Hey Hey. Been a while...

Made this little mashup back in October for TR2013 Month, you can tell I love me some AOD by now right?

I don’t personally connect with Reboot Lara. Which can be seen as quite controversial to say in the TR fandom. Don’t get me wrong, there’s elements I enjoy about the Reboot series. It’s just such a departure from the Lara I grew up with, she’s just not my Lara...

Well to end on a high note rather than a dud, Chris a.k.a Raidercast was kind enough to feature these on his IG. Which was a lovely compliment. So Kudos to him.

Happy Halloween Tumblr! It’s been a while...

Thought I’d be good and share my Halloween render on all my socials - as once the days gone, its gone 😂

I originally wanted Reboot Lara in a sack suspended over a cauldron for a laugh but the model was unavailable. I then thought why don’t I use the blood covered model to look like Carrie, but NO, that model was also unavailable. So it didn’t really work out for me in that regard. Sorry for the pointless monologue...  Anyways I hope you’ve enjoyed and/or enjoying your Halloween!

LAU But It’s AOD

Well the Tomb Raider celebrations continue into Underworld month, and I’m still rendering (shock horror!)… 😂

Anyways here are some renders I made, an AOD/LAU mashup, a sort of “what if” if you will. I Kind of wanted to see what AOD would look like in LAU get up and I’m rather liking the results.

I’m going to continue to create more, a sort of what I’d think AOD Lara would wear as a “What if” series. Anyway a girl can never have to many outfits, can she? 😏

Legend

Although Core’s Lara holds the key to my heart, I do have a special place for LAU Lara there as well. 

Legend was a big part of my childhood, I can still remember the day I came home from school with the game on my bed. I was so excited to play! 

At that age I wasn’t aware of the switch of studios or the reasonings why, but one thing for sure is that I loved Legend. Lara was a breeze to control and I found the gameplay fun, although looking back now it’s very linear, but it was definitely child friendly. 

I also loved Keeley Hawes’ rendition of Lara, I’ve always loved her voice and pretty much every drama she’s in. 

Anyways I shut up with the ramblings on....

Here’s my contribution to TR25 Legend month. I wanted to do a render for each level but didn’t have the time.

Kurtis & his Chigurai

Simple render I made for Tomb Raider AOD month celebration of Kurtis. I still love his character model today after 18 years. 

I was very happy to see the love Angel of Darkness received last month for the celebration, not that it needs just one month, the fact that after all this we are still learning things about this game really does blow my mind.

I’ve always had a bit of a thing for Kurtis Trent - I think he’s my original gaming crush, predating Ezio Auditore & Nathan Drake.

Now someone just needs to mod a shirtless version into the game.. Well one can dream.

Galleries Under Siege 

The infamous moment in AOD between Lara and Kurtis, I just had to render it. I always enjoyed the dynamic between these two throughout Angel of Darkness, Kurtis’s cocky charm - especially with that smirk...

Anyhow sorry for my absence! I’ve made so many renders this year for Tomb Raider’s 25th! Seeing everyone’s tributes to the iconic Lara herself has kept me inspired to render!  Anyways, what I think I’ll do is I’ll add all my render’s I’ve done currently to a queue for you all. I’ll try and be more active on here though

Although TR4 month has been and gone, the Last Revelation is one of my personal favourites as I’ve said 100 times and I finally got round to finishing this render off that has been sitting on my desktop for too long.

Inspired by the original sketch from 1999 and partly by the gorgeous work of Inna Vjuzhanina, I thought I’d create my own interpretation, as I haven’t seen the pose recreated in 3D all that often.

Parisian Backstreets

Urgh this outfit, God I love it so much! Lara’s early 2000′s look on the backstreets of Paris is to me, one of her iconic looks, so I had to create a render with showcasing it!

Anyways, it’s still hard to believe that AOD is now over 18 years old, babies born at the time of the games release are now of legal age to drink now, well at least in the UK. God time flies, and waits for no one.

One thing for sure though, it’s clear that within the TR community that Angel of Darkness is still a beloved game after all this time. The fanart I’ve seen this month from artists from across the spectrum has been fantastic.

Beta V2

Another old render of the beta version of Lara that I recreated from the early development process of AOD. 

One thing I do wish we could of had was a way select certain outfits for AOD - can you imagine, beta, classic, sola etc outfits in the game - it’s such a shame the game had to be rushed out due to the publishers Eidos, forcing Core to shove it out of the door early when it was FAR from ready.

Core wasn’t completely innocent in the failure of AOD - the team were disjointed and completely burnt out half the time. It’s all a terrible shame

I do wonder what could of been if AOD continued, but also how would Tomb Raider look and play today if Core kept the franchise. How would she have evolved? Would she ever of been rebooted? Something we’ll never know.

BETA BABE

Angel of Darkness is one of the most underrated games in the Tomb Raider franchise. Yes it’s riddled with bugs, completely unfinished and the controls are a mess, but at it’s heart, AOD is a fantastic game and one of the best in the franchise imho.

I always remember getting the game on PC back in 2003, I remember being in the store purchasing it. God I can remember coming home installing the game and playing it in shit quality resolution with around 5 FPS as I had no idea back then that games had system requirements! I only made it to the Industrial Rooftops level before giving up on the PC version and returning to Tomb Raider II on PC.

I did return however at a later date, this time on PS2 - I remember getting to Boaz Returns level all by myself. (although I may have looked up some help from tombraiderchronicles.com walkthrough - I used to print off pages back then if I got really stuck!) Anyways I had a friend back then who was also obsessed with Lara also (something they grew out of) and they helped me defeat Boaz - who thought mapping the roll button and target switch to square was a good idea!

I always loved the look of Lara in AOD, to me she’s timeless, maybe it’s nostalgia but I think she looks as good today as she did then. 

So anyways.. here’s my starting tribute to AOD - I thought I’d start at the beginning with her Beta look, so just a couple of simple renders - mainly inspired by the Maya WIP screenshots from the time

FreakRaider’s Tomb Raider Angel of Darkness 1.5

The Tomb Raider Angel of Darkness celebrations have officially begun (not that we need a reason to celebrate AOD)

Anyhow FreakRaider has just released a new video showcasing the new Lara Croft model that Konrad Majewski designed specifically for FreakRaider’s AOD Remake. 

Loved the ending, the whole thing was phenomenal to say the least 😍🔥

I remember seeing this project in its early inception and it’s come a long way since!  I’ll be looking forward to maybe a demo in the future, although I’ll probably be watching it and not playing it looking at the graphics - my pc would fry 😂

Red Alert!

My final tribute to Tomb Raider Chronicles before moving onto AOD - God I need to get rendering! 😣

Although Core may have not wanted to make this game due to the constant past 4 years of annual releases, I appreciate the expanded story between Lara and Werner Von Croy, especially there rivalry as a pair. 

It also ties together how Lara obtained the artefact - being last featured in The Last Revelation where Werner was trapped and seen prior in Lara’s Home in Tomb Raider III, so it all wrapped up the story of the Iris rather nicely.

Ahh a young Lara back in 80′s...

I always found her in game character model rather cute, which can’t be said for the FMV version, well mainly renders of her - stuff of nightmares 

Speaking of nightmares, those little Imp demons still give me the creeps to this day! I don’t think Lara was to fazed by them though, considering she throws an Iron clapper there way and bitch-slaps a sea hag also on her travels, can’t forget about good old Verdilet either 😂
