Bikini + Big Pantz + Your OC!

I've been seeing this challenge floating around Twitter/X the past week or so. It's by @foxpopvli. Basically it involves drawing your character wearing a bikini and the "BIG PANT" from the 2023 meme. I thought it would be a fun little exercise to try, so I gave it a shot. My drawing hand's been a bit off the past few weeks, so this may not be the best of my most recent works. But I think it at least is worth sharing.

[April Fools] New Nextsoft Games Logo

Much to my dismay, I've been hearing more and more about the advancements in artificial intelligence.

Nevertheless, I'm not one to stray away from learning about new technologies. So, I figure it's about time I start learning about how to create AI generated images. In this case I've found an AI tool made to create simple computer graphics and I figured I'd give it a shot to try and create a new logo for me, based on my current design. I'm not sure what to think about this yet, although it's only my first time trying this. I may try and see if I can make a few tweaks here or get something different generated.

The Standoff!

On the outskirts of the city, two heroes lock eyes and prepare for battle.

I imagine this as a first meeting between Sketch Tucker and Fox McCloud. Not that I'd see them being foes. Moreso that they're trying to determine whether or not they can trust each other. Cause honestly, I think these guys would make for an awesome team up.

I'm not sure what inspired this. Possibly he thought of Sketch Tucker as a Super Smash Bros. character (as @malamiteltd has created concepts for in the past). Or that I think this would make for a pretty interesting fight scenario. Either way, I decided to roll with it.

This took quite a bit of effort to accomplish. I started this drawing during a live stream back on March 1st, and I ended up abandoning it after I didn't like the way the posing was turning out. Dynamic posing like this is some of the hardest details to pull off. Either way, I'm much happier with the end result.

Oh! And this is actually the first time I've finished a drawing of Fox McCloud since 2012.

Lead the Teijru Reference Guide ver 1.0

Using some of the techniques I came up with to put together a reference guide for Sketch Tucker last year, I put together a reference guide for Lead, my Teijru alien character.

This was done in collaboration with @malamiteltd in order to make sure that I had a the little facts correct around this drawing. It's a bit of information overload, I know. But I've commissioned and requested other artists to draw Lead, and there's times I can tell they've found him to be a bit challenging. My hope was to try and create something that would help whoever is drawing Lead, or other Teijru character in general, have a better understanding of how their anatomy works.

As shown in the title of this submission, I may be making edits to this if I discover any changes need to be made.

Bonus:

Here's a quick image I put together of what Lead's traditional Khejian outfit looks like. His name is written in Khejian script on the shirt. It's not exactly an outfit he's seen wearing often, so it's not necessarily something I feel needs to be included on the reference guide.

She's So Cute!

Paige appeared to be having some kind of malfunction one day. Max, taking notice of it, asked Paige if he could help. She agreed and he brought her over to the AV lab.

"OK Paige, just take a seat up here, let me grab this interface cable, and we'll take a look at what's going on." Max said as he gestured towards an empty space on the workbench next to his computer.

Paige took a seat next to the computer and Max plugged the cable into a port on the back of Paige's head.

"OK, let's take a look at what's going on here." Max said as he brought up Paige's source code on the computer screen.

Thinking there may have been some kind of bug, he scrolled through the lines of code until he came up to a comment in the code that read "Max." Scrolling further, the comment showed a bunch of asterisk characters in the form of a heart. Paige then turned over to Max and gave him a smile. Max jumped out of his seat, immediately looked away as he covered his face, which was now red with excitement and a smile was starting to form on his face. It turns out there was no malfunction, Paige just wanted Max to be her Valentine.

Max thought to himself "OH MY GOSH! SHE'S SO CUTE! I'M GONNA DIE!"

A late Valentine's Day drawing. I actually started this a couple of days ago and tried to finish it during a stream last night. Unfortunately, I ran out of time and had to call it a night. But it was suggested to me by @malamiteltd that I do a drawing of Max Acada and Paige Dekko doing something cute for Valentine's Day. And this scenario just kinda popped into my head, and from there I just rolled with it.

