I don’t want to disappear without a forewarning.

As of July 4th 2018, the Internet as we know it might be dead for good. 

The European Parliament is passing a new Copyright Directive.  Article 13 #CensorshipMachine will impose widespread censorship of all the content we share online. Art, fanfiction, parodies, remixes, mashups, memes, etc.. Anything that you do not hold the rights over will be taken down. 

Article 13 would force all online platforms to police and prevent the uploading of copyrighted content, or make people seek the correct licenses to post that content. Internet platforms hosting large amounts of user-uploaded content must monitor user behaviour and filter their contributions to identify and prevent copyright infringement. 

Such filters will be mandatory for platforms including YouTube, Facebook, Tumblr, Reddit and Instagram, but also much smaller websites.

This doesn’t just affect Europe. The content creators you love are going to be in hot water for sharing their art and writing with you online. Any and all content that doesn’t belong to us will be filtered. Even memes are at risk, as the person who took the original photo may want to file complaints against any platform that allows it to be used without permission. But it goes even further than that.

Last Tuesday (19th June 2018) a group of more than 70 people who have played important roles in building the internet and developing it (Tim Berners-Lee, Vincent Cerf, Jimmy Wales, Mitchell Baker…) into what it is today addressed an open letter to the members of the European Parliament:

“As creators ourselves, we share the concern that there should be a fair distribution of revenues from the online use of copyright works, that benefits creators, publishers, and platforms alike.

But Article 13 is not the right way to achieve this. By requiring Internet platforms to perform automatic filtering all of the content that their users upload, Article 13 takes an unprecedented step towards the transformation of the Internet from an open platform for sharing and innovation, into a tool for the automated surveillance and control of its users. […] The damage that this may do to the free and open Internet as we know it is hard to predict, but in our opinions could be substantial.”

Europe is facing a huge problem, and unlike with Net Neutrality, the world doesn’t seem to care.

The FCC sided with Comcast and decided to let ISPs censor the internet. The Internet needs to stop this from happening: http://cms.fightforthefuture.org/tellfcc/

Last Wednesday, FCC Chairman Tom Wheeler announced a proposal for new rules that would allow for a “ fast lane” of Internet traffic for content providers who are willing (and able) to pay a fee. [1] The proposal reverses the FCC’s previous commitment to net neutrality and open internet and allows ISP’s like Comcast or Verizon to slow down and censor services that don’t pay the toll.

We have to be totally honest, this situation is seriously grim. But there is still hope. The FCC already knows that the Internet community wants net neutrality, but they think they can put their spin on these new rules and sneak them through. If we can prove them wrong right now with a massive public outcry, we can literally save the Internet once again.

We need to stop the FCC now. Big business groups are already ramping up lobbying efforts with the FCC in swarms since Wednesday’s announcement in support of censoring the open Internet and to ensure this dangerous proposal moves forward. [2]

We can't allow them to have their way with our Internet.

This is something that is very important to pay attention to, and if you are an American I implore you to do everything that you can! Contact your representatives, research your ISPs, and keep a vigilant eye on this! The FCC is likely to make this ruling close to Thanksgiving in an attempt to squeak it by without anyone noticing.

Net neutrality is the reason why you can visit any website confidently. It’s why you don’t have to pay a premium to be able to access YouTube. It’s why you don’t have the internet bundled into different packages like TV is.

If they remove net neutrality protections, then there is no benefit to the consumer. Put simply, your ISP could choose to charge you more in order to visit specific sites, and not every town in the United States has the option to switch to a new ISP because some ISPs hold a monopoly in some areas.

Uncertain about this blog’s future

I’ve hadn’t been active on this blog for a past few months and I feel that it could be the end of this blog because I hardly have any muse for the pending replies and I don’t respond to starters that were made for me.

On the other hand, I feel that I still have some things left to explore about Jimmy and interactions with other muses. I’m thinking of either deleting this blog or drop all threads I have and start over with Jimmy.

'This wasn't the night that I had in mind.' Jimmy mused briefly as he leans against the wall with the front entrance to his left. He hoped for a quiet night, but a fight between two people soon escalated into a bar brawl which involved everyone in the bar and it went on for a while until most people are either unconscious or got out of the bar to avoid the fight.

Jimmy is one of the few people who is left standing after the brawl ended and it is one of the few nights where he gotten trouble instead peace.

The grim scenery reminds him of the city that holds great significance to him which held many memories whether it is good or bad; From his first arrival to his meeting with his younger brother at Marian's grave, Sunshine City is a place which he considers as his home.

Before any more thoughts enter his mind, he hears someone inquiring   him about his solitude and it snaps him out of his thoughts. "Because I prefer to be alone." Jimmy spoke curtly as looked at the young man who asked about his isolation from the crowd. "And what are you doing here?"

It was a very heavy crowd right now. there was something that h e cannot get through, wasn’t that easy. he have got push by a person a bit. it was a shoving long day. 

After he got off to the crowd, he suddenly sees a man, sitting along in the wall. he looks very lonely for the moment. Could he speck with him for a little while? Just a talk face to face? Hes not sure if its a god idea approaching to him. after he reach a little there he was.

"Just….what are you doing alone there?" He asked him."Why aren't  you not with like …….anybody?" he added once again.
