I like to think Trent and Keeley go shopping together. They can both appreciate a pattern/animal print. Keeley encourages Trent to step outside his comfort zone when he sees something he likes but thinks he is too Middle Aged Dad to pull off. And Trent gently helps make Keeley’s style a little more polished - still very Keeley but he talks her down to only ONE crazy texture per outfit, at least on business meeting days. also your red trackies and pink crop hoodie clash Keeley, please wear any other top with those. Neither of them love shopping with Rebecca because she has been too rich for too long and she is operating on a very different price range than they are.
I love this! Especially Keeley encouraging Trent. I have a feeling he was always pretty stylish, but since he's only recently out, I imagine he's still experimenting with his presentation as a gay man, and Keeley would be such a great person to help him and give him the encouragement and space to try new things and even get it wrong sometimes.
And I think similarly Keeley does seem interested in tailoring her style to fit her role as a businesswoman without losing her flair, and Trent is a great example of someone who blends classic professionalism with personal pizzazz. I'm so into this.
So true about Rebecca too! I bet Trent and Keeley go bargain hunting together, and Rebecca just cannot fathom why they won't just let her hook them up with her stylist.
That being said, I think maybe once in a while, they do let Rebecca treat them to some opulent shopping experience.
Thanks so much for sharing your headcanons! This is so great!

Trent and Rebecca regularly do brunch together, and Ted is never invited because they talk about people like Rupert and George Cartrick, and it is the most brutal, judgmental, bitchiest brunch, and the schadenfreude is turned up to 11, and the drunker they get the meaner they get. It's amazingly epic, and sometimes Keeley comes just to marvel at them. She'll join in a bit at first, but she's always just a little too nice to go the distance with them, so she cheers them on instead.
If anyone wants to kick around some more Trent and Rebecca being besties headcanons with me, hit up my ask box! Also open to any Trent and Keeley interactions!

A lot of people really liked the Colin/Michael kiss in the finale but it just fell flat for me. It would’ve been an absolutely valid choice to just say that homophobia doesn’t exist in the TL universe so Colin gets to kiss whoever he wants wherever he feels like it but… they didn’t do that. Instead we get this weird tonal dissonance where after a whole season of establishing that homophobia very much does exist and looking at how Colin deals with it, in the last episode they suddenly switch to saying it doesn’t actually matter. It’s not the first time they’ve introduced a very serious issue only to go “but never mind all that!” five minutes later (Sam’s plot in s3e7 for example), but it just feels hollow every time
I think this is absolutely fair, anon. I had mixed feelings about it because I saw its potential, and Billy Harris puts so much into Colin and is so brilliant, but there's a careless (a word I keep using for the writing of s3) treatment to Colin's story that makes that moment feel unearned narratively.
We know Colin doesn't want to be The Gay Footballer, and we know that after this happens he very much will be. And I think some of that could have been dealt with in Colin's "coming out" episode if they'd bothered to make it about, you know, Colin.
Instead there's this forced tension created by Isaac's perceived homophobia. Which, in universe, apparently lasts for days I think? (NGL, at this point in the show, I was watching through my fingers like a horror movie so I might get some details wrong.) Amongst other things, I don't buy that Isaac would be that callous as to not think things like refusing to touch Colin etc. would very much seem like homophobic rejection. I think Isaac was done a huge disservice in that episode as well tbh.
But the whole episode is about Isaac, and his reactions, and how he feels about homophobia, and his anger...all of which would have been a great premise if it had ended with Isaac telling Colin he's in love with him. I'm not even saying this as a shipper; it just would have made the most sense with their decision to focus on Isaac.
But back to the kiss. (Sorry, my feelings on this are very tagential.)
If we'd focused on Colin's feelings during that episode, and if we'd gotten a scene of Colin actually coming out (maybe even not being forced out, but instead inspired by something or someone), and if we got to see the team supporting him personally, and being there for him personally, then maybe it would have made a lot more sense for Colin to take that leap. Especially if he'd been given the space to consider the ramifications some more with the audience.
But because Colin was sidelined in the Colin is pushed comes out of the closet episode, it's hard to derive the joy from that moment that could have been if queerness were treated with a bit more care by the show.
So, I think your reaction is completely valid, anon. Thanks for sharing your opinions!