Speaking of which, here is my version of that concept. Raichu popping out of a giant birthday cake while Mewtwo looks on a bit unimpressed. It turns out that the promises of cake were in fact a lie. Instead we have Raichu.

Did you know February 6 is Mewtwo's Birthday? And it's also Raichu Day? There was some discussion with a few friends regarding how to celebrate both occasions in one picture. I brewed up this idea for them, and eventually said if they weren't gonna do it, I probably would. So we've both been working on the same concept, going two slightly different directions.

It turned out alright, I think.

So, I've been seeing this thing trending on Twitter / X today called "febROOary." It seems to be an excuse for The Fandom™ to transform their characters into kangaroos for the month. Rai Say!

"Pokémon with guns? Rai say! Raith Chu III has no time for that nonsense." I don't know. Something stupid that came into my head today. Based on a drawing I did back in 2016 called "Formal Raichu", which itself was based on an outfit that a Raichu was seen wearing in the Pokémon anime. And yeah, that's about it. Just something I thought would be fun to draw. Well, plus I thought it would be a funny response to the recent release of Palworld.

Kottarooi's Squeeze Toy

"KOTTAROOI STOP! I'm not a squeeze toy!"

DeviantArt says that tomorrow is CooperTheHusky0's birthday. So I put together a little gift. Just a fun little scenario where Kottarooi sneaks up behind Cooper and gives him a surprise bear hug. Well, I guess in this case, it would be more of a kangaroo hug? Either way, I imagine Kottarooi has quite a bit of muscle on him for his size. So a hug like that might cause just a little bit of discomfort.

Anyway, I hope that Cooper can enjoy this and that he has an excellent birthday this year.

What 'cha Other Cats Up To?

Stephano's quite a quiet and reserved character. Sometimes in social settings, he may just find himself quietly standing in the corner just watching others as they go about. Hopefully somebody will notice him standing there and offer to talk to him. Or maybe he's just content with standing there until it's time to go home.

So yeah, just a simple drawing of Stephano, cause I felt like drawing him after ordering a commission from @eluthar. There is a slight change to Stephano's design here. The space between his eye and eyebrows is now colored white. This was suggested by @malamiteltd, which I just liked and decided to roll with. I really need to give this character a last name. Anyone have any ideas?

Fix-It Cat - I.T. Zoomies

It seems Milo encountered some kind of problem on his computer trying to print an important document. Luckily his roommate, Collin, knows all there is to know about fixing such problems. Now if he could just give a little warning next time. Just like a cat to get the zoomies.

A remake of my very first Fix-It Cat comic. The other day I posted the first Fix-It Cat comic to Twitter/X. The first comic was made in April of 2010, and my art style has come a very long way since then. So much so that it got me wanting to try remaking the first comic as a bit of a practice run to try and get this comic series up and running again since I haven't made one of these since 2016

Year of the Dragon?

Wait… That's not a Dragon! That's a Drabbit!

This is a character introduced in Day 19.1 of The Blocks by @malamiteltd. This is actually an alternate form of a character I drew last year for the Year of the Rabbit. It's almost poetic that a dragon-like form of the character got introduced in time for the Year of the Dragon. And it just seemed like the natural thing to draw for this year's first drawing.

MMXXIV

It's the end of 2023. Honestly, I cannot say this has been a great year for me. While I've done my best to try and keep things moving forward, I've been very bogged down by a major life changing event that has caused a lot of negative emotion over the year.

What Happened? For those that haven't heard, my father passed away suddenly in May. And to say it's been anything less than an emotional roller coaster would be an understatement. I've done my best to keep my composure in public and online, but I'd be lying if I said that I haven't been feeling depressed about it the past several months. Although that feeling seems to have hit some in my family harder than others. But we've been doing our best to try and help each other out, and to keep our family traditions, and my father's memory alive.

