Parkway Drive - Horizons
(2017 Epitaph Reissue)
So. This bad boy has been on and off my turntable non stop for the last couple of months. Less so in the last couple of weeks because I’m going back into my DEATH phase but this has been a big album for me alongside Killing With A Smile. I adore the vocals and the melodic riffs. Parkway Drive have always been super awesome at creating breakdowns without them feeling forced or unneeded, they are versatile with their guitar techniques and are able create some really cool hooks that stick in your head. They’re an amazing band actually and I’m happy I have some of them in my collection 🤘

Gojira - The Link
(2016 Listenable Records Gold Limited Edition to 1000 copies)
Gojira. Legendary band. The definition of innovative. I adore the whole prog death metal vibe Gojira give off with the quickly changing tempos and weird styles shoved in. My favourite songs off this album are “Death Of Me” and “Remembrance”. I love how weird the riff is in Death Of Me, it gets in my head so bad. I don’t think I like this album as much as Terra Incognita but it is still a wonderful listen. These reissue pressings have really great sound as well. Just From Mars To Sirius and L'Enfant Sauvage left to get now 🤘

Parkway Drive - Killing With A Smile
(2015 Epitaph Records Reissue)
In my opinion. This is arguably the best metalcore album ever released. I feel like every song is fantastic. Melodic riffs are in abundance throughout the record mixed with absolutely filthy breakdowns. Whatever you think of the sub-genre metalcore, this is a fantastic album and a very complex album to play. I adore the fact it is produced and engineered by one of my musical idols, guitar legend Adam Dutkiewicz! 🤘

Boston - Don’t Look Back
(1978 Epic Original Pressing)
After obsessing over the debut, the legendary self titled BOSTON, I was slightly anxious to listen to the follow up to be honest. At first, I was dissapointed, but the more I’ve listened, the more I have come to love this album. I love the opening track and it’s classic Boston guitar intro. My favourite on the album has to be A Man I’ll Never Be. It’s grown on me so much, whereas the title track was an instant hit, this took a few tries. I really like Feelin’ Satisfied as well, especially when the lyrics “oooo are you feelin’ satisfied” are sung. Overall a great rock album. Great band. I can’t quite get into Third Stage as much but I’m gonna give it, it’s time of day and maybe post about it in the future. Overall though, this is a fantastic record and you can pick it up dirt cheap. Almost criminal to not have it in your collection!

Witchcraft - Firewood
(2012 Rise Above Records Limited Reissue)
First thing to say about Witchcraft is that they are criminally underrated! Absolutely brilliant band and have been for around 15 years or so but I very rarely see them on here or receiving credit! Anyway, to the music! I love it, bluesy, with that heavy doomy guitar with, what I believe, is a fantastic voice (awesome live too). They have this way of taking you to another world, they do this very well on “Sorrow Evoker” with the introduction of different instruments. They are a tight band, brilliant riffs that are catchy but also heavy at times. I’m really happy I managed to spot this for a good price as well, super happy to add it to the precious collection. I adore the whole doom metal, stoner rock kinda genre group. There’s some fantastic stuff in there that should be a lot bigger than they are, like The Sword or Corrosion Of Conformity, top class bands 🤘

The Black Dahlia Murder - Nightbringers
(2017 Metal Blade Records Original Pressing)
I feel TBDM are probably one of the most consistent extreme metal bands around. Going for around 2 decades now and they’re still releasing crushing music with that melodic and technical feel to it. Brilliant stuff, “Nightbringers’ the track itself is one of the best tracks they’ve ever created. I feel this album really stands up tall with the greats of their discography. Picked this up the same time as Trivium’s The Sin And The Sentence from HMV for £15.99. Was not disappointed at all! 🤘

Why do you take pictures of the non coloured vinyl
I adore the look of all records. Black, colour, splatter. I post albums not just for their record but for the album itself and I like to include the picture of the record for the labels and purely because that is the version from my personal collection.

Amon Amarth - The Avenger
(2017 Metal Blade Records Reissue)
Surprisingly, after getting into ‘Once Sent From The Golden Halls’ I couldn’t get into this album! Not sure how as they are pretty similar in style, however I thought OSFTGH was pretty much flawless and you know that feeling where you move onto something new, you kinda subconsciously compare it. Anyway, TO THE ALBUM! Starting off with 'Bleed For Ancient Gods’. Amazing track. Melodic and brutal, one of my faves off the album. And then 'Last With Pagan Blood’! I kinda couple those together, brilliant songs. 'North Sea Storm’ changes the tempo a bit, or the style at least. Good song, not my favourite. Next to 'Avenger’ which I adore, possibly my favourite off the album. I feel the start has the amon amarth title track feel to it off of OSFTGH with that eery guitar. The second side carries on the brutality from the first with tracks like 'God, His Son & Holy Whore’ and 'Legend Of A Banished Man’. 'Metalwrath’ just gets me pumped and patriotic to Heavy Metal! The bonus track adds a really brutal ending which is really fucking cool! 🤘

Iron Maiden - Piece Of Mind
(2014 Parlophone Reissue)
One of the greatest albums ever. ‘Where Eagles Dare’, one of my favourite Maiden songs is one incredible opener for an album. Each song is amazing, ranging from the opener to 'The Trooper’ to 'To Tame A Land’! Dickinson’s voice is beyond brilliant in this album. All instruments are tight and you just get this vibe of the band being a really strong unit. A landmark album in the history of metal for sure 🤘
