I saw your post about the characters with a traumatized MC and the part about the angels made me start thinking about how they'd handle an MC who has religious trauma (because I thought that was where it was going in your post)

MC avoiding Simeon and Luke because everything related to heaven creeps them out (they're legit scared of angels, god, etc) and feeling way too comfortable living in the devildom and being around demons because they "always knew they were going to end up in hell when they died" because that's what was hammered into their head growing up or something

that would sure change the cast's views on human religion huh?

Yes, absolutely. I can't remember if I mentioned it before or just kept that brainworm tucked safely inside my skull, but I think about this a lot. Namely, because I have SO much religious trauma (yippie!).

I've thought a lot about how the Celestial Realm harbors a lot of the same toxicity that certain organized religions have the tendancy to exhibit here on good ol earth. I mean, we've seen some things in game that suggest that things aren't all rainbows and roses up there. The way that Luke talks early game suggests a lot. And so I'm sure a religiously traumatized MC would have SUCH a hard time around the angels at first. (I actually had my own reservations with the angels when they were first introduced and I even kind of disliked Luke a ton before I eventually took a step back and thought about the fact that he's just a BABY who is just spitting out ideals that were shoved into his head. It's not his fault, and I think his character development is something that the fandom does not address enough. I'm so proud of him!! Having your expectations of the world be broken and then having to relearn everything you thought you knew is actually SO hard.)

MC getting along well or feeling more comfortable with demons because they don't feel like they're being judged or under the watchful eyes of others.

MC talking about "not being as afraid to come back" VERY early on in game and the other characters taking WAY too long to realize they mean come to purgatory after they pass, and the demons themselves don't feel good about knowing that.

MC avoiding certain sins/pleasures/temptations due to the fear that's been embedded in them over it. Even if those things are COMPLETELY normal and harmless to enjoy.

All of the characters being extremely patient and understanding about this sort of thing and very slowly chipping away at certain stigmas they still hold onto, making the human feel safe while they do.

MC avoiding Simeon because of mixed feelings of shame and maybe a bit of resentment and then eventually learning that he's actually such a down to earth and sweet guy and spending more time with him just to learn that he's been in many similar situations is so...so good to think about. Learning that he'll never force certain ideologies onto them, that he doesn't see them as someone who needs to be "saved". A human and an angel sitting together and discussing what being "good" really means. Sharing confessions to each other that they've both held on their backs for such a long time because they've been too ashamed of themselves and confused to heal from it alone. They're not a sinner and a Saint, they're just normal people who make mistakes and want to do good in the world.

I do have many thoughts on this clearly...

I like to imagine an MC with ~Trauma~ (because same) that is just completely oblivious to how much all the other characters will back-flip and change entire habits for them. Like, I'm envisioning:

MC is just casually hanging out like usual when some of the brothers break out fighting in the house...like usual, and the shouting and sounds of things breaking causes them to tear up and panic a bit. Although they don't really notice that for the next month, none of them get into fights and when they start to do so, they end up taking it outside.

Or maybe MC avoiding the angels for a good while and no one can figure out why till they mention that they're not used to people treating them like that and it's very unnatural. "At least being around demons feels more normal." And none of the characters take this well. Even Diavolo has to sit down and stare at a wall for a while and reevaluate his whole outlook on things. Simeon tries sounding a bit more "rough" for a while and it flops terribly.

Or even:

MC: Oh, there you guys are, I was wondering where some of you went.

*A few of the brothers lift their head as the human enters the living room.*

MC: Is there something going on? Why are you all here?

Mammon: Sittin' here watchin' the races.

Satan: Reading.

Lucifer: Taking the time to catch up on old Devildom infrastructure.

Levi: Playing the newest Hell Souls!

MC: *A bit confused.* So you're all doing your own thing...in the living room?

Satan: That's typically what the living room is for.

MC: But...doesn't that make you uncomfortable?

*All of them realize they've never really seen MC come out of their room unless invited otherwise.*

Lucifer: *Physically vibrating in his seat trying to hold back the "Take Them Under Your Wing" urge he's started to experience at least once a week now.*

I just...listen I know they're demons but they comfort they would bring...

