need to be close to you reached new heights every day, and the day the Guardians visited Terra for the first time was no different.
While it was nice to see Peter Quill again, learning about where you came from was the only thing Adam could focus on. To see what you first called home was magnificent. Adam wanted to know anything and everything you were willing to tell him about where you grew up, and as you gave him a tour of your childhood home, he was struck by two things.
The first was how beautiful everything on Terra seemed to be. It only made sense, he supposed, that someone as beautiful as you would come from somewhere as beautiful as this. The second, and slightly more puzzling thing was how at home he felt, despite being on a planet he had never visited before. This he solved by simply remembering who he was with. He didn't know why, but he had a feeling he would feel at home anywhere as long as you were there.
After you showed him everything you could think of, Adam decided it was his turn to show you his "world" - what he considered his first home.
It wasn't hard to convince you to allow him to take you somewhere you had never been, and Adam's heart swelled at your trust in him. When you had fully prepared yourself to go somewhere without oxygen, you turned to look at him expectantly. He had originally planned to drive one of their smaller ships to where he wanted to take you, but that urge to be close to you rose up again.
He scooped you up into his arms instead, and shot up towards the atmosphere, holding you close with one arm under your legs and the other around your back. At first he was worried you would be mad at him, but you responded exactly the way he wanted you to: by wrapping your arms tightly around his neck and hiding your face against his shoulder.
Adam hadn't even known it was possible for him to shiver, but when he felt your body shake against his as you let out a surprised and exhilarated laugh, he relished in the tremors it causes.
He didn't know what you were expecting as he flew you both towards the first place he had felt peace. It wasn't Sovereign, but he had a feeling that wouldn't surprise you. He waited with baited breath to see your reaction after whispering to you that you had reached your destination.
If you were surprised, you didn't show it. All Adam saw as he watched you take in the mesmerizing stars, planets, and moons he had brought you to see was pure, unadulterated awe. It seemed as if it was all you could do just to whisper, "it's beautiful." Adam murmured his agreement, though his eyes never once left your face.
He wondered if you felt the things he was feeling, what he always felt when he was around you. He wasn't sure how to ask; he didn't even know if he should. For a reason he couldn't explain, the thought of confessing his feelings to you made him nervous.
Still, being honest with you had never hurt him before. He had to at least try. When he landed back onto Knowhere soil, he turned to you, having built his courage on the journey back.
While he had sucked in a breath to start, to attempt to find some way to express himself to you, the air left his lungs the second you turned to look at him. He had chosen to carry you before because it brought you closer to him, but the sheer lack of distance between your faces hadn't hit him until your still awe-filled eyes had come to rest on his golden ones.
Suddenly, talking was a complete impossibility. Adam was positive you had never looked so radiant, hair tousled from your recently removed helmet and breathing still heavy from the adrenaline of flight. Adam was also positive that if he opened his mouth to speak, something horribly embarrassing would come out.
Luckily, knowingly or not, you saved him from the mortification of speech. You leaned forward to rest your forehead against his, and when Adam noticed the small smirk your mouth made when he gasped at the contact, he found himself unable to look away.
As quickly as you had stolen his ability to breathe, the sight of your lips completely consumed Adam's thoughts. He tilted his head ever so slightly, and when you leaned back to look up at him, he started to lean forward. He couldn't explain why, but as his gaze roamed your face, briefly meeting your eyes before returning to your mouth, all he could suddenly think about was wanting to…. Wanting to….
You caught on immediately, and raised a gentle hand to rest against his lips, stopping him. At his frustrated huff and furrowed eyebrows, your enticing mouth lifted again at the corners as you ducked down to meet his eyes.
"Adam, are you sure? Do you even know what you're trying to-"
"Starlight, please," his words are muffled against your fingertips, and he watched as the feel of his mouth moving against them visibly flustered you. "I can't explain why but I want… I need to know." He didn't know how to articulate what exactly he needed, but he didn't have to.
When you hesitantly lowered your hand and nodded, Adam wasted no more time, surging forward to press his lips against yours. It was a clumsy kiss at first, but as you slid your hands into his hair to guide him, a single thought, word, feeling seeped deep into his bones. Right. This felt right. More right than anything he had felt in his life.
The longing he had experienced since he met you seemed to finally release him with a sigh of relief, giving way to complete contentment. He smiled against your lips and pulled you closer, delighted by the gasp you gave him in response.
