i know i reblogged that quote from the letter from a birmingham jail last night but I think that reading the whole thing is a worthwhile thing to do every so often. there are a lot of similarities between the contents of the letter and modern protests, including the disavowal of even nonviolent protests by institutional figures. it is also a very good piece of rhetoric, a response to a public disavowal of mlk by a group of religious leaders. it is written as though in response to them, using religious arguments, that they ought to find hard to ignore, but it was also designed with a wider audience in mind, specifically a lot is designed to make other white moderates reconsider their stance.

#honestly it's because when i was first thinking about it in december i made the most banger playlist for it #and i have been listening to that again as Comforting Background Music and hence thinking about it #i should write down the names of their five children in the doc before i actually forget them #i don't think i'm going to write it but it is a good excuse to push me to think about welsh and wales more often #and who knows. i think it would make a great messy soap opera 100k word unfinished fic on ye olde ao3 #perce rambles #also on a different note i reread what i have of the stephen doing top surgery on hornblower fic and i'm upset at how good it is #why do they all sound in character why does it actually have a functional plot who wrote this #now i need to insert The Navy's Most Intense Game Of Piquet: Trans Feelings Edition™ and also several more scenes but aaaaaa #very very excited for when that sees the light of day (probably won't be for like another year lol. there's a reason why it's cohesive) #anyways here's your silly fic update. also doing the stephen/jack famous flower of serving men but that one's cooking slowly too. we'll see

my friend and i were going to study a language together and wound up having to cancel our plans due to scheduling pressures, but! through research we came across a really cool resource for reading in a TON of languages: bloom library!

as you can see, it has a lot of books for languages that are usually a bit harder to find materials for—we were going to use it for kyrgyz, for example, which has over 1000 books, which was really hard to find textbook materials for otherwise. as you can see it also has books with audio options, which would be really useful for pronunciation checking. as far as i can tell, everything on the site is free as well.

Two common genets (Genetta genetta) photographed in the Montseny Natural Park. This natural park is located in the mountainous forests around the Montseny mountain range, at the border between the Barcelona Metropolitan Ambit, Central Catalonia, and Comarques Gironines regions of Catalonia.

Genets are originally from Africa and the Arabian peninsula, but have also been living in the Iberian peninsula, the Balearic islands, and Occitania for centuries. There doesn't seem to be scientific consensus on when exactly they arrived here, though most point at them being introduced by the Ancient Romans.

eternally unwell over how much jack & sophie's marriage is enriched & completed by having stephen there too, like platonic and romantic both things just work best when it's all three of them together supporting each other. the way jack & stephen get sophie out of her horrible family situations and encourage her to have confidence in herself and both make her laugh, the way sophie & stephen keep jack from getting himself into messes on land and ensure he always has the companionship of someone he loves, the way jack & sophie look after stephen and make sure he eats and give him a warm home to always come back to and the steadiness of their affection. he has his own room in their house and is both of their best friend and they're always so overjoyed to have him around. augh
