4. which cryptyd being do you believe in?

Anything that lives underwater. I've watched too many documentaries about things that live in the deep to scoff at ANY of them. I would also like them to stay down there happy in their own ecosystem please and thank you.

24. if we were together on a rooftop, what would we be doing?

Oh that's easy! We'd have a blanket rolled out, maybe some sweet roof deck furniture to lounge on, a rolling cocktail cart for all our favorite drinks, projecting some Pedro onto a white sheet and talking about writing and Tumblr and anything else under the sun - like always ;)

38. a soap bar that smells good?

I used to work at a Lush when I was fresh out of college and some of their soaps were sinfully tasty. My two favorites were an orange one called Sexy Peel and another called Godmother that smelled like Swedish fish. But I can walk in their and sniff out a good bar any day!

Hair ties all the way. I'm in a ponytail 99% of the time and I just don't have the patience for scrunchies.

29. how do you like your shower water?

Ideally not too hot, but enough to steam up the room, and on a perfect day a short cooler portion so the cold of my apartment doesn't shock me to death!

31. what type of music keeps you grounded?

I answered "orchestral" in my last ask, but I also feel very grounded by the music I grew up with, which was mostly bluegrass. My dad is an old hippie so I listened to a lot of classic rock, but bluegrass was a constant as well. Every time I listen again it brings me right back home.

31. what type of music keeps you grounded?

If I want to be very present in a moment, it's orchestral/choral music. I used to listen to all the Lord of the Rings soundtracks on repeat, and they were excellent at focusing my mind. But more recently I went to a live performance of Handel's The Messiah and I was completely riveted from start to finish. Popular music is awesome for daydreaming and getting pumped up, but I'm the most grounded and present listening to orchestral music.

36. how many times have you changed your url?

Never! I made a Tumblr like seven years ago and forgot about it, then when I started writing I considered changing it but said fuck it, I still like it and I'm just gonna forge on ahead with it. I think it's here to stay!

47. what was the last message you sent?

"I'll grab the food on the way home" to Mr LJ after picking up some muscle relaxers for him - poor guy's been dealing with a random back spasm so it's been a rough day for him. But before that I was gushing about Max Lord to @missredherring which is always a delight!

Do you edit your stories as you write, or do you dump everything out and then go back through it?

Laura! Thank you for coming in to spread some sunshine! I'm a little late to the party, but I'm excited to delve into this question!

I do some minor editing as I write, but mostly I'm stream of consciousness putting words on the page and then coming back for a big edit session. The exception to this is major scene rewrites! I will change and cut out things as I'm writing if I don't like the way it's going and need to backtrack. Sometimes I save those bits for later parts, but mostly I'm writing until I find the right parts and removing the chaff that I needed to get through to find the meat. I purposefully don't change grammar or sentence structure so I HAVE to go through and edit later, which irks me on rereads but does help me slow down and edit more thoroughly.

21. something you’ve kept since childhood?

I think the only thing I have from childhood still in my possession (my parents still have loads of stuff at their house) is my great grandfather's pocket watch. It was given to me by my dad when I graduated college and has all our names engraved in it. It still works too!

26. a scenario that you’ve replayed multiple times?

Oh god, so many. Not counting all the Pedro daydreaming, I sit and think back on old memories with new context all the time. The ones that probably get the most replays have to do with tough social interactions that I did not recognize at the time, like the one night stand I had with a guy I'd had a crush on for YEARS who then just stopped talking to me. Or when I had a "friend breakup" and wished I could have said something to make it less painful somehow. Writing has actually been a great outlet for some of those scenarios!

44. you get a free pass to kill anyone, who is it?

GODDAMN, coming in hot with the questions here! This answer might be a bit unconventional (and possibly a little triggering because I'm discussing death of a family member) so putting it under the cut:

If any of my family were at a "point of no return" medically, I would hope to have a free pass to help them pass on instead of living in extended pain. I don't know what kind of strength I'd have to have for that, but I wouldn't want them to continue suffering if I had the ability to stop it. Maybe a bit of a downer here, but that's what I've come up with.

The first few weeks Din had the little green womp rat on his ship, the little bugger kept waking him up in the middle of the night

Din was a bounty hunter, a Mandalorian, he was no stranger to his ship being raided or having to be a light sleeper in anticipation of sneak attacks during the night.

In was in their blood.

What he wasn't prepared for was the little green monster the size of a porg to be body slamming him in the middle of the night.

Din slept with his blaster, there could've been serious casualties.

After the ninth time his sleep had been disturbed, Din grabbed the creature. "What? Why do you keep doing this, you little womp rat?"

It's ears lowered to the sides of his head, making a keening sound unlike a young foundling in need of attention.

Din observed him quietly, setting him down on his lap. "Don't tell me you're scared of sleeping up there?" he glanced at the overhanging cot, confused.

It was made of durable leather and skins, it had enough space for the little green monster, so why was it so scared?

The green porg whimpered again and his small hands wrapped around Din's shirt, trembling slightly.

He didn't understand its language, but Din did understand its intentions.

It was scared.

With a heavy defeated sigh, Din fell back on his bed, if one could call the slab of collapsible ship wall covered by a blanket a bed, and closed his eyes.

He felt tiny hands grab at him and push a little body upward, until the creature nestled itself into the crook of his arm and chest.

With a gesture Din convinced himself was either instinctual or accidental, his free hand rested protectively over the boy, feeling its body relax under his weight.

Din settled back into a light sleep, mildly aware of the tiny face nuzzling deeper into his chest.
