I was thinking about this AGAIN (I'm an animal) and it would be even cuter if like, Pipper was in the middle of chattering or something and she stopped, smooched Gabe, and immediately went back to doing whatever she was doing. Like a reflex-kiss, haha.

I think that would probably work better if it wasn't their first kiss. But Gabe would 100% still get all flustered.

I was looking back at my imagined scenario for Pip and Gabe's first kiss. I like the idea of Pip helping Gabe relax before kissing him, but I also think it would be really cute if instead of that, if she just kissed him even with his silly puckered up face, haha.

Like he's leaning in and she sees him, but very naturally just smooches him right there, no hesitation. Still quick and sweet, and it still makes for a very adorable scene!!!

Remembering now how many pets my family had growing up that were literally just critters we found outdoors. Garter snakes. Toads. Even praying mantises!

But I also remember how people on here, some of which were even friends of mine, would get pissed off about that. Like, once I posted a picture of our toad, and my friend was very upset about it, because they felt it was wrong to take the toad as a pet.

And I understand to an extent but like... it is a common toad, who came from an area where most of its kind would be killed by traffic and such (I know this because when you walk out there, that's all you see on the ground...) We loved our toad, he was very well-fed and spent a lot of time enjoying baths and chasing after fish-flies during the summer.

I don't regret keeping any of those critters. The only one we did end up releasing back into nature was a mature eastern garter snake, older than we'd had before. She'd been pregnant when we found her, though we had no clue, and after she gave birth to 11 babies, we kept 2 of them and released the rest, along with herself. Her name was Chili, and we let her go because she was not very happy being indoors- which is understandable since she had lived outside for so long!

The two babies we kept were very good boys! Checkers and Inchworm I think were their names. Often tangled together, and sometimes squabbled over food... we also had DJ, daughter of Dojo, the first snake we ever kept. And yes, we had a mantid once as well, mainly my mom's because she loves them.

I miss having pets like that. But, at least I have my kitty! Jinx is a great cat and I love her so much, I wouldn't trade her for 100 snakes. :3

You know, an interesting tumblr transformation that's happened gradually, and which I've seen no one talk about: ask-culture has essentially dropped off to nothing.

By which I mean, asks used to be WAY more of the tumblr economy. They used to be more common to send, and receive, and see. They were integral to the collaborative, forum-like behavior of old tumblr communities, not even to speak on the HUGE number of ask-blogs that used to exist to only be interacted with in ask-form.

I'm not saying this in a vying-for-attention way but instead in an observational way: I used to get way way more asks in like 2015, even with a fraction of my follower count. I wonder if it's due to the homogenization of social media sites? There's a lot more of this divide between "content creator" and "consumer" instead of just a bunch of peer blogs who would talk to each other. "Asks" aren't really a thing on twitter, are they? And as I understand it, the closest thing to an "ask" on instagram or tiktok would be a creator screenshotting some comment and responding to it in a new reel or video or whatever those content mediums are. Are asks just too tumblr-specific? Is that aspect of the site culture dying out as more and more people converge to using all their social media sites in the same way?

i see u like bugs. how did this happen, might i ask?

Simple, I grew up in the dirt, raised by many earthworms.

...if you're serious about that, I don't really have a big answer, I just like bugs! I maybe didn't live in the dirt but my mother raised myself and my brother to play outdoors instead of online or whatever. I didn't really make friends with people, but I spent a lot of time in the garden, lifting rocks and finding as many critters as I could. I love bugs, and plants, and nature in general.

I'd love to study environmental sciences and biology, entomology in particular. I don't know what sorts of bugs I'd like to focus on if I did, I truly love so many... and I'm not really bothered by anything considered a creepy crawly, I like spiders, wasps, and centipedes just as much as butterflies, bumblebees, and snails (or whatever people deem "good" bugs)

#i really only dislike a few bugs. ticks and round/tape worms. which aren't really bugs ig? #oh and bedbugs... but i like roaches and even mosquitoes! #leeches are cool too. kind of creepy i suppose but very beneficial #ALSO i don't use the word bug and insect synonymously. insect is a certain type of bug (six legs and what not) #bug just means most invertebrates... insects and arachnids and crustaceans and mollusks! #and others #ask

With that last ask, Abby would likely struggle with understanding Big™ emotions like love or attraction. Not in the same way her father does, but more like, she just doesn't know what the heck to do! She suddenly feels funny around this person, and she gets frustrated because she can't figure it out!!

Asexuality and such is not something that can be passed on genetically or even taught, y'know. It's entirely up to her, how she views people and what she'd feel okay with in a relationship.

I don't really think of Abby too much beyond her early teen years, so it's hard for me to imagine her like that. I think she'd probably be fine though, and if she ever does develop a crush on someone it could be very cute and funny because her parents are like, the worst people to ask for advice.

Finally updated some stuff in the posted fic.

I have to go over the 2nd and 3rd chapters still, but I think (?) that the first and final ones are okay, better than they were imo!

Every so often I reread my Pip n Gabe fic, The Wheel Of Life, on my pc and I usually make small edits here and there because I'll notice grammatical errors or perhaps the same descriptive word used too frequently. I even have made a couple changes to dialogue and stuff because it sounds less corny or whatever.

As it stands, I have made quite a few edits now, but I still haven't taken the time to post the updated fic to AO3. So now of course I am anxious because A) If I do upload it, the people who already read the fic won't know or read it again and my work will be kind of pointless, but B) If I DON'T, I will feel weird knowing that a version of my writing is public but not as good as it could be.

In the end it truly matters not, nobody cares that much and nobody really reads my stuff haha. But I care. ;w;

I am sorry to say I do not actually have pink hair. :^( I wish I did, I've dyed it a couple of times but it's never the right shade and it washes out really fast.
