One eye cracked open from the couch where he'd been napping. The spot was usually occupied by Matsumoto, however, she'd claimed to have a girl's night with some of the other female shinigami and left hours ago. Leaving behind her paperwork.....as usual.

It hadn't even taken him that long to get her pile of work completed. The weeks he'd spent filling in for his Captain here Soul Society while he'd been in the human realm made him used to the monotonous duties. Which had naturally led to the nap once he'd finished until Hitsugaya's cool voice drew him from the light sleep he'd been in.

Grunting in response to the request he rose. Padding silently over to the small tea station that was set up in the office and setting about making a pot of tea. Carefully measuring out the tea leaves before adding the water once it is at the right temperature, then waiting the appropriate time for it to steep. Only then did he pour a cup and bring one over to his Captain. Setting the warm porcelain down next to the old cup and then removing that one before asking. "When was the last time you ate, Taichou?"

"I never answered your question...?" The words get repeated, mostly for the Captain Commander's own benefit. He can't recall being asked but given the circumstances, it wouldn't be beyond him to have simply compartmentalize it.
