Beyoncé’s “visual album” Lemonade was released a year ago this week, but its impact continues to unfold. Just last week, the project won a Peabody Award. But the singer is also focusing on making its resonance felt through a very different vehicle: a group of scholarships called the “Formation Scholars” awards.

Fun fact: I'm actually quite homely without makeup and I have the terrible habit of skin picking so over the years I've developed a love for the shit. This photo shows before and after as well as the makeup used. This is the makeup I always have on hand in case I didn't have time before leaving to do it, or I just need to freshen up. I actually didn't use everything in the picture, I carry 3 lip things with me at all times (don't ask me why) so I just used the baby lips Chapstick. Though my appreciation for makeup developed out of insecurity, I'm finding myself increasingly enjoying the process and eager to learn new tricks. I'm not sure if it's because it is a control thing or what, but I know my former tomboy self is fake-retching somewhere. Sometimes I toy around with the idea of becoming a beauty blogger, not because I find myself beautiful and an authority on all things pretty, but because I feel that other women out there may benefit from my experience as a skin picker. Skin picking (excoriation disorder for those interested in the proper technical term) is what started me on this journey, and I find it both inspiring and ironic that I've found a way to feel beautiful in my skin despite this habit that works to destroy it. I have a huge assortment of makeup, a lot of which I either don't use at all or don't use on a regular basis. This is not simply because I have a shopping problem (this is debatable), but more so because I am constantly on the hunt for the perfect products that won't make my skin breakout, and yet are still powerful enough to cover the breakouts / self-inflicted damage without having to cake on pounds of the shit. Even with experimenting I still try to keep my look as natural as possible: I don't necessarily like advertising the fact that I wear makeup on a pretty much daily basis--I'd like people to believe I'm more confident in myself than that. I'm still working towards getting to a point where I won't feel the need to wear makeup whenever I leave the house. I'm certain I will get there, but for now I'll take baby steps like exposing my ugly, naked face to the tumblrverse. Products used: Revlon New Complexion One-Step Compact Make Up in Ivory Beige TréStique Baby Blush Stick in Bora Bora Coral Nicka K. New York Quad Eye Shadow in Sierra (NY075) Flower Eye 2 Eye Eye Marker and Volumizing Mascara Baby Lips Dr. Rescue Chapstick

“I didn’t start publishing Pennsylvania’s Orange Street News so that people would think I’m cute. I want to get the truth to people, even if it makes grownups mad,” says 9-year-old Hilde Kate Lysiak, publisher of and reporter for the Orange Street News.
After reporting on a suspected homicide in Selinsgrove, Pa., Hilde was harassed by “disgusted” adults commenting on her site, saying her time would be better spent at tea parties and playing with dolls.
Hilde has something to say, and she takes no prisoners, firing back at her aging critics, with a video and in her column for the Guardian.

i really love our generation’s joke trend of like, very calm but incredibly inflated hyperbole. like nobody says “oh she’s pretty” anymore we say “i would willingly let her murder me” and everyone is just like “lol same”
i think “same” is also great and “me,” i love when somebody reblogs a picture of like, a lizard, and just says “me” and we all know exactly what they mean. the current online Humor Discourse is remarkable because we trade exclusively in metaphors and implications and nobody ever, ever says anything outright and yet EVERYBODY understands each other perfectly