He didn't know how long you let him hold you, pressing kiss after kiss against your lips, trying to figure out exactly what he had to do to hear that little gasp again. It didn't matter. It hadn't been long enough to satisfy him.
He had wanted to pout when you finally pulled away, but the sight of your dazed eyes and parted, panting lips made up for the loss of what had immediately become the best thing he had ever experienced in his life. He mirrored your earlier action, resting his head against yours and closing his eyes.
"Thank you," his breaths were coming out in short puffs, but he found he didn't mind being out of breath if it was because of this. Because of you. He felt your forehead move against his as you shook your head, letting out a breathless chuckle in response to his gratitude.
"You are… unfairly good at that. You've never done that before?"
Adam shook his head no and smiled cheekily at how airy your voice was.
"Does that mean you'll let me do it some more?" He beamed when you nodded again and pulled you in for more kisses just as fast as the first time.
When you broke away for a second time, Adam decided he still needed more, wondering what other sounds you would give him if he kept going. He tilted his head to kiss down your jaw and along your throat, and he rejoiced when he was rewarded with more gasps and sighs. You tugged involuntarily at his golden hair when he mouthed at one of your collar bones, and he hummed against your skin in response.
He had memorized the way to his apartment in Knowhere long ago and thanked his previous self for bringing you back so close to it. He carried you through his front door, shutting it behind him with a light kick before settling on his couch. When he realized he couldn't kiss everywhere he wanted to, he decided you needed to be closer and, lifting you up easily, shifted you to straddle his thighs.
Your breathing had been getting steadily shallower, and at the feeling of his hands grasping at your hips to pull you closer, you couldn't handle any more. You grabbed his face with both hands and pulled him up to look at you, fighting hard to catch your breath.
"You can't…. You gotta give a girl a break sometimes. I'm gonna pass out at the rate you're going." Adam just shook his head and leaned in again, unable to resist pressing another kiss to your lips before speaking. His hands slid up from their place on your hips to wrap around to the small of your back as he muttered an apology against your mouth.
"I'm sorry, Starlight, I can't help it," he nudged your chin up with his nose so he could kiss along the soft skin underneath your jaw. "Why haven't we done this before? Why aren't people kissing all the time?"
You breathed out a quiet laugh before explaining.
"Well, it's kind of intimate, you know?" You paused to gasp as he ran his nose down your pulse to mouth at the place where your neck met your shoulder. He smiled when you shivered in response to his encouraging hum to continue.
"It's usually only for between folks with romantic feelings or-"
Adam stopped abruptly to raise his head and look at you, and he could tell it was taking a lot of your effort to not pull him back to you. If he hadn't been so curious, he would have been left dumbstruck again by your swollen lips and lidded, kiss drunk eyes, but he pressed forward, too interested in the words you had used.
"'romantic'... I don't recognize that word…"
You shook your head to get out of your daze, trying to get your brain to function enough to explain the concept to Adam.
He didn't know why, but he felt strangely proud that he was the one that had so thoroughly distracted you. Your beautiful mind was muddled because of him. His kisses on your neck as you sat on his lap and his hands touched you- what was happening to him?
He ignored his increasingly possessive thoughts, trying to pay attention as you attempted to find the right words to use.
"It means you want to spend all your time with someone, I guess, but more than just in the way a friend would. You think about them all the time, you find them nice to look at, you want to protect them from things," you paused to check with him, "is this making sense?"
Adam was nodding before you had finished the question. That was the feeling that had been plaguing him! He tilted his head to the side and watched you for a moment. He knew you were probably expecting more kisses, and while he already felt as iff he was going through withdrawal, he had a question he needed answering first.
"How do you tell someone about those feelings?" At that you shrugged, fighting to keep your focus while Adam gently ran his hands up and down your back.
"It depends. If the feelings are small then you should say something like,'I like you'," Adam immediately knew that didn't fit, "if it's all encompassing and groundbreaking, then you would say, 'I love you.'" Ah. That sounded right.
Adam mulled over his next move as he leaned in to plant light kisses on your cheeks and nose in thanks. His heart swelled at your giggle, and he made a decision. Love. Yes.
He leaned back again and did exactly as instructed.
"I love you."
His confession causes you to blink before giving him a sad smile, one Adam immediately wants to replace with something real.
"No, Adam, just because you like kissing me doesn't mean you-"
"I love you!" He interrupted you to say it again, this time more insistent. At your unconvinced face, his continues, listing every way his feelings for you fit your criteria.