What does this mean going forward? While I usually like to start off a new year with a bunch of goals in mind, and a plan to get things rolling. This year it means I'll still pretty much have those same goals, but I also have my father's estate to keep up with, which is also going to take up a good chunk of my time.

The story pretty much goes like this. In December of 2000 my father bought a home for himself, his children, and his son-to-be wife and her children. Between 2007 and 2010, he had the house expanded to accommodate all the children that were living there. Unfortunately, he divorced in 2015, leaving him with this now big empty house.

The plan was that he was going to retire this year and my brother and I were going to help him sell and move out of that house, and move into a new house that was a bit more manageable. With my father's unfortunate passing, my brother and I have now inherited this house. And our plan at this point is to do what was originally planned. Sell the house and my brother and I will use the money to buy our own homes. So, we've been spending many weekends at the house cleaning it up, repairing a few odds and ends, and moving anything we want to keep from the house into storage. And this has taken up a huge portion of our time to do. And even still, we’ve got a lot more work ahead of us once the house sells.

Unfortunately, there's still a lot of legal stuff that my brother and I have been dealing with that has yet to be settled. So, my plan this year is to try and get the estate settled by April (so that we can get the taxes out of the way as well), get the house sold and then start looking at nearby homes I can put a down payment on. Truth be told, I don't want to move too far away from my mother at this point, but the way things are, I know I'm going to need my own space sooner or later.

What about any of the other goals? Well, like in years past, I still have other goals in mind for my own personal works. Actually, this kind of goes into things that are happening at work. Not that I want to reveal too much, but some leadership and ownership changes have been taking place. And while I’ve been reassured that my job is pretty much safe, you really can’t be too careful. So, like in years past, I’ve said that I’ve wanted to work on getting a video game demo built at some point. I think that may be the ”kick in the rear” I need to get working on that. Mainly, I’d like to try and get a fully working level of Jamal The Bombardier Bird up and working before the end of next year. If all goes well, that could either be something for Malamite’s and my portfolio going forward, or it can be something we flesh out into a fully working game that we can put on the market.

In terms of artwork, for the past several years I’ve been using Adobe Animate to render most of my drawings. But it’s been becoming more and more apparent over the years that this comes with limitations. Especially when it comes down to things like shading. This month, I decided to look into using raster graphics applications to try and render my Holiday art projects. And I think the results are good enough to continue pursuing the use of applications other than Adobe Animate going forward. That’s not to say I’d be dumping Animate entirely though, as vector graphics are still very useful when it comes down to things such as graphic design.

What about things health-wise? Those that follow me on Twitter/X may have seen that I visited a physician in late July. This is the first time I’d seen a general practitioner since 2008. Mainly in fear of just how bad my overall health is. And yeah, in addition to high blood pressure (which I’ve already been well aware of) it was confirmed to me that I’m morbidly obese, have high cholesterol, and that I’m pre-diabetic. I was asked to drop 5lbs by the end of August, but I was so frustrated that I started heavily fasting and dropped 15lbs. Now at the end of the year, I’m down a total of 30lbs. I’m hoping that by the end of 2024 I can be down another 50lbs which should bring me to around an even 200lbs.

That said, I was prescribed a medication to bring down my blood pressure and cholesterol level, and I refused to take it over concerns I had with the side-effects the pharmacist told me about. I don’t have a great history when it comes down to prescription drugs either. And instead of my physician trying to address some of these concerns, they instead told me that I need to either take the medication or find a new physician. Since they didn’t want my poor health to reflect on their record. So, I cancelled my next appointment with them, and I’ll need to find a new physician after the new year starts.

Conclusion So yeah, I can’t call 2023 a great year. I mean, when you lose someone as close to you as your father, could any of you really say anything different? But out of all the negative things that happened this year, there are many silver linings. And my hope is that going into 2024 that I can turn those silver linings into positive change going forward.