Beel would totally love the "Full course for candy addicts" and Asmo totally goes wild for "World is Mine". I'd say the seven sins series but you know Asmo would throw a fit when he finds out the duke used to be ugly lol

You know, honestly I was completely going to suggest Full Course for Candy Addicts based off pure gut instinct (pun entirely unintended...) but I was trying so hard not to give him a song based off of...ya know...eating people, but there are surprisingly SO many songs about that topic! Like...a surprsing amount of them! Full Course for Candy Addicts, Butcher Vanity, Perfectly Sweet, Binomi, Evil Food Eater Conchita...the list goes on.

Asmo would love World is Mine for sure. You know, I think Asmo would make fun of vocaloid at first and then later become unironically obsessed with a good variety of songs.

And while we're adding on more songs I want to say that Levi would go crazy over both Digital Girl and Miku Miku Beam.

Me: *Almost breaks into an immediate cold sweat, so confused as to what's playing as flashbacks of a different game run through my mind.*

And of course I'm just stupid, because it's obviously not a song from Dangonronpa and it plays in Obey Me in nearly every single event but I never noticed how similar it was before! I guess since I always was reading story plot along with the OST I never noticed, but listening to it on its own really caught me off guard! Thought I was about ready to solve a class trial all of a sudden...

In other news I also unlocked the Reminising for the Future OST and it fits Lucifer's new premium picture like a dream!

Me just trying to get my body figured out: "Yeah, I don't know, doc, I've been getting like 2-4 hours of sleep a night if I'm lucky. I don't know what's going on."

My Psychiatrist: "Well, (aside from all the other things going on with me) are you doing anything in your bed or bedroom aside from sleeping?"

Me: 'Well, yeah, I watch tiktok or YouTube in bed and I play games in my room, write in my room, exercise in my room... That's probably not helping, is it?"

A few months later.

Me, still trying to figure my stuff out: "Yeah, I mean I've finally been sleeping okay again with your advice and the new meds, but now I feel like I can't do anything after work. I haven't done any of my hobbies for months now."

My sweet patient doctor: "Well, where are you trying to do these things?"

Me: "In my..."

So, guess who will now be trying to write from a library or cafe? Fingers crossed that my productivity goes up!

Hello, and welcome to another installment of niche content containing another mash of my two special interests. Written out of boredom at the airport. Today's edition, fueled with my excitement of being able to go to none other than Miku Expo 2024, I give:

The Brothers As My Favorite Vocaloid Songs!

Yes, I know, please, quell your excitement. I know everyone was waiting for this one. I will take no criticisms or judgments, only enthusiastic additions.

Warning: While nothing stated in this post needs a full content warning, if anyone decides to look up these songs, many songs themselves have plenty of individual warnings, so please search with caution.

Lucifer:

Now, the song I think he'd actually enjoy listening to is Daughter of Evil. It's got tragedy behind it, the song is a bit more classical/waltzy, exactly the kind of thing he likes. However based off his vibes alone, I'm gonna say Honey I'm Home. Mostly because I love Ghost and Pals but also because religious trauma. And I know other people agree with me because I've seen fanart of it.

Mammon:

I think Mammon would listen to Sand Planet. Oo, or Bring it On. Do I have a detailed explanation as to why? Not really in so many words, but it just seems like something he'd listen to, I feel it in my bones. I will not be taking any questions. Now the song I think he embodies? Wildcard. I mean, the whole motif is about playing cards, it's upbeat and fast paced and I love it and I love Kasane Teto even more.

Levi:

I will physically fight anyone who doesn't think Levi listens to Rolling Girl at least once a day (I won't actually fight anyone but I feel very strongly on this matter). It helps him get through hard times but it also makes him cry. Which...same, Levi, same. But if Leviathan were to be a song itself, I'd have to pass it over to Volt Tackle by Deco*27. Pokémon, talking about fighting and struggling at first to capture someone's love? Oo, or Digital Girl. It's got him written all over it. (Or if I want to be sad, give him Anthropophobia)

Satan:

See, Satan is hard because I never know if I envision him listening to heavy metal or if he prefers soft melodies. And, I mean, I know he can like more than one genre at once, but picking THE song I think he'd listen to is hard... but if I'm going off of what I like as well as gut instinct... Abstract Nonsense. Now, selected off his character, I'd have to pick Hikari Yo. It's just very emotional and desperate and the poor demon boi is like that on the inside quite a lot. WAIT or Pathalogical Facade! Oo, lots of options for Good Ol Satan.

