Dear Readers,

As you know, I am a woman of integrity and honourable reporting. I scout the many countries that make up our world, gathering for you the most interesting and important news stories, as well as the newest recipes. However hard the journey, however strange the facts, however odd the food, I always make sure you know what’s going on. That is what I aim to do again today, though I’m afraid this report will be more of a mystery than usual.

Why? There have been reports of a strange person travelling from world to world. Eagle-eyed readers might have noticed the giant, purple dragon that’s been crossing our skies recently. His name is Dragaux. While high above he looks harmless, he is anything but. This villain has terrorized every country he’s passed through, causing chaos and destruction at every turn. He even fought and defeated the four grand masters! However, he, in turn, has been thwarted by this stranger. This hero.

It is a relief to know that our world is apparently in capable, though it is also alarming to discover that we were in danger at all! This hero goes above and beyond just stopping Dragaux. They go from town to town, helping villagers along the way. There are many eye-witnesses to this hero’s generosity who have stepped forward with stories of this stranger’s various acts of kindness. This person has fought off monsters, gathered recipe ingredients, cleared boulders, and more.

You might be wondering what’s so strange about this about this (aside from the apparent threat to our world). Plenty of villagers are generous to others. However, our stranger here carries many secrets. I can’t even come up with a basic description of our hero, despite interviewing dozens upon dozens of first-hand witnesses. Each person has given me a different gender, body type, or even fitness level. It is an oddity that I can only assume is magical, in order to protect our hero’s identity from evil.

Hubby and Honey, the famous globe-trotting retailers, have confirmed multiple interactions with this hero, so I started my search for answers with them. This pair of sweethearts sell smoothies, sportswear, and other health-related items. Perhaps our mysterious hero needed their goods?

Hubby looked troubled when I interviewed him, reliving the many troubles he’d been through recently. “It’s just that Honey always needs these hard-to-find ingredients, and they’re always surrounded by m-m-m-monsters.” He wiped his sweaty forward, his hand trembling from the memory. “Oh, but then she helped out! She fought off all the monsters, and even helped me find the way home.”

“She?” I questioned, trying to grab the faintest scrap of information.

“Oh, I don’t really kn-know her name.” Hubby offered me an apologetic smile. “I-I should ask, but she’s a great customer and…It, well, feels rude, you know? To ask after all this t-time. She really loves my smoothies, too. It’d j-just be awkward.”

Well, I couldn’t deny that. It was awkward to ask someone’s name after knowing them for so long. I turned to Honey, who was neatly displaying the latest sports gear she’d acquired. “What about you?”

“Me?” Honey blinked slowly and tapped her cheek. “Oh, well, they are great customers, always buying up all my stock.” She held up a pair of sneakers and smiled at me. “If you want these, you’ll have to get them now.”

I averted my eyes. Dear readers, as you might remember from previous articles, I’m not particularly athletic, and the very thought of me running is laughable. Whether or not Honey knew that, she was certainly doing her best to sell her merchandise. Clearing my throat, I latched onto the singular detail she gave me. “They?”

“Yep, they will certainly buy these too, if you don’t. They’ve bought all of my goods and cleared out Hubby’s drinks.” She smiled mysteriously, not answering my question. “I have other colours, if you don’t like these.”

In the end, the only thing I learned from the couple was something I already knew: Honey is a great saleswoman. I now have a closet full of sportswear which I’m not going to use. Luckily, Hubby and Honey weren’t my only leads. In Sporta, many of the villagers are grateful to this hero’s help, though none so much as the Sportan Commander. When I found him, he was briskly jogging with his weary cadets.

“AH! TINY!” The commander chuckled, shaking his head. “No, I agreed to stop calling him that. Oh, but he was a strong one. Bulging muscles, endless stamina, excellent flexibility. AN HONOURY SPORTAN IF I SAW ONE.”

The commander has an unfortunate habit of alternating between shouting and talking. Should I ever talk to him again, I’m going to wear my earplugs. When I asked what specifically the hero did, he yelled about clearing paths and braving rapids.

The cadets behind him nodded their agreement. A scrawny boy added, “Yeah, they were surprisingly strong. I thought they’d be just as weak as me. Maybe they eat a lot of spinach.”

“I thought she’d be as scared as me,” a nervous girl added, her hands clasped as she stared across the nearby rapids to the stadium in the distance. “That’s such a long journey, and she somehow made it there. Is there a recipe that fights fear? I’ll ask if she ever comes back.”

“That’s ‘cause he’s a true Sportan. UNLIKE YOU SORRY LOT,” the commander interjected, glaring at them. “Food doesn’t make you brave. NOW LET’S RUN.”

With just these two groups of witnesses, you can see the issues I had piecing together a picture of this hero. I don’t even know their name! Every person I talk to has a different view of what this person looks like, acts like, talks like. For example, an old man who really wanted apple smoothies talked about how this young man helped him out, running the distance that he couldn’t. A child boasted about how he’s a rival with an old woman and that they constantly compete at different gyms. I’m starting to wonder if there’s just a team of heroes running about, but there’s no way something that big could remain secret.

Old or young, fit or not, this hero has managed to do a lot of things in the span of weeks. While no one can agree on any description of them, there are a few basic details accepted as fact: the stranger is kind, they persevere, and they manage to do the impossible. They have cleared paths of monsters, oversized boulders, and other strange messes that tend to crop up from time to time. Interestingly, they are also a foodie, having mastered countless recipes and given out free samples to anyone who asks. Where they find the money to buy Honey’s merchandise and stock up on food like that, I have no idea. Most importantly, this person has fearlessly fought Dragaux time and time again. Somehow, they even managed to defeat the four Grand Masters, a feat that I had long thought impossible. Maybe they have a secret recipe that allows them to conquer the unconquerable. It’s something I think all of us could use. I only hope it tastes good.

I would like to interview them one day to find out why they are doing this. Do they have something to prove? Are they just that kind? Maybe they get something out of it, something that we’ve overlooked. Unfortunately, it’s hard to pinpoint their location. No one knows where they’ll go next, only that it will be to some other country in dire need of assistance. I would have an easier time following Dragaux to find them, because at least everyone knows where he is.

Now that I think about it, that’s a great idea. Maybe I can get an interview out of it, too—Dragaux’s training tips. With the muscles he has, he’s bound to have a few good suggestions. Anyways, that’s all for today’s article! I apologize that it wasn’t too substantive; it is just so hard to find information about this mysterious person. Hopefully my next article will reveal the truth to all these mysteries.
