Father I don't want this marriage - review

I just felt the need to share some thoughts after reading the side stories. It contains spoilers of the main story and the side stories too.

Note, this is very much my own opinion and I don't think I am correct nor I am trying to change your mind.

Do I reccomend it? Yes, if you like romance it is nice. I was mainly here for the angst tho and I am mostly satisfied, not in the way I expected but satisfied. Read it on tappytoon if you can, or just buy some chapter to support the author.

Manhwa or novel? I only read the manhwa, so that one. But some said the novel is amazing so you can have a try.

Opinions:

First, I have to say it. Even if it is annoying. The sex scene were absolutely unnecessary. I am picky when it comes to sex in the stories, for me it should be either present since the beginning (i.e. for smut stories or if it is a topic of the serie that has its own focus, maybe due to trauma or as a way to be more free of the character) or it should mean something. As example: the two characters that are finally reunited, the two that longed for each other for so long and are finally together again, them fighting the urge but being unable to for whatever reason etc. Not the "oh damn, how do I make this longer? let's just add sex". And in neither cases (Max and Jeuvi + the parents) it made sense. Plus it was the first time and they magically did everything right but details. Especially for Legis and Amelia. If they are still going to consume before the wedding, make it after Legis came back from the war. When there are so many feelings unsorted and there is still the relief that they are both there and alive and it just happens. Not them casually sharing the bed and Amelia being horny (which still it is very much valid and all, BUT FOR THE STORY THAT VERSION WOULD HAVE MADE MORE SENSE)

Second pet peeve of the serie: listen I love the slowburn. So I loved that everything took forver. BUT WHY THE FUCK IS THE LAST ARC SO SHORT. Legis died, not died, and went full health in like 3 episodes!!?? WHERE IS THE PAIN? THE SUFFERING? ME WONDERING FOR WEEKS IF THEY ARE GOING TO BE FINE OR NOT?

Now I shall go with what I liked eheh

Listen, I would kill for a whole story centred on Legis and Amelia. The angst, the unrequired (as if) love, the drama, the war, the witch hunting, the absolute devotion these two share. Everything is perfect. I could cry and write an essay about them for hours. And they are just so perfect.

Jeuvi, I love her ok. She had a wonderful character development and I am proud of her.

Max, my little kitty lol, every single interaction with Legis is hilarious. I love when he is a red flag for everyone but the FL.

Mikhail as a villain was honestly nice to me, like he just went full psyco mode with tunnel vision and I think it fits him. He did is job in the story so congrats to him. The emperor and Fanfil on the other hand felt a little on the weak side, but probably because the ending was so rushed.

The twins left me with honestly no impression, I almost forgot they were there more than once in the side stories.

I sobbed during the wedding ngl, when Jeuvi pulled the "remember at the beginning, when I didn't want you?" I had to take a moment because I saw all the story flashing in front of my eyes.

It's sad to tell them goodbye but now it truly is finished... Bye everyone, it was a nice journey, hope you have a good life.

The ending scene between Ian and Mi-rye killed me HAHAHA. I need a bonus where he truly convince Ian to do ancestral rights or some sacrifices. Maybe with Yugun being involved too, I am sure Mi-rye has the power to do it, he is just being lazy.

Damn the title didn't feel weird until I had to actually type it.

Jaewoon pls I beg you JUST TELL THEM 😭 Yes I want both of them to know that he is "alive" and well. Just so they can get some closure.

I can't continue like this, it's annoying PLEASE. Yes it will sound weird but honestly they are both so down bad they will just accept it if you can slightly prove that you are the same person. And the children too, they will likely just cry of happyness, I am more surprised they didn't go "hold up, are you SURE you aren't the original Jaewoon?" that starts as a joke and soon he gives up and confess everything.

On a side note, I feel sorry for the granny she was adorable and now she will be more lonely. Maybe they can make space for her in the house too, I mean it's not like they are lacking it.

