feeling that heartbeat was one of the most comforting joys left in this world. it soothed the elder captain as nothing else could . eyes close before a chuckle . beyond amused . beyond happy . this was glorious .

beneath the ever expansive branches of their favorite cherry blossom tree the pair sat . one leg crooked over another fingers laced together on belly back propped up against the strength of the trunk behind him lay the captain . sakkat tipped forward to shield both eyes from errant rays of sunshine peeking out from the protection of each blossom .

current captain of the thirteenth division, rukia kuchiki stood before the elderly commander. a smile before fingertips gently pinch together at the edge of the straw woven kasa   tipping   it just below eyeline.

❛        he would have been so proud of you.         ❜         another smile and a polite bow of his head before hands slip into billowing sleeves. at times the incredible  loneliness  of life without jūshirō ukitake nearly suffocated him.  it was nice to come visit old memories once in a while.
