Rec me fic to help with my dissertation!

Hello everyone, I know I've been away for a long, looong, looong time. I hope you're all well. My life has been a bit consumed by my dissertation and so I've completely fallen out of fandom, but my next chapter of my diss actually about Game of Thrones fanfiction and I could use your help if you're willing.

I'm asking for something pretty simple: What are some fics you've read (or written) that include what you consider interesting or meaningful engagements with Sansa's experiences as a rape survivor? Please share with me! I'm specifically interested in Jonsa and Sansaery fic but if you've got something from another ship or a gen fic, go ahead and share that as well! I'm trying to read through a bunch to get a sense of trends in terms of how fic writers have responded to the show's handling of sexual violence by taking up the plot of Sansa's rape.

I needed a fandom break and a GOT break and frankly have been doing little more than reading romance novels (and working on my dissertation) since the pandemic hit, but I’m maybe ready to start being in the fandom space again and even, gasp, returning to some of my wips 😱

romance recs!

For @missfaber​ and anyone else who wants some!

Caveats: I can give more tailored recs if you tell me what tropes you like, and also I basically only read historicals which are overwhelmingly (but not exclusively) white and hetero. Also, most of these can be found on Scribd if you have that service.

Authors you can’t go wrong with (and who will show up a bunch in the rest of my recs):

Courtney Milan - excellent prose, complex protagonists, love stories that feel earned, and just overall ... she’s the best, truly, chef’s kiss

Sarah MacLean - extremely fun and extremely sexy, her books are just bursting with life, full of fantastic lead and side characters, and every single one is a delight

Meredith Duran - her books have a gravity to them that I really appreciate; situations and characters are genuinely really difficult sometimes but so worth it

Hey, thank you so much for checking in. I've been extremely offline in a lot of ways since covid hit my area, but things are generally okay for me. I'm mostly lucky. But I've been handling my anxiety by binge reading romance novels, hence my general absence lately. (If anyone wants any romance recs though, I got you.)

a gentle reminder that both jon and sansa were trapped in abusive relationships and i'll never forgive d&d for putting them both through that and not letting them help and heal each other

that would've been leagues more interesting and heartwarming to see than sansa being nice and "thanking" her abusers for making her stronger, and jon being made to feel guilty for killing the woman who.... well there's a shorter list for the things she hasn't done to him

I know that quarantine is giving many people time to write/draw a lot of stuff and that's really amazing! Seriously, the fandom content is keeping us sane during these times! But I'm going through the opposite, that is, quarantine murdered my ideas and I know that happened to a lot of people.

So friendly reminder to everyone who isn't able to produce content: It's okay. We're in this together. It sucks that we can't do something productive when we have a lot of free time, but please don't be hard on yourself. This is a very stressful time already, so please don't make yourself more anxious if you're having a writer's/artist's block.