If I am not wrong the serie should end soon and I am so sad about it ngl, they were adorable and kept me so much company

The grimm variations episode 2 comment below the cut!

It was so much more gore-y than the first ep. For some it may be better for other worst. For me in this case it's worst, I don't mind some of it but I felt it a little too much. I also don't see the point of half censoring it and half not, either fully commit to it or don't, this middle ground was eh.

Personal opinion: Also I am slightly annoyed at the open ending 😭 I despise them, no I don't want to think about the ending myself. I want a Canon ending I can like or complain about. Not "what will happen is in your immaginaton", if I wanted that I would be writing a book.

It's becoming clear this serie is more targeted toward smart people who can do smart analysis and I am not quite there yet (literature was far from my fave subject) so I definitely missed several details, especially this episode.

Anyway, I am offended there is not much of the brothers shown like.

Am I supposed to be fed 4 minutes of him every episode? Illegal, I need at least double amount.

Bro was insane but hey, he is the big bad wolf, so understandable. I liked his hunt and his morbid seeking for reality

I also found it a nice detail that since he is a wolf he only eats the meat that he hunted and otherwise he is basically vegetarian.

I haven't understood much the setting for the world tho. Are the tears something magical that turn fantasy in reality? But then when you move you are still in the real world? Is that why the buildings and everything are white, to cause less problem with this distortion? But if it is like that, how can people teleport around, they should still move?? I'm confused 😭

The bear was hilarious tho, I laughed for 10 minutes

Next I loved that Scarlet is a "hunting" little riding hood. She seemed extremely fishy immediately, but I didn't expect her to be an even more savage version of the wolf.

The second the wolf said "oh but I think we are similar" I knew he was doomed and it was so satisfying ngl.

When she went with the whole "what big hands/eyes/mouth you have"? It was insane and beautiful. I was shivering like, "she won't really do it, will she" AND SHE DID. INSANE. I LOVE.

I love how she is a different kind of insane compared to Cinderella in the previous episode, and I wonder what the future "positive" characters will end up being like.

I read your fenian name theory and I love it. But would Vincent and Rachel be that stupid, though? Naming their kid "Isis" basically.

I just spit out my tea ‘naming their kid Isis’ fsjafhiasueut9wetewthewkt t So-- yes and no. I wouldn’t compare it with Isis. Although the Fenian Brotherhood eventually became radicalized and many resorted to extreme violence: Consider how much death, war, and cultural loss was suffered at the hands of England. For decades.   I don’t know if I can put into one post how many people died and were killed just for their faith, alone and burned for no-good reasons. Their gods and goddesses went from that, to ‘fairies’, to demons by the time King James was in power and he came way before Victoria did.  To be honest with you, the Big Thing™ that REALLY would have set Queen Victoria off doesn’t add up with the timeline because it happened well after the twins were both born (But then again, Kuro doesn’t have a completely set-in-stone timeline, either), but there is no shortage of how strong that name was politically.  Vincent and Rachel Phantomhive were notorious for their charity work and were really loved by the common people. But the house of Phantomhive was also responsible for protecting the queen FROM people like the fenian brotherhood; and the Phantomhive Manor was the main base of operations-- so that explained why the house had to go, too.   If someone in my most trusted circle had a child who was born on the anniversary of my beloved husband’s death, and then named that child after a group that actively hated my guts and were trying to assassinate me-- I’d be more than a little pissed off.  It’s heartbreaking to me wondering how different things might have been if OC were named Albert, or something.  As for “being that stupid” - I don’t think it was a matter of being stupid. I think it was an act of bravery; and the Queen (or her security eyes on the midfords), took it way....way, way too far; seeing the name as a threat. And who knows? Maybe Vincent WAS a threat, and plotting something against her. I wouldn’t blame him if he was.  That’s my understanding of it. If his name is anything else, I’ll be really confused by the way the manga is written.