"I have felt a… a pull towards you since I first saw you, and it gets stronger every day," you opened your mouth to argue, but Adam wouldn't have it.
"I want to be close to you all of the time, I can never stop thinking about you, you're the most beautiful thing I have ever had the gift of looking at and I would rather die than see you hurt," he cupped your face in his hands and met your eyes steadily. His tone made no room for argument.
"I love you."
"Adam…" While you still looked skeptical, he could tell his words getting through to you. He tried to go for another tactic.
"Do you know why I didn't fly us to Sovereign when I told you I was going to show you my world?" When you shake your head no, he continues, "it's because being in space, surrounded by the beauty and tranquility, was the only place I felt at home… until I met you. Now, when I think of home," his golden eyes glow with admiration, begging you to believe what he's telling you, "when I think of home, Starlight, all I see is you. I love you."
He could tell you were almost convinced, and you tilted your head to the side, eyes roaming his face. Adam figured you were probably trying to gauge if he fully understood the gravity of what he was confessing; you were always careful to only let him commit to something important if he was able to articulate its significance.
His little Starlight wouldn't let him rush into something he didn't understand. The last thing you wanted was to take advantage of him. He loved that about you. He watched you watch him for a while, trying to figure out what to do to prove his understanding, more than willing to indulge your protectiveness.
When he finally landed on a solution, he stood quickly with you still in his arms. Now that he had gotten a taste of you this close to him, he didn't know if he'd ever let you walk again.
Your surprised squeak was adorable, but it was the heady feeling of your legs wrapped around his waist and his hands gripping your thighs that he made a mental note to revisit later. What kind of sounds would you make if he pressed you up again his door? What about the wall...?
Adam shook his head to refocus himself. You would let him do all of that, he was sure of it, if he was only able to convince you that he loved you.
He walked with purpose through his apartment, past his small kitchen, straight into his bedroom. When he sat on the edge of the bed, he made sure you were comfortably seated on him before reaching past you to grab something he had been keeping on his bedside table for months.
He handed it over to you and watched you as you analyzed it, turning it around in your hands. It was a picture frame, and in it was a photo of you, smiling at whoever was behind the camera. You looked as if you were mid laugh, and the kaleidoscope of stars behind you gave you an almost ethereal glow.
Adam tapped a single golden finger against the frame, keeping his eyes on your face. "I have been keeping this by my bed ever since Drax told us about Ovette," you eyes snapped up to his at that, and he continued, "he had said he wished he had kept some kind of photo of her so he could see her face before he fell asleep and after he woke up. He said he wished he had looked at her, really looked at her, for longer, so that her face wouldn't be forgotten as easily."
He took the photo back gently and returned it to its rightful place on his nightstand before he turned to look back at you.
"When he was talking about how much he missed her, all I could think about was how devastated I would be if I never saw you again. If I forgot what you looked like. I didn't know what to call it, but even back then, I knew if there was someone who I would spend the rest of my life with, it was you."
Adam reached out and grabbed your hands, placing a kiss against each palm before resting with them in your lap. At first he was alarmed when he saw tears in your eyes, but then he noticed you were smiling, and continued, feeling his own eyes starting to well up too.
"I didn't say it just because I like kissing you, although I can already tell I could do that forever and love every second," you laughed and a tear escaped. Adam brushed it away with a brush of his thumb. "I'm saying it because from the moment I met you, I have longed to know you, where you came from, everything I could, just so I could talk to you better.
I'm saying it because you have become the one place I feel I truly belong." He ran his hands up your arms and shoulders to sink into your hair, bringing you close enough to nuzzle his nose against yours.
"I'm saying it because I have felt it, for months, and now I finally, finally have the words I need to express it. Starlight, with my entire body and soul, I. Love. You."
Adam loved to learn, and today he learned that his favorite sound in the whole universe was hearing his darling Starlight say, "I love you too."

A New Form Of Intimacy

Number 19: "you want to kiss me so bad."

Adam knew better than to trust Drax with relationship business, especially after what happened the last time.
But Drax was the only one he knew that had had a long-lasting, loving relationship and if Adam was with you, that’s what he wanted too.
“You two have never kissed?” Drax asked, clearly surprised by the fact. The whole situation came to when Adam asked Drax about his favorite moments with his late wife Ovette. One of the stories Drax told was a tale about their first kiss.
“Wait, so this whole time you two have been together then, what have you been doing?”
