Alia is a tragic character and Children of Dune is sad when it’s not really confusing and contradictory but [spoilers] the idea that of ALL HER ANCESTORS throughout time, including Agamemnon, Vladimir Harkonnen would win the brain wrestling contest to subdue the others and possess her? Against how many generations of Bene Gesserit grandmothers? I do not believe this. We met him. We listened to his monologues. He thinks bees systematically conquer rabbits. He could not do that.

AU where Alia succumbs to abomination under the influence of a particularly strong-willed simian grandmother and just gets really enthusiastic about fresh fruits and social grooming.

#prev you're the best #anyway though children of dune is the only book that makes me cry #i just really like alia and of all the characters to have a tragic downfall it kills me that its her #when leto tells jessica to forgive her (or maybe he says pity her i don't quite remember) it breaks me a little #compared to other tragic heroes in the series like paul her downfall is pretty bleak #children of dune is really good (other than the inevitable stupid parts) and really sad and if you liked the first book #but have heard bad things about the sequels #i recommend reading 2 and 3 even if you stop after that #anyway #anyway alia is the best character in anything ever and i love her and she never did anything wrong
