I did my second shot of T today, and it went so well. I recorded it as a keepsake and shared the video with a couple of close friends. My dysphoria has been way better this week, and I'm just happy and excited to be doing this finally. It feels like the perfect time.

The first of the month is always a good time to make a new start. Any time is, but it seems like we tend to like starting at the beginning of things (ie. the new year). I'm not really a fan of new year resolutions, mostly because they tend to breed guilt and shame, and neither of those things are useful for actually achieving goals, especially the sort of long term ones people put little thought into at the very beginning of the year (this is just an aside).

Regardless, I do think having a useful date to mark a time of beginning is good. It makes for a helpful prompt to begin many things. A new year, a new season, a new month, a new lunar cycle, a new week, a new day, a new hour (how many of us wait for the hour to turn over to begin a task we've been putting off?).

So here we are at a new month. The old month has died. Time to let go of anything that need to be let go, grieve the things lost, and begin again and again and again and again.

#August is so good at feeling like the death of summer #'the hottest month of the year' #but also the air changes and tells you what's coming

#48 to 72 hours #i can't shower every day #that would suck and dry me out #so it's every other day if i'm on top of it #sometimes every 72 hours if i'm feeling a bit lazy #i voted 72 because it is the longest regular interval #but really i prefer 48 when possible #even that dries me out too much sometimes though

i think that every child should have unrestricted access to thick blackberry brambles or some other delicious fruit that grows encased in a painful fortress. i think wading through thorns to reach the cluster of shining ripe berries you spied through a gap between the tangled vines teaches you something important. not sure what though

What is it about fics then, where characters always, ALWAYS, have a spare toothbrush conveniently just hanging about in bathroom cupboards for that time someone is, usually unexpectedly, staying the night?

I have lived a few decades now, and I have never known anyone who keeps spare toothbrushes. Is it really common??