Adam’s golden eyes looked around for a moment before his hands interlocked in his lap, “not that it’s really any of your business…but we cuddle.”
Drax’s lips quivered and Adam watched as he barely tried to contain his laughter as he bellowed out, “ahahahaha!” He shouted, causing Adam to glance at Kraglin confused before going back to Drax.
Adam would continue to explain how he would place his head on your chest every time and he’d hear your precious heartbeats, and although Adam believed this would prove how affectionate you two are, it really only proved Drax’s point further.
“The cuddling is actually quite tender,” Adam would finish as Drax’s fit would seem to be nearing its end. At least that’s what it seemed, but of course he immediately continued again.
Adam scrunched his brows as he turned his attention to Kraglin who was staring at Drax with an irritated expression before he shook his head and directed his attention to Adam.
“While cuddling is…sweet, Drax is right. Kissing is much more intimate and enjoyable for couples as the relationship continues on.”
Adam turned to Kraglin, now curious about the man, “so you’ve experienced it too?”
Kraglin looked a little taken back by the question as Drax now looked at him curiously waiting for an answer as well.
“Not recently…but you’d be surprised by my past. I was quite the ladies man”
Adam looked at Drax who just closed his eyes and shook his head. But Adam’s arms waved as he tried to regain focus to the main discussion, “okay so a kiss, what is it exactly?” Although he was made to be perfect he wasn’t really made for relationships, his sole purpose was to be a warlock, but that of course changed after all that had happened.
Drax answered his question this time, “it’s when your lips meet their lips.” Kraglin nodded before adding, “you gotta make sure the mood is right first.”
Drax scrunched his face in disgust, “mood? Forget mood, I say just go for it.”
Great now a new problem was added upon everything, should he create a mood or just go for it. While Adam sat there, pondering on all the information provided Kraglin added on one more rule, “oh but the most important thing is the other person has to want it too.”
Drax nodded at that, and Adam was content for a moment that they at least agreed on that, but still, what was he to do?
On the other side of Knowhere, you were pretty lax at the moment, having finished helping out for the day. It wasn’t everyday that you found nothing to do on the planet and no doubt something would come up soon enough. But for now you were going to curl up and relax at least that’s what you thought before a knock on your door interrupted.
Curious you peeked at the window to see who it could be and recognizing it to be your loving partner you head straight for the door. It was strange though you thought he was busy today, but you weren’t really complaining.
“What are you doing here?” You asked, opening the door allowing him to enter. Your tone was joyful but that meant nothing at the moment as Adam was fixed on his own thoughts.
“I’m sorry, are you busy right now? I can come later,” the sentence made your eyebrows come together as you recalled he would be the busy one, “no, I just thought you had plans all day.”
“Oh, right, of course! We took a little break, but we’re practically done anyway.”
“Awesome,” you replied. It was then that you’d noticed that he’d been standing in the center of your quarters. Typically when he arrived he would go straight for your bed, either sitting to reveal to you the details of his day, if not your bed he’d sit on your countertop. But instead he was just standing there.
While you had been expressing clear confusion, Adam on the other hand had suddenly begun to realize he was feeling that feeling again.
It was the feeling he felt when he was first around you, as well as the same feeling he felt when he first confessed to you.
He was anxious and his body was tense as he suddenly realized going with Drax’s, just do it plan, might not have been the best idea. There was always time to change his mind, but yet here he was already standing in your quarters.
“Why are you just standing there? Take a seat,” you chuckled pointing towards your bed. Adam shook his head with a hard shake.
You stared at the man for a moment before letting out an understandably perplexed “…okay.”
But with that you walked back over to him and stood across from him examining his face, “are you sure you’re okay? You’re acting strange.”
Adam stood there not even knowing how to even bring the topic up, he wondered if maybe he should set the mood like Kraglin suggested but then he shook his head getting rid of the idea again. He hated this feeling of being choked up, of course it only happens around you though.
You were beginning to get nervous now, whatever it was, clearly it was big if it had made him practically stuck in place. Whatever it was it seemed hard for him to express and you wanted to show him that you would be there for him no matter what. Because of that thought you raised a hand to cup his face, “hey whatever it is just tell me. It’ll be fine, you’ve got this.”
Adam leaned into your touch before releasing a breath that he had been holding. He decided he was just going to tell you everything.
“I talked to Drax and Kraglin and they believe kissing is essential in relationships and that we should be kissing.”
