I've been having a really fucking rough go of it lately, but your story always grounds me, gives me a home, and makes me remember what it is to feel safe. I hope to see stoney and cora get their ending, whether it's happy or not, but even if they don't, please know that you've given us all an island.

What a humbling and lovely thing to come back and find in my inbox. I'm sorry you are having a hard time lately. The island's always there when you or any of us need it.

😈 Is there anything you enjoy doing that you think your readers hate?

I imagine readers hate my rambling internal monologues for each character, which often start a POV and make it difficult to follow along. But I do have fun getting lost in the weeds with my characters. Among other things. I definitely had to narrow this answer down because I projected a lot of my own thoughts onto readers at first.

🤔 What is the hardest part of writing fic?

Staying intrinsically motivated, especially from a time management perspective, when the "home" for your fic has moved on. Tumblr is a completely different ecosystem than it was when I first shared any of this writing, and it's hard to want to continue here sometimes. I mean, the fic is also up on wattpad, but this is its original home (in terms of being shared with others), and it's weird to think about putting new writing up here now.

💻 Do you do research for your fics? What’s the deepest dive you’ve done?

I am a researcher to the bone. I've definitely mapped the route from Cora's apartment building to Cyclops to Potatohead to like six other scene locations and know how long it takes to drive, bike, or walk from any one place to the other. If I write about a game of pickup basketball, I've Google Street Viewed the exact court where it takes place. If I talk about a hiking spot, I've read multiple accounts of the trail. I agonized for weeks about the date of the Seven Year Bitch show being slightly off from reality. I'm the most exhausting human ever.

💖 What do you like most about your own writing?

Honestly this question is why it took me so long to actually answer this ask. Not a lot, lately, and the feeling of obligation to finish the fic became bigger than any desire to keep writing it because it has so many problems. I guess above all, I do like the way I use symbolism, heavy-handed though it might be. And I love a good roast conversation between my idiots, when I manage to produce one.

😐 What embarrasses you most about your own writing?

The same thing as the previous answer. I am the queen of purple prose and I hate it so much.

🌙  What time of day do you prefer to write? Why?

Nighttime. It's the only time I get 🤷🏼‍♀️
