My hot take is that I think Kai did raise nya but he was an objectively bad and lacking parental figure (because he was like 7) who wasn’t able to properly fulfill Nya emotional needs and as a result (as well as the general stress of the situation) nya is as heavily traumatized as Kai.

Nethershipping headcanons :] (forbidden five x Kai)

- the forbidden five r naturally very touch affectionate people so they like doing things like hugging, holding hands, etc with eachother and Kai

- kai thinks he can fix them

- forbidden five think they can make him worse

- both are surprised when it actually works

- bonzle is trying to explode them both with her brain.

- speaking of which, I imagine when Kai first met the three forbidden five members still in the Nether realm, it reminded him alot about Cole jay and Zane. Although the would never admit it.

- “sorry guys I’m joining the evil polycue now”

- Kai refuses to wear the hat but hes not above wearing the cape

- both bonzle and Kai learned the forbidden fives language (forgot what it’s called)

- Kai likes telling the forbidden five members in the nether realm with him about what he used to do in ninjago, his favorite restaurants, his friends, stargazing, sleeping under cozy blankets, all that stuff

- once they all get free Kai makes sure to take time to make sure they get to experience it with him

- it took him a bit to explain to nokt that he’s with them now

- when Kai finally was willing to have a hat, it took them like 3 weeks to find the perfect one for him because the forbidden five r extremely picky on their hats

Personally I think it would make the most sense to have it pay off this season especially because of the tournament. The original tournament was because of Zane dying, I think having to participate in one will bring those emotions back

What if, after Kai gets banished, jay starts getting some of his memories back but it’s still all foggy. Which ends up making him mistakingly believing that him and Kai are meant to be together. So he starts building his own portal and willingly teaming up with ras so he can be reunited with “his true love” only for it to come crashing down when Kai comes back

I personally think we should keep Kai in the nether space forever. I have also made a petition to keep him in the nether space and never let him leave.

Kai from Ninjago is not stuck in the nether space. He has never been at nether space and he should never be at nether space. Nothing against the nether space, but he has been at ninjago for 10+ years. We all grew up with Kai and why would we let them relocate him for absolutely zero reason? The new writer should just create a new character that is at the nether space, not rewrite one of the best Lego characters in history. Sign this petition if you think Kai should stay away from the nether space.