“Oh,” is what you let out, not expecting that at all.
Adam continued though, “they explained to me how intimate it is and now I feel like we should be kissing just as others do.”
“Oh,” you repeated, now curious about that idea.
“Is it true that Terran couples kiss?”
“It is.”
Adam’s golden eyes shifted to the floor while a crease formed between his eyebrows while he stood there.
He looked so troubled with the thought, this is why you haven’t brought it up. Frankly there have been moments where you wanted to grab his face and push your lips to his but you knew he came out of development earlier than he was supposed to, what if he wasn’t ready for this? You reached down, taking both his hands while gaining his focus with his expression shifting into a more relaxed one.
“But Adam we don’t have to listen to Drax or Kraglin, we don’t have to do it right now, every couple is different. We can take all the time you need.”
“Right of course.”
You two stayed there in the center of your room hand in hand gazing at each other. But Adam’s relaxed expression shifted once again, returning to an unsettled expression with his lips pressed together. His eyes dropped down to your hands as he squeezed them, his hands warm as he did so, and you noticed as his cheeks darkened.
You seemed to understand that notion.
“You want to kiss me so bad, don’t you?”
“So bad!” He breathed out, content that you knew him so well.
You let out a laugh, nodding your head, “okay then, if you’re ready so am I…you go.” You direct, feeling it only made sense since he was the one to bring it up. But Adam pointed to himself, his eyes widening, “me?”
“Yes you, who else?”
“Right of course,” he said shaking his head, his golden locks coming a little out of place.
You stood still waiting for the moment and Adam’s eyes gazed down to your lips, as if calculating how he was going to do this. After a moment of hesitation he leaned and as gentle as possible he connected to your lips.
You both stood there with no movement, just two lips pushed together. It was too short for you to react, because Adam quickly separated with an unsure expression on his face, “…Kraglin was right that is very intimate.”
“Yeah it is,” you added, plastering a smile that the golden boy quickly caught on to.
“What’s wrong?…Was it not good?”
His expressions ran hurt, as his eyes widened into that puppy dog look that he seemed to emulate so well.
“No. It was fine, it's just…here let me try something.”
Adam eyed you peculiarly as your hands reached up against his cheeks. Softly you brought his face down to yours and once again met his lips. As you did so your eyelids naturally closed and Adam followed. Your mouth interlocked with his perfectly and he followed your lead, moving his lips just as you were.
For a moment your hands briefly left his face as they went to land on his shoulders and began slowly trailing down them. You trailed his arms all the way to his hands that you considered quite delicate despite all the fighting that he’s done.
You guided his hands, placing them on your waist and then leaving them there to return back to his face. His hands held your waist so gently, as if you were fragile.
Together you stayed like that, matching each other's touch, not wanting the moment to end.
But of course it had to.
You gently pushed his chest separating from him and he looked at you curiously, “did I mess up again?”
You shook your head assuring he was fine, “no, you were perfect I just need some air,” you said, collecting your breaths.
It was at that moment that you realized that Adam could definitely hold his breath far longer than you could.
Adam watched until you collected yourself, before he leaned close again, only mere centimeters from your lips as if waiting for permission and all you could say while a smile appeared on your face again was, “what have I done?”
His golden lips captured yours for a moment before you split again, unable to stop that foolish grin that wouldn’t leave your face, “I’ve created a monster,” you added as he once again took your lips with his.
Bonus:
Adam is seen by Drax and Kraglin walking with his mind clearly in a daze as he passes with his steps light, practically bouncing with each step.
Kraglin turned to Drax, “we did that.”
Drax looked at Kraglin then turned around looking the complete opposite direction first before turning back, “did what?”
Kraglin motioned to where Adam was, “that! They’ve clearly kissed.”
Drax peered at Adam whose figure was in the distance now before turning back to Kraglin, “no, I don’t think so.”
“What? Are you kidding?! Did you see how happy he was?”
Drax shrugged, “I don’t think so.” He repeated leaving Kraglin flabbergasted.

Plushie
Adam Warlock x Reader
Plot: You see one of the new Guardians struggling to adjust and decide to surprise him with a new friend.
Genre: PG-13, FLUFF
A/N: Yeah I'm on a roll on this cinnamon roll. I take no arguments. If you enjoy it, please reblog, comment, and spread it!
Tumblr media
You step off the ship, holding the wrapped gift. You really hoped he liked it.
