My current running theory for Nancy Drew is that Nancy tried to forget about how her love for Ace felt, rather than the curse itself. That is why she keeps talking about her romance with Tristain in such a way that makes it seem like she never had those things with ace. She remembers she loved him, she remembers the curse. She just doesn't remember how it feels to love him. After all she asked how she was meant to let Ace go when she knew what kissing him was really like.

And I think the way the Sin Eater has approached this is to split up its own relationship. I think Ace's ghost is the person that is meant to keep reincarnating with the Sin Eater and in an effort to make Nancy and Ace forget about how their love felt, it has been forced to swap their partners because you can't fully replace a relationship that powerful. So Tristain should have been with Ghost while Ace should have been with Nancy. And Nancy and Ace both feel strongly connected to Tristain and Ghost because its just the connection they had with the other being redirected.

One time the Drew Crew encounter a monster that only people 13 and under can see so they decide to use a ritual to turn themselves back into their younger selves so they can stop it. They believed they would keep their memories when they did so but the spell goes awry and it is up to Carson and Ryan to remind the five what is going on and help them work out how to stop it.

I really loved the most recent episode, I really did, but I kinda felt like I wanted a bit more of a cliffhanger. Like I was waiting for Nancy to reveal that her reading the message of the mirror before the black door appeared had taken away the burden of her past (the one thing she has been trying to avoid) and she had actually completely forgotten Ace's existence the next morning (which totally would have paired with the conversation they had before on the phone). Or that the large wave that knocked Ace and Thom's boat was actually the curse getting out and Thom is now going to start hearing the voices of the dead. Like I just wanted something like that and it never came.

Thinking about McGinnis catching a teenaged Ace staring at Nancy one time where they both happen to be at the police station and instantly knowing that Ace has a crush and being like 'That is something for Thom to fix'.

If you like Nancy Drew, please go and check out Lockwood and Co. The marketing does not do it justice but it is an amazing and heartfelt supernatural show with elements of mystery and such cosy, found family vibes.

It is such a great show and you can distract yourself from the Nace trauma with Locklyle trauma instead.

I have the feeling that an adult the the Drew Crew trusts has been part of a cover up by the Black Door so I have a few suggestions:

Ryan - I don't like this idea but he is the obvious choice. You can imagine the Hudsons might have had access to whatever does the memory wipes - for him I am imagining some sort of drunk driving accident.

Jean - She feels like a good choice as she hasn't really had a character arc like this - maybe helping to suppress some evidence that would have led to a career criminal being found innocent of a particular crime after they couldn't get him arrested for something else.

McGinnis - This is my personal favourite because I think it is my style - McGinnis killed a criminal or falsified evidence because he felt he was too dangerous to let the courts deal with him (bonus points if the criminal was killed when attempting to hurt Thom and his family because then Ace could end up being targeted directly by whoever else gets influenced by the black sludge)

Also, linking back to my previous theory that Ace (or possibly Nick) might have been working for Temperance unwittingly, I think drinking the black sludge it going to eventually be what causes him to remember what he has been doing to mess with their plans to break the curse.

i saw a theory by @platanchorsociety about ace being nancy's blindspot and being manipulated by temperance without them knowing, and it inspired a different theory in me - what if the drew crew realized that temperance is somehow looking through nancy's eyes and seeing everything the crew is doing to combat the curse, just so she can sabotage every effort. they enact a plan to keep nancy in the dark by having ace break up with her while the crew does curse-fighting in the background so temperance doesn't find out. right when they're about to break it, they'll let nancy back in on the plan

Now I am thinking of the Barbie arrested meme only with Nancy having hers saying 'Nancy Drew' and Ace's just saying 'Ace'

I think Ace's full name should be revealed in the final episode when, all threats defeated and curse lifted, Nancy gets down on one knee and asks Ace to marry her.
