So many posts about femininity seem to focus on being poised and elegant and pulled together all the time and I'm over it. You can be feminine and messy, or loud, or chaotic. You don't need to be in a full face of makeup, a designer dress and heels all the time to be feminine.
You get to decide what femininity means for you and act accordingly.
“Breathe. You’re going to be okay. Breathe and remember that you’ve been in this place before. You’ve been this uncomfortable and anxious and scared, and you’ve survived. Breathe and know that you can survive this too. These feelings can’t break you. They’re painful and debilitating, but you can sit with them and eventually, they will pass. Maybe not immediately, but sometime soon, they are going to fade and when they do, you’ll look back at this moment and laugh for having doubted your resilience. I know it feels unbearable right now, but keep breathing, again and again. This will pass. I promise it will pass.”
i just want to reiterate what a privilege it is to love women. in a world that actively looks down on wlw, i literally just don't give a shit because women are worth whatever backlash you get from the mainstream. women are kind and soft and pretty and do some of the most emotionally taxing work while taking it in stride. even when they struggle there is just some innate strength to it because being a woman is already hard without added stressors. queer women and trans women, women of color, etc are just walking fucking wonders and i love them so fucking much. and no religious establishment or some crusty old conservative 'value' is gonna make me not love them.
This video really speaks on how confidence in our society and in mainstream media is so false. I didn’t realize certain things until watching this and it made me feel a lot better about myself and my struggles with self esteem issues.
Remember to still be kind to yourself despite the fact that you may not be where you want to be in life right now. You will get there. It’s a bittersweet thing to accept who you are as a whole. But, if you are one way at this moment, that does not mean you are meant to be that way for the rest of your life <3.