Asmo:

Easy, he'd love Gimmie×Gimmie and I don't think I need any further explanation on this opinion. I actually think Asmo would unironically like a lot of vocaloid songs, personally. And as for his songification, I handpick Aishite, Aishite, Aishite. And I know there's a lot of different people's interpretations to this song and everything and people get very... I guess territorial when it comes to this song (at least from specific corners I've seen) but it makes sense to me. It's a really popular song and it's hauntingly beautiful and it's about wanting to be loved and adored and this is MY post so I can say whatever I want about it.

Beel:

Beel is another one that's hard for me to pin down... I think his music taste (joke not intended) is rather eclectic. He probably actually has no real preference other than more upbeat songs to make it easier to work out to. In which case I get to pick whatever I wish. For him I would make him listen to Happy Halloween. I don't care what time of year it is, it's cute and upbeat and about getting treats and it's one of my favorite songs ever. Now one to embody him?... Goodness that's even harder. I would love to say Appetite of a People Pleaser, but Beel's not a people pleaser... I actually don't know! Maybe I am a sham of a fan. I am open to suggestions for my baby Beel.

Belphie:

You know I have to pick Tokyo Teddy Bear. This mans is too edgy not to listen to it all too often. Plus, it's a classic. And, you know I have to make this all even sadder by giving him the song Error. Because I like to make myself cry. And Belphie needs a good cry, let's be honest with ourselves.

I'm also going to add the Distortanist as an honorable mention for unhinged Lesson 16 Belphie.

Listen, as someone who can appreciate certain parts of Hazbin Hotel (although I certainly have my many criticisms of it) why are people tagging their Hazbin art with "obey me lucifer"? Did those people not click on the tag and see that allllll the other posts are like, not the same fandom?

I wouldn't say that this current Phantom Butterly event suddenly makes events good again, but this one was pretty decent. We got a decently rare Luci, Belphie, Levi, and Asmo team. We got Levi taking the charge on more than one occasion with some of the brothers looking up to Levi anf admiring him for a bit, we got a little hint of drama, some funny moments, I enjoyed it bit more than other events in the past (although they're still devastatingly short with no real plot)

I will say tho that I better see some fanart of beautiful Asmo the Butterfly Queen, get on it artists (/j)

Not gonna lie. That Tainted Reflections fanfic had me on the edge of my seat and doing fist pumps several times. But my first thought with seeing what Alastor does for his collection was, "I wonder if pulling a Rukia Bankai and freezing them would be the best counter to all those dolls" (since I am a dork and tend to think up strategies)

Also. The Sin Eater is the absolute best addition to the lore of this series. It is wicked purity at it's most warped. I honestly was so impressed with the addition of it. (plus the artwork was fantastic)

I hope to read more of this absolute loving dedication to the fanbase.

I absolutely love the Sin Eater too! I love monsters and creatures and so of course I had to add one in my story!

Ok so I love Lucifer obviously, but I think if I choose him as a partner irl I would wanna skin myself and jump in an acid pool :D

This is a really good question! And actually one I was pondering over just a few days ago...

Lucifer I adore, but I think his actions and initial personality would turn me off from him completely, and it would take quite a lot of work on his end to win me back. But he has a lot of qualities I see in myself (and my mother, but let's not delve into my parental issues) and I think he would know how to help me get through some of my mental and physical problems. He'd for sure keep me on a schedule, which sometimes I hate but desperately need. So Lucifer is a MAYBE.

I would normally gravitate towards people like Levi, since our hobbies and interest align so closely. However, I really can't stand some aspects of his personality either, I'm sorry Levi stans. I've had too many exes like him...

I think the strongest contender would be Simeon. Sweet, kind, smart, gorgeous, a good cook, good to children, he keeps up after himself, he has such great advice. He's a writer! I mean, he's honestly the full package. He needs more credit for really being one of the BEST men in the game for real.