Still kind of obsessed with this whole situation, and since I'm trying to play around with different styles, I couldn't help myself.

one tedependent headcanon i have is we never see trent tie up his hair again after the first time because one time during a presser ted complimented how trent’s hair was longer and framed his face nicely and trent didn’t feel the need to keep it away from his face anymore. (maybe he didn’t lose the bag of hairties by accident)
Ohhhh, anon, I am such a slut for a "Ted has a preoccupation with Trent's hair" headcanon. Because OF COURSE HE DOES.
I love this. I think, too, Trent can be a bit of a preener, and maybe does little things unconsciously to draw Ted's attention like tuck a bit behind his ear when Ted's looking or rub the back of his neck, and at first he thinks he imagines Ted's features stutter a little, but then he thinks he sees it again. So Trent starts drawing attention to his hair consciously, running his fingers through it or even giving it a little well-timed flip, and there's no denying that Ted is Noticing.
And then I kind of imagine it escalating until Trent is just entering the room full Rita Hayworth in Gilda style and Ted's jaw drops to the floor and his tongue rolls out, and Roy and Beard are just like, "FFS get a room or a salon or SOMETHING!"
(sorry, anon this one got a little off the rails)

Thank you for your blog! I just wanted to mention that the finale was also painful for Tedbeard shippers, who don’t really get acknowledged in the fandom but who are absolutely lovely and deserved better than Beard getting abruptly married to Jane in a bad cgi flashforward.
Absolutely! I'm so sorry Tedbeard shippers! You deserved better! Beard deserved better! The homoerotic undertones of Ted and Beard's unbreakable bond DESERVED BETTER!

Tedbeccas: *lay out convincing, concise arguments for why the season finale didn't work that include multiple layers of analysis of various character arcs and plot points*
TL writers/tv reviewers/other fans: Boo hoo! You're just mad you didn't get your ship!
From a Tedependent, I just want Tedbeccas to know that I'm seeing it too, and I find it eye-wateringly frustrating to the point where I felt the need to post about AGAIN.

I hate so much that Rebecca had to talk him down. I hated that Ted tried to stalk Michelle in general, but it would have been one thing if he'd been shaken out of himself by the conversation with Henry and held himself accountable. But forcing Rebecca (a woman who has repeatedly had her privacy violated and been the victim of her ex-husband using his power and connections to further harass her) into that position then having her talk him down was so so gross to watch. And I wish she'd been given space to be upset for her own reasons.
SHARON. Sharon is the woman he should have called. Sharon is the woman getting paid for this shit. Ted calling Sharon (even in a tiny moment of guilt/doubt about his actions) would have AT LEAST given him some credibility as a man who is on the road to returning to his family.
This show has a real problem with calling in women to fix men.
(Except for Sharon, who, again, is paid for this shit.)
Has anyone checked on Michelle? Imagine being surrounded by the therapist who abused his power and position to manipulate you into a sexual relationship and the guy who tried to stalk you earlier in the year and probably would have if another woman hadn't stepped in to talk him down.

There is literally no way I know how to read what that finale did to Nate as anything other than racism, and not even bumbling and well meaning anymore - this was malicious.
honestly after brendan's ama where he made it clear that all of the things that we noticed as upsetting and gross (dr jacob dating michelle, jane's toxic abusiveness) were actually acknowledged and talked over in the writer's room and they thought it was all fine, i'm of two minds --
either they genuinely just did not even think to have a conversation about the implications of nate's arc as written for a character of color, or they did talk about the optics of where they decided to end nate's story and, like the other choices they apparently deliberately made, they decided it was ok bc they idk....wrote nate telling us he liked where he was in 3 minutes? look hello fixed?
it's just genuinely shocking to me and yeah, the 'assistant to the kitman' is just that step beyond bc they really were like 'we're gonna make nate lower than he even was in the beginning - which serves him right - and we'll have him be so so grateful to be bestowed mercy by the oh so benevolent white staff who are kindly allowing him to slip nearly back where he belongs (because c'mon clearly if you give them an inch, they don't know how to handle it!), and work to make up for his transgressions -- but lol it's a reference lol can't get mad! it's a lil pop culture reference uwu! joak! it's a reference!!! lmao!!!'
fuck me i gotta hope they didn't even think to have the conversation because fucking hell

Nate leaving West Ham was such a huge mistake! I wanted to see him confront his demons and be a better leader for it! Redemption did not require him to be brought low. The assistant to the kitman thing undermines his growth, his character, and his relationship to the team.
I think keeping Nate head coach at West Ham and having one of his big moments be publicly defying Rupert, not letting someone hurt Jamie (who Nate wouldn’t be too evil to let get hurt considering Jamie’s treatment of him), and still having an apology scene with Ted would’ve been perfect. I would have loved to see his arc have him stay outside of Richmond, but I will say I want Nate/Nick to be there if there is a spin off so that is a plus of having him back at Richmond.