Moving through the crowd, you see Groot playing a game on the Gameboy that was gifted by Peter.
"Hey Groot, know where I can find Adam?"
The tree gives a grunt, not looking up from the game. Groot points in the opposite direction and you continue to be on your way.
You find Adam in what used to be Peter's old room. He sees you and sits up quickly on his bed, as if it was a crime to be resting.
"You don't have to do that, Adam. This is your room now." You sit beside him. "How is everyone treating you?"
He tells you about his team. Rocket, despite how grumpy he could be, was an excellent leader on and off the field. Kraglin was always happy to help Adam navigate unfamiliar things (and recommend some great music). Although he was still mourning the loss of his mother, taking on the role of a bigger brother for Phyla was something that he needed to step out of his comfort zone.
"I'm still trying to understand Groot," Adam frowns. "Rocket says I'll get there."
You feel a furry being rubbing at your ankles. Adam picks up Blurp and puts it on his lap. "I didn't forget you silly," he addresses the affectionate pet. "Though I must admit, I miss home sometimes. I'm thankful for the kindness that everyone has shown me, but I believe I feel... overwhelmed at times?"
You nod empathetically, deciding it is an excellent time to give Adam your gift. He's momentarily stunned but grateful for the pleasant surprise. Unwrapping the gift, he holds a stuffed pink and round octopus plushie.
Tumblr media
"This is a stuffed toy," you begin to explain. "To be exact, it's a stuffed octopus - a marine animal on Earth that you may have heard of. Back on Earth, not just kids have them but adults do too." As you went on, you wondered if this was a good idea. You couldn't decipher Adam's look as he carefully scanned the plushie. "I have one with me when I go to sleep," you confessed. "I know things can get hard, and sometimes all you need is a comforting presence."
You watched as Adam presses the round edges of the toy, examining its unusually short legs. He shifts to face you and hugs the toy in his arms.
"I like how this creature is making me feel," Adam says as the toy sinks further into his body. "Thank you for the wonderful gift."
"Glad to be of service." As you stand to leave, Adam calls you from behind and approaches you at the door.
"Yes, Adam?"
"Well, I was wondering... if you could take me to get one more for Blurp?" He shifts nervously while waiting for your response. "I mean I haven't gotten a chance to see Earth - your Earth."
You smile and nod much to his relief. "I would like that very much. How does tomorrow sound?"
"Perfect."

Food Not For The Fainthearted
Tumblr media
Adam Warlock x reader
Words: 1378
Tumblr media
“Okay sit down, but keep your eyes shut,” Adam instructed as he placed you in front of a chair.
Your smile deepened as he did so, clear excitement audible in his words.
Adam has only been on this skull planet for a year now but he hadn’t really made a true friend on this planet until a couple months in when he met you. You made him feel welcomed here. With you he wasn’t at all embarrassed or fearful that you would judge him if he didn’t know a common thing, being that he was only taken out of his pod recently.
One of the things he enjoyed about you was that you truly took the time to explain things to him and then let him analyze things. One of the things he explored with you was food. Now of course Adam knew what food was and its purpose. He just wasn’t aware there was such a variety of sustenance. With you he discovered his likes, dislikes, how to mix some foods together in recipes, it was truly all new to him. But after some time he gained the hang of it.
He was so grateful towards you, which is why he wanted to express his thanks. And he thought, what better way than to cook you a meal. Which is what brought you to where you are now, sitting in front of a meal with your eyes closed. He had no help from you and didn’t even give you a hint as to what the meal was, clearly wanting the dish to remain a surprise…until now.
“Okay open your eyes,” he encouraged and as soon as your lids opened, (after blinking at the sudden light), they shifted downwards towards the plate placed in front of you.
“Chicken stir fry?!” You asked not expecting this type of dish.
“Not just any chicken stir fry. Spicy chicken stir fry,” he corrected, proudly. At the mention of that the crinkle around your eyes relaxed while you tried to keep your smile on display, “oh wow, spicy chicken stir fry…” you repeated.
Yes, you and Adam had tried different foods together and you were the one to introduce him to different spices and such but it seems that he didn’t notice how you never actually ate any of the spicy foods. It wasn’t the fact that you just didn’t like it, it was more of the fact that some of the spicy items would inflame your taste buds which just wasn’t exactly your favorite feeling in the world.
But were you going to tell this poor man who looked just so eager for you to try the first dish he’s ever made? Of course not.
“It looks appetizing,” you stated, which was the truth.
