About 20 years ago I saw a black and white photograph of a helmet from the Mycenaean period. I thought it was a stone or ceramic model of a helmet. There is a similar model of a cuirass with pauldrons from Knossos I think. A few weeks ago I accidentally came across a color photograph of this helmet. It turned out that it was a real helmet. I realized this when I noticed the holes for attaching the liner. This was not visible in the old photograph.Still, color photographs are sometimes useful.