“Thanks, I can't wait for you to try it.”
After making sure you had a glass of water sitting beside you, you stuck the utensil into the dish making sure you got enough. Lifting up the portion you smiled at Adam who was watching you eagerly. And with that final glance you put the portion in your mouth.
It took all of your acting skills, (which wasn’t exactly the best), to give a smile and pretend it was all okay. Granted the food was delicious but you could already feel the heat sticking to the back of our throat.
“Mmm, delicious,” you said, mouth hiding behind your hand as the food just hovered in your mouth. Adam grinned widely as he looked down to take his spoonful. In the split second that he does you're already breathing out hot air, trying to do so subtly.
Obviously there’s no real way of breathing out subtly and Adam picked his gaze back up, looking at you questionably.
You waved your hand at him, “it’s just a little hot.”
“Oh, yeah I added extra sauce cause I really liked the kick it offered when we tried it awhile ago.”
Your eyes widened at the word extra before you composed yourself, “yup that explains it.” You could practically feel the taste buds on the tip of your tongue starting to appear bumpy, while your nose felt as if it had begun to run.
Placing your utensil down you take a sip of water, which of course barely helps, if it does at all. Setting the cup down you mentally give yourself a pep talk, he went to all this effort to make you a meal.
You got your utensil ready taking one more small amount in, of course this just causes more damage to the scene. Quickly swallowing the food, figuring that was better than spitting it out you then grabbed the water before gulping it down leaving just about less than half.
It was when you placed it down and met Adam’s eyes that you realized just how crazy you probably looked.
“Are you okay?” He asked, looking concerned.
You debated for a split second if you should just tell him the truth or pretend everything was okay. You didn’t want to crush his feelings but you didn’t want to burn yourself as well.
You placed your utensil down, a little more aggressively than you expected, but you blame that on the burning sensation, “Adam this meal is delicious. It’s beautiful, so well put together, I love it.”
His body physically perks up at your words, his shoulders straightening out.
“But my body just doesn’t get along well with spicy foods.”
Judging from the expression that overcame his face this seemed like news to him, “what do you mean? We’ve had spicy foods together.”
“Yes…but no,” his eyes looked up in thought clearly trying to recall that day while you continued, “when we tried spicy foods, you ate all the food, I just sort of recommended and watched.”
Adam’s jaw dropped.
“Oh that’s just terrible.”
“It’s fine,” you coughed out, throat hot, “it’s still delicious.”
“No, not the food. The fact that you are always being so kind to me, teaching me my likes and dislikes, and I clearly haven’t been paying any attention to you!”
“Oh please Adam…” you tried to brush off it wasn’t really a big deal.
“No it’s true. I don’t know your likes, your dislikes, I don’t even know you!”
“You know me—“
Adam’s eyes turned into an intense shade of yellow before they practically lasered your plate into dust.
“How dumb must I be that I didn’t even notice you don’t like spicy food!”
Apparently this was hitting him a lot harder than you expected.
“That’s it…” you pushed your napkin to the side as you slammed your hands on the table standing up while you did so. That caused his own tantrum to pause.
“You are not dumb! The fact that you say that infuriates me! You were just excited in trying new tastes that’s all.”
It wasn’t much but that seemed to do the trick as his next words seemed less angry and more disappointed, “I’m just upset because I want to know you. I want to know your likes and dislikes. This whole time I thought we were getting closer but you’ve just been getting closer while I’ve been standing in the same exact spot.”
You hadn’t realized he felt so deeply about this—about you in that way. Maybe he wasn’t the only one who hadn’t noticed things.
“Just cause you don’t know my likes doesn’t mean you don’t know me. You know me Adam…” he still looked dejected, obviously upset about his lack of awareness. “Okay look, you can start learning things about me right now. Better late than never right?”
Adam pondered this over. “Plus you just found out something I don’t like, spicy food!”
His head shifted from side to side mulling this over before ultimately agreeing, “…okay,” he said, a sly smile sneaking its way onto his face.
“There we go, now that's a better attitude,” you grinned before your eyebrows pushed together suddenly focused on the burnt ash on the table. “I know you were upset but you didn’t have to go and burn the food you’ve made, it was still delicious.”
Adam’s smile turned into a more bashful one, “yeah it was a bit dramatic…But come on, let me make you something you will like.”

Adam, slowly smiling: Please ask me to kill for you.
You, sweating: ...First of all, calm down-
